  1. Just checking in....I had my teeth worked on...root canal. Been absent. I hope everyone is doing well. I am getting really nervous. The 6th seems right around the corner. How is everyone doing on their shakes? I had a bad week with it. With all the pain meds I went off. Now I have 3 weeks to stick to it. I am struggling with self sabotage. I need to stick to this and continue walking. I'm getting scared I guess....how is everyone else?
  2. So happy for you! Congrats on the approval!
  3. I am KatsMFP on there if anyone wants to add me.
  4. I started about a week ago and do that till the 4th then Clear liquids for 2days. i'm doing whey tech right now. I have to use 2 scoops to get the right protien I am going back to designer whey though because it is 100% pure isolate(sp?) Whey. Nut says that's the best whey but I will still have to do 2 scoops to get in my protien. Are you on shakes yet?
  5. There is another thread started called fabulose february with a list
  6. That's great! Are you excited? I am the 6th and getting antsy
  7. Thanks, you are right. I am doing all I can to be prepaired. I am thankful I found this site, it helps so much to be able to share and support others who are all going through this too.
  8. Thats great! congrats and it is wonderful that you got a surgery date so soon. Hope all goes well for you. take care, Kat
  9. Congrats on the awesome weight loss! sorry about your trouble, but it looks like you are doing great now. take care, Kat
  10. My surgeon doesn't allow it. I know everyone handles it differently, but my Nut and nurse call us "cheap dates" because we don't eat much and it only takes a sip or two to get drunk. Just be careful when driving, it doesn't matter how much you drank, intoxicated is intoxicated to the police.
  11. Are you pre-op? I am wondering the same thing... i'd like to hear it from someone with experience instead of friends or family stating that as a good reason not to do this....scare tactics irk me
  12. Good knowledge.... my dr have me a card to cary, but I have to have a med braclet anyways for other health issues. I only have the cheap 6$ pharmacy one that you fill in yourself. I will take a look. Thank you for sharing. Kat
  13. I will have to ask about almond milk. I have never had it. I'm glad I am not alone in this. As for healthy carbs...he requires so many vitamins (chewable or liquid) that I don't know how I will be hungry at all. I am concerned about no vegg but I will just have to stick it out, lose as fast as possible and then I can have them gain. I am thankful for everyone who responded....I feel much better now. I can do this. I am so thankful to this site. I am going to share it with everyone at my first support group. Thank you all and God bless! Kat Oh I also forgot to answer that question ....I am still pre-op just trying to lay some questions to rest. I will have surgery on feb 6th at Park Veiw in riverside Ca with Dr. Krahn...(spelling?)
  14. I am glad it isnt just me! I am going to follow it too because his rate of success is so great. you are so right....all those foods i love so much, pasta, rice tortillas, sweets....those are what i overate. One of the reasons i picked RNY was because of dumping syndrome.....i want that fear there to keep me on track. one more thing you will a love....we have to make our shakes with water....no juice or milk. tastes great (gagging). We are allowed to mix it with SF drinks, but i havn't found anything to mix it with that actually tasts ok. right now before surgery he is letting me use the Light OJ from minute maid, but after surgery i will have to find something different.
  15. I am so sorry you are going through all of this pain. I am still pre-op so i can't offer any suggestions or understand how you feel, but i do know how it feels to be sick and in pain all of the time. It is so hard when they can't find out what is going on. it took 9 years for them to figure out i had lupus. I Just wanted to say that I hope you find some answers soon and that the docs can figure it out soon. I am here to listen if you need an ear. Message me if you want to chat. Kat
  16. Greek yogurt, plain only and some low fat cheese like mozzarella are allowed. As for the soft stage... recommended foods are, cottage cheese, protein shakes, scrambled egg, pureed meets (gross), pureed beans, Greek yogurt, i am sure i left some out, but you get the idea....if it isn't lean protein i am not to eat it and if it is a protein too solid to eat in the soft stage, i am to puree it...
  17. i was the same way about my approval. It took me so long to get a doc that would recommend it, then jumping through their hoops...I hope everything works out for you and soon. sorry you are feeling anxious. Try to just stay focused on the end goal. remember why you started all this and focus on that. the wait was one of the hardest times for me, now it is the wait for surgery and I hope that you will be there soon too, Kat
  18. vasectomy lol......my husband has had one and i am very thankful. I am happy with the two kids i have been blessed with. birth control makes me crazy. i cant take them with my health problems either. I hope you find one that works for you
  19. My surgeon says i am to only eat lean proteins, vitamins and protein shakes until 75% of weight i need to lose is off. Then I am to add low carb veggitables and when i get to maintanance i will be allowed to have fruit in moderation. and am to avoid all simple sugars and baked breads or pastas, in other words i have to lose about 80 lbs before i can have anything but lean proteins also no milk. some dairy is allowed but not milk. no oatmeal, cream of wheat....nothing like that. I am confused because i see a lot of the people here eating stuff he says no way to ...like mashed potatoes, tortillas, bread, rice pasta....is my doc alone on this or are there others here who have strict rules? he has a realy good success rate for long term weight loss....i just want to know if there are otherswho are on this strict of a meal plan, I am going to follow his meal plan, but it is going to be tough with everyone else able to eat. I am also a bit worried about my kidneys with only protein ....which is also why we are supposed to carry water or SF drink 24/7.....Any comments would be appreciated. What do you all think of this?
  20. The nurse and nutritionist from my class said to be careful after surgery....they said it greatly effects hormones and you will be a firtle Mertle. We are encouraged to use birth control hear one....but my hubby is fixed now so not worries there
  21. Best wishes for a quick approval...this was one of the hardest times for me....just having to wait for them to make up their mind, but hopefully it will go quickly for you
  22. Wow! what a journey. I am sorry you had to go through all of that, but so happy for you that the wait is over! i hope we all have smooth sailing from now on. does that all mean that you dont have to do the shakes? i had already been on them for a month then was told i would have to go to the 6month education classes....so i was off tyhe shakes for 2 weeks i think or 1.5 and gained my pre-op loss back. then after my doc faxed over some stuff,i was approved without the classes. so i have to start all over...but at least i only have 7.6 to go....just so happy to finaly know this is going to happen for me....for all of us.
  23. Thanks momma! I am very excited.... how is everyone doing? Who is on their pre-op diet? What are all your pre-op requirements? I have been back on the shakes for about a weeks now, 2 protein shakes a day then a small portion of lean meat and vegg for dinner. Untill 2 days before surgery and then its clear liquids. Required to start vitamins now but have taken them my whole life anyways. 10 days pre-op have to start showering 2x a day with antibacterial soap and gargle 3x a day with antiseptic mouthwash. (reduce chance of infection or illness for sugery) then i have to get my blood work done again, then i go the 31 of jan for the pre-op clearance with the sergeon and do my pre registration at the hospital. after that is the big day. so what hoops does everyone else have left? i hope you all have a beautiful day! Kat
  24. Yes, it is to reduce the chance of infection in the OR. Also he requires antiseptic mouthwas 3 times a Day 10 days before. I don't care if it seems sily because I am realy getting nervous and feel better knowing that he is so careful. Thanks for the support....I am excited
  25. great job on the 47lbs! i am still pre-opp but the nutritionist for my doc says lean protein sources for the first 75% of your weight loss....chicken, fish, beans, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, ....what kind of food do you like? allrecipies.com has a tool to sort recipies by nutrient, you can set a protein minimum a carb maximum sodium, etc....very useful. hope that site might give you some good ideas for what you like, you can also search by ingredients you have or like...take care' kat
