  1. Congratulations Panda, how are you feeling?
  2. Did your insurance cover you? I am in the process- waiting to see if I will be approved BUT I assumed I would get my band removed and the bypass done at the same time, is that not the case???
  3. Still waiting I tried to read over the BCBS AL to see if I can find an answer but it'd all so confusing, hope I get a response this week, I'm so ready! Have you had it done or waiting?!
  4. Wow, I assumed you would be required to stay, the next day you get x-rays done to make sure there isn't any issues, you walk around, have to go potty and then you get released. I've had lap band before and was there one night and this one is even more major <~ if that makes sence.
  5. Don't give up!! Unless u absolutly love your job, I'd look for something else where it's not exempted!!
  6. Omg, I'm NOT alone I have the lap band and I was doing great (sw 230) then I got pregnant got my band unfilled and well now I've gained it all back well, I'm at 210, my baby is 2 now. My band has a slight slip, I can't get anymore fills and I can't get under 200lbs:( so I'm waiting on an approval from bcbs of AL to see if they'll cover my revision. I'm so anxious to get this done and be back on my way to my goal weight, it's like starting all over and I feel like a loser cause I have family (who are all thin, btw) saying stuff like I should give up, I already tried to be skinny I'm not built that way and what if this fails but I'm not giving up!
  7. I have blue cross blue shield AL and I am W-A-I-T-I-N-G not so patiently for a phone call!!! I hope I get approved but mine is a revision, getting rid of the lap band and doing the gastric bypass, Atnea covered my lap band without any problems just had to do a 6month program and some tests ect...
  8. Don't give up!! Maybe they can give you a payment plan OR get someone to co-sign for it! Gosh I would even raffle something or sell something cause $2-3,000 is nothing compared to paying outta pocket and you've gotten this far! I'd even do a withdraw from your 401k if you have one- worth the penalty! Good luck, keep us posted!
  9. Not sure what you used to do but you may want to apply at a bank- they normally start you out with benefits but, mine requires one yr before it would cover biatrics - hope this helps~ good luck!
  10. I'm waiting and praying for an approval!! I'm in Hou. TX and I'd like to have and be a BUDDY
  11. I started at 230lbs and got to 168lbs when I found out I was expecting, my dr recommended I stay filled through my pregnancy but I was stubborn, got it emptied out and gained it all back while I was pregnant In my mind I though, oh I will lose it again after this baby is born and all will be back to normal!! I was so WRONG!! My band has slightly slipped, it doesn't prevented from eatting the bad stuff and I'm hungry all the time so my baby is two now and I weigh 210!!;(
  12. Awesome-- you give me hope!! I received a letter today that requires more information! I will give them all they ask for if it means an approval!!
  13. If I had to do it again, I would of had my son first then once I was done having my babies (im done now- 3 boys) I'd have the surgery. I am back where I started before the band
  14. Who is your provider? I'm in Hou, TX and waiting for an approval for blue cross blue shield AL and I'm hoping I won't have to do an appeal!!! I hate the waiting game! (I'm doing a revision)
  15. I was banded had lost like 80lbs when I got pregnant, I have not been able to lose the weight again and I'm now seeking to get the gastric bypass. The band has failed me and if your seeking to have weight loss surgery please do all your research, most people have to get it revised within 3 yrs.
  16. I was banded in 08, I should of done the gastric bypass now I'm going in to get revised but, I have to wait to see if my insurance will accept it! If they don't I still want the band out!! It's useless and I don't recommend it for anyone. Hoping 2013 will be the year for me at my goal weight!
