Broke Down
Well today is my 7day of pre-op liquid diet and I'm feeling a better, weight myself and I had lost 12lbs since I started. I been following this diet very strictly so I guess the effort is paying off...still battle w/the desire of eating food and it's so hard but YES we CAN!!! I read on some of those WLS forums that somebody was allow to eat one regular meal a day that mostly included veggies, I was like what?!?!?!?! So anyways I will continue doing what my surgeon told me to do so.... My surgery is April 2, 2012 and I can't wait...Good luck to you and keep in touch ;D

Broke Down
Hello everyone: Just want to share that today is my 6day of pre-op liquid diet and I just had an emotional/devil moment. I just started crying and couldn't stop for a while, I'm not hungry at all b/c the shakes fill me up good but seeing my family eating food and knowing that the time is getting close I guess made me broke down. I'm not gonna lie I'm missing eating real food, I'm scare I might cheat. I need advice, what else can I consume other than my Protein shake, sugar free Jello, sugar free Popsicles or broth? What can happen if I cheat and eat regular food? Thanks in advantage!

2 Weeks Pre-Op Liquid Diet
Hi Txsmama My suggestion is to keep yourself away from food if you think that you might fall into the sin of eat it lol....find other activities that keep yourself busy, for instance I work at a MD office and during my lunch the reps always bring us lunch and what I do is stay on my station catching up w/my work, taking a little walk around the bldg while I sip on my shake and etc...there's so many possibilities, don't get scare cuz we are to this point b/c we really need this great tool that medicine is allowing us to utilize to change our lives! Keep in touch my friends

2 Weeks Pre-Op Liquid Diet
Thanks to all for the replays, 72hrs and doing great so far! I had noticed that excuse if I offend anyone but what I really have is a food addiction lol....cuz the shakes fill me up u know normally and my mind is tricking me "eat a bit of this or that" u know that kind of thought...but thank Goodness I haven't sin to it...I have keep myself calm and collected an when I have those thoughts I then keep myself busy to avoid any breakdown.... I was wondering if I can have noodles Soup, not just the liquid but the noodles? I think no! Because of the sodium but I can't remember what the nutritionist told me, I'll ask her tomorrow to make sure cuz I had the liquid noodle soup today and BOY it was so good lol Takecare y'all, this support group is awesome !

2 Weeks Pre-Op Liquid Diet
Hello everyone, I finally started my pre-op liquid diet today 03/18/2012, using Bariatric Advantage (strawberry & chocolate flavor) and it's not bad as I thought I mean I know is to early to say so but today has been a great day. I'm watching my family members cooking and eating yummy foods in my face but I keep saying to myself "It's all mental, it's mental" lol...I let myself be around them while they eat and cook b/c (it might sound stupid) but I want to also prepare my brain that enough is enough and that I'm ready to commit to live a healthy life. Anyways! Started the pre-op liquid diet at 260lbs hopefully I'll lose 20-30 doing this pre-op, if not then I'll be happy as well and ready for my surgery on 04/02/2012. I would like to know how much y'all lost during the pre-op diet? How was the experience? Any anxiety? Any cravings? Mood changes? Thanks for the feedback in advance....talk to you all later

Hello Tseeks You all going to laugh! So I was re-reading the pre-op liquid instructions from the book that I was provided by my surgeon and guess what! It said very BOLD & w/CAPS Bariatric Advantage it's the MANDATORY pre-op liquid diet for our pts to use.....so I guess I'm going to have a little trip to GNC tomorrow after work to return the 3.5 boxes I bought lol I guess I'm so anxious that I totally forgot that I was told plus that I READ that part of the diet...and I was feeling so weird after I bought them and now I understand why, b/c they went the right ones lol Thanks for the positive support, I hope all the best for all of you. I'll keep y'all update w/my progress

New To The Group/forum
Hello everyone! First of all I want to say that I'm glad I had found a WLS support group that I can basically take w/me all the time (iPhone). My journey started back in September 2011 when I decide to pursue LGBS. My initial weight was 280lbs and I'm 5'6", today I'm 260lbs and my tentative surgery date is 04/02/2012, I had done everything to prepare myself for such an important step that will change my life; nutritionist visits, sleep study which surprisely I was found to have sleep apnea, PFT & EKG thank God are normal, my endoscopy is this Thursday 03/08/12 overall I'm healthy as far as no other comorbidity. All my life I had deal w/weight problems, I had lost wt an then gained back twice and I had done everything and honestly I think that GBS will be the key tool I need to change my life and to avoid having comorbidities in the future due to my unhealthy wt and strong family hx of DM/HTN/CAD/Hyperlipidemia and etc. I'm very confident and positive that I had made a great decision that will span my life I'm to star my pre-op liquid diet on 03/18/2012 and I had bought GNC Total Lean shake for that, but still have few questions that I wish you all can help. The shake contains; Calories 170, Calories from Fat 50, Fiber 3g, Protein 25g, Sugars 2g & Vitamins. I wonder if after my surgery is okay to keep drinking this shake? (I will address this question to my MD on my next OV). Thanks!
