I get the gases when I lay down think it is trying to pass through the system upwards I do have a lot of gas in the lower area too. I laid one my tummy Wednesday and Thursday night and it was great had no problem. I can feel the port but it does not bother me like I thought it would.

well i was banded on Monday 9/10/07 and well so far so good. I ahve a lot of gas but it is starting to run its course. I am not constipated thats for sure. My rumbling gas reminds me of sever hunger cramps but all in all I am not hungry, but I do have my required liquids. I have been on liquids since last Sunday and before that I was on a semi liquid diet so you bet I could eat but I figured that the surgery cost about 16,000 and well why ruin that for myself. I have lost a lot of weight let me see 28 pounds before surgery and another 12 pounds this week since surgery so that is 40 pounds. I have a large inscision across my belly and 4 other incisions across my tummy and brusing in the lowe ab area I think they leaned on me maybe I was a tough old bird LOL. Dr. Sims from Waco said I did real well. My surgery was 45 minutes long not too bad. I started walking almost once I got to my room and continued on doing so until I went home and I do walk around the house and around the house it helps move the gas around. I had a great team a great Dr. and Staff and a great bunch of people in the OR and hospital. I am feeling so much better and the swelling is going down a lot. good luck to all of you that are waiting to be banded.

I had mine done on Monday here ion Waco, Texas Dr. Gayland Sims did mine. I am doing pretty good. I will tell you that I am in some pain and it feels like I have a knott in the middle of the chest but it comes and goes. I am on liquids as the manual calls for. I have a large incision across my belly and 4 more in other spots of my body. I think it will take me longer brfore I heal up

Hey I was banded yesterday by Dr. Sim's in Waco, TX I had surgery at 7:30AM and I was in recovery around 9:00AM and went to my room at providence around 9:30AM. I never knew what hit me once in surgery. However I can say that I really hurt today and my stomach is just growling big time too! But I only desire the liquid diet at the moment. I did find out that if your not having the gastric bypass then things at the hospital are different than it states in the Patient Manual at least it was for me. I was really disappointed. The 4th floor is not just for Bariatric/Lap Band patients it is for all having surgery. Whe you have the foot pumps on well good luck when having to get them off to go to the bathroom. I was not able to bed forward so I had to wait on someone to come and help me and well after an hour of waiting last night to go to the bathroom and yes the dam was ready to break someone finally came in to help me. I was told if you had bariatric surgery not the lap band then you get 2 nurses and 2 assistants per patient if you had the lap band you get who ever you can get. Now Dr. Sims was vary nice and professional I seen him 3 times before going home. He seems to be a very nice person and I was glad to have had him as my Dr. I cannot wait for my first fill. I passed the fast food resturant test this evening while waiting for my perscription at be filled at Walmart my hubby and I went and sat down in McDonalds he ate a fish sandwich and I just sat there, trust me I had no desire to eat it much less smell it. Hi Just got your e-mail,,,yes Melissa did have her surgery and she was back to work when I went in on Sept 5 for my pre op testing, she said it was a walk in the park for her well I will let you know how it was for me after I get home. The only testing I had done was just Lab work there werer no Xrays or other test for me but my BMI was a lot less than yours but I don't know if that matters or not. Today was my worst I was hungry all day and I am a type 2 diabetic and this was against all the rules my sugar ran low all day and I don't like that feeling. I was weighed in and then I was measured. I lost about 30 pounds on my own so that is a plus for me. Melissa said I will do just fine so I am holding her to those words. I will let you know how it all went for me. Good luck with your's. I have little spider veins and the large ugly veins too, but since I have lost some weight they seem to be going down some. I was worried about the pressure of the leg cuffs as I call them and the pressure on the veins and it I could have problems from the pressure that is all. Thanks

No to sound dumb but what is the breakdown of kdgs in english refering to pounds. I am on day 5 of my liquid diet, I am diabetic so I was told to use the gluceran for diabetics/weightloss well I bought this stuff and I was using slim fast high protein and you know that the slim fast if a lot better less carbs same sugar content and protien is 3 grams less than the glucerna but I can add protein powder to that and it is great the fat grams are the same too so in my book the slimfast with protein is healthier for me than what the Dr. said to have

MY GP cut my diabetic meds way back this monday I used to take 2500 per day and now just 500 once per day and I take starlix as well for the diabetes and I am doing great, my levels are so normal it is great and I take maxzide for HBP but it is the lowest dose so I will keep this in mind too

My surgery is sept 10 and I am on the fifth day of the liquid diet and I am doing real well so far. I have two slim fast with protein shakes per day and at dinner I am allowed to eat anything just about that is broiled or baked, nothing fried and no caffeen at all I drink water daily bi=ut never 30 min before or after meals. I was a diet soda drinker but I don't miss it and as for coffee I bet I acn have decaf when I pick that habit up again. I just tell myelf I can do it , there is a lot of minds games I do to myself but in the long run the answer alwasy si the same I am doing this for my health to feel better to get off the meds and to look better as the end result. I have lost 27 pounds to date from June until now and 7 of those pounds are from the pre op diet. My diabetes for the first time has been normal and I can just cry for I know that this will be resolved in no time after surgery. Good luck to you sharon

I was always intubated during all 6 of my past surgeries but I was kncked out like a light and did not even think about it but that cath tubing I hate that thing and yes I will have that one too (probably) I don't like being knocked out I was told I will get a tequlia sunrise right bet it is not what I was used to drinking though LOL for sure. I hate the feeling, for me it sounded like you were going real fast and then boom your waking up in recovery. I am a bit of a chicken so I will see if someone will hold my had as I am going under.

Hi did anyone have to be placed in what they call foot pumps, these are inflatable things that wrap around your legs for circulation during and after surgery. Just wondering how those might affect some like me that has a lot of veins in the legs. Let me know

Day 5 on pre op diet and not too bad. I have two slim fast with protein shakes per day and I eat veg and no fried meats for my dinner and it is all under 80 calories and yes I get hungry but I grab me a bolltle of water and ahve me a mozerella cheese stick or the no carb yogurt and I do alright I have lost a total of 27 pounds during my summer break from school and 7 og those pounds came off this week alone and if I can do this now I can do it later we all can

I will be banded on Sept 10 I am having it done in waco and let me tell you I have a binder with all the info in it and I am now on my liquid diet and I will ahve to scarf down 90 grams of protein per day every place is different.

I was going to jit my Dr. up on this question next week when I go for my pre op testing about the gallbladder why keep it an take a chance on it having to be removed later, I look at it like this he will be in the same area so why not

I am having my surgery on Sept 10 and I was told by the Dr. and his staff about the new lap band, if it should slip it will not have to be removed becasue there is another buckle that can be released and then the band can be re positioned the band just came out in June of this year.

My Dr. told me to get Phillips Milk Of Magnesia for that problem

Hi Girls You know I ahve not been banded yet, but it is coming real soon, however I discussed this with my husband about him not wanting me after surgery because of somone else, he told me that there was no one and that there will never be no one and how he knows that neither one of us will ever cheat for if we were going to do that it would have started before now. I have told him that I will not give up my home if this ever happens and if he wants to remain in the home he can do so on the other side of the house and not in our bedroom and if he should find the need for some tramp well she is just going to have to get used to seeing my face becuase this was and is my home and this was and is my life and after all my years of workign my knuckles to the bone no woman willever take that from me.

I have Firstcare and Firstcare is one of the plans that do cover 100% of the cost, I was sent a letter and found out it was just a form letter that gets sent out because most insurances do not cover this part of the procedure but mine does I was getting confused and upset all in one but we are much better and on track

I am having pre op testing on Sept 5 surgery is Sept 10 and no has ever mentioned stress testing to me, nor ekg nor upper gi. I wonder what all he is going to have me do during my pre op testing, now I am worried. I am walker but a stresstest on a tread mill is not the same I have TM at home and it takes everything out of me to use it.Time will tell. I have had a gastro problem since Tuesday and oh my it needs to go away soon my poor belly is in so much pain.

I heard that people with COPD are not candidates for this surgery. My husband has COPD and a big belly but he is not no where over 100 pounds overweight I think he is 80 pounds but he is waiting for me to have mine that way he acn see how I do before he considers his.
