  1. What have been your biggest hurdles (wut kind of reactions)? Congrats on your weight loss.
  2. Right! That sounds crazy! Smart move to find another Dr. Good luck! I hope you get good news.
  3. Are you doing selfpay? If not can you talk to your Dr. if you can just continue the weigh in's (or any requirements) for an extra month or so, just until you pass the probation or feel more comfortable asking for some "vaca time"?
  4. HIL-AR-IOUS!!!! Never trust a shart!!! Holy guacamole!!!
  5. That is strange. There are a few people I have met on here that are still doing the pre-appnts (i.e., upper GI's and endoscopy) before they go to Mexico. I wonder why some doctors in Mexico have such a difference in requirements. Strange. Do you have any co-morbidities?
  6. I'm sorry to hear that you are having so much pain. I haven't been sleeved yet but, from what I have heard pain after the surgery is normal for at least a couple of weeks. Have you asked for a higher pain medication? I've also heard that holding a pillow on your stomach somehow helps relieve the pain. I'm sorry I couldn't be any better help. You made this choice because you didn't want to continue down the path you were previously on. You have to believe it will get better. You may be off to a rough start but you will be screaming for joy when you pass the finish line. Please keep me posted on your recovery.....even if it's slower than you imagined.
  7. I hear a lot of people mention how the gas is unbearable. What is the feeling like? Is it because you can't pass it? I'm not trying to sound funny but, when you have gas don't you just pass it? Or is it the pressure on your stomach that makes it hurts so much?
  8. Oh no!!! Hopefully everything is ok and you get your new sleeve. Do they have any idea what it could be?
  9. They postponed it because they though you didn't have enough time to meet the 30lb goal? When was your original date? I called my insurance company today because I didn't want to be thrown any last minute surprises. My insurance case manager kept telling me "call your surgery coordinator she knows all the in's and out's". The whole time I am thinking aren't you the insurance company? Shouldn't you have all the answers?!?!!? Wow!
  10. Wow you have been waiting a while! Good news is you don't have to wait for insurance approval!!! I think that is why I was not toooo upset about having it in December. One last holiday feast. It's not like I won't be able to eat next year but, it will be a completely different feeling lol. "the stress of waiting is making me fat(ter)" Good one I love that! Good luck to you!!
  11. I have Health Net California. I was told they only go by the first weigh in. I would not be penalized for loosing weight. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, 3more weigh in's left.
  12. I asked my Dr. and he said reasons would be a low BMI. Another could be for not following the required visits (psych eval, nutritionist, weigh in's) and check in's have to be consecutively, no gaps. I am still in the pre-sleeved phase. Hoping for an approval in December. Are you waiting for an approval?
  13. Wow! Talk about a waiting list!! When are u hoping to have your surgery?
  14. Welcome! It's great to meet more December ppl. Have u been approved or are you going through the requirements like me?
  15. I was just drinking 100% whey (vanilla) but now I have switched to ON hydro platinum whey. It's better with milk than Water.
  16. Great to meet more December ppl. Do u hv to meet any requirements or u been approved yet?
  17. The first thing I thought when I saw that picture was 1) glad your are resting comfortabley. 2) It must have been extremely uncomfortable for you to have the extra skin. I hope nothing but good days lay ahead for the new you.
  18. I have two more months of weigh-in's before my doctor will submit for approval. I'm hoping for December. Good luck to you!!!
  19. Yes, welcome welcome!! That must be some details sleep study. Does your insurance have a waiting period? I'm in California, I've got to wait 6 months. Getting my Protein in 2x's a day is HARD and I don't really eat lunch so you would think it would be easy for me. I always forget to drink it!!!!
  20. No not at all. Most insurance companies send you the requirements for bariatric surgery. A check list of sorts. They also give you the time line. In my case (Health Net) requires a 6 month check in period. During that time you have to do various requirements. I would start there. Then you'll have a better understanding of what to do next. Just ask them if they cover bariatric surgery and ask if they can send you the guidelines or requirements. And whatever you do don't miss a month of weigh in's. If you do you have to start from the beginning.
  21. Yep exactly right! And if they require a note you're doctor can make something as vague as possible. They know the routine. Your job can't question or probe it.
  22. Have you confirmed that your insurance will cover the surgery and how much you will have to pay out of pocket?
  23. That is dramatic!! Why the move?
  24. OMG! I never take pain medication...not even Advil for a headache so I'm just "assuming" I will be good with whatever is prescribed. Oh gawsh two weeks of pain. I think I would shoot myself in the foot, just so the pain can be directed elsewhere. Good luck with your approvals. It would be nice to know the Dr.'s are actually on our side...instead of it being for the almighty $$$. December buddies yeah!!!
