the sex is over
Masturbation can lead to hot sex as well. It's not just a "last resort" for people who aren't able to be with a partner....that's an antiquated idea....can be fun for all involved and lead to fun for all involved

They had me a surprised intervention.
What you're doing seems pretty normal and not something that should cause the problems you're describing. Maybe another doc's visit would be good....maybe they need to do another barium swallow or something?

Sharp pain on left sude post op
Is it the location of the larger incision? That one is tough....if someone pushes on it it hurts me still

They had me a surprised intervention.
For me, even if I do all that perfectly I still occasionally get sick....I try to measure it just right, but sometimes I overshoot it.

the sex is over
But sex toys are fun too....even people with amazing sex lives need a little self-lovin'

Oh excuse me i didnt know the food police worked here!
Just shake it off. People have silly attitudes. Some of them might be jealous that you don't have to be obsessive about certain foods anymore.... I'd suggest you not let them throw you off your healthy eating plan....someone's lousy attitude shouldn't bring you down! Remember that you're worth it, and you're better than that.

Hello all
I imagine some people won't get it. They won't understand why you did what you did. Many of my friends don't understand it at all. But they DO understand that I'm smaller than I've been in years, and they like that. To be completely honest, if I over-do it and get sick after lunch, I just secretly sneak off and get sick and come back because I don't want to deal with the crap I'd get from my co-workers.

Hello all
If this helps, when people ask me that silly "why don't you just follow the post-surgical diet now" question, I tell them I couldn't, which is the truth. To be fair, I could, at times, restrict my eating and get lots of exercise and all the other things our doctors want us to do. And in the short term, those things would help me slim down a bit. Diet and exercise do in fact work, no doubt about it. But what always happened for me, is that I would be extremely hungry the whole time I was on a program like that. I would think about food all the time. I would dream about eating at a buffet. So for me, that situation was not realistic as a long-term solution. I can't imagine living the rest of my life feeling like I am deprived of food. This surgery has helped me resolve that problem. If someone doesn't like it, too bad. I can finally enjoy food like normal people and not have to feel hungry all the time.

Finally!
Glad you are having success, even if you've had to struggle through some early complications. The pictures look great!!! Here's to your continued success and no more complications

Regretting surgery
How large were the incisions? The largest is usually around 15mm, and the others are usually smaller. Or did they have to do yours as an open surgery? I agree that even if it feels horrible right now, it will get better as your body continues to heal. I was in a ton of pain during the first week, but over time the pain went away. It might not feel like it but your pain will dissipate. Plus, it might be a bit early to be thinking about "outcomes" when your surgery was Monday and it's not even Friday yet. Outcome is more of a long-term thing....in time you might appreciate the outcome more.

Alcohol calories and working out
Guess I'll go get a stick of butter instead of the bottle of Jack Daniels I was planning on downing.

Alcohol calories same as others?
Do you really believe some people can violate the 1st law of thermodynamics? "Traditional calorie math" works on CARS!!! If you measure gasoline in calories and then put a car on a scale with a treadmill-type device, it will gain weight if you add fuel (calories) faster than it is burning them. And it will always lose weight if it burns fuel faster than you add fuel. Energy cannot be destroyed, only changed from one form to another. A calorie is the amount of energy necessary to increase 1 cubic centimeter 1 degree Celsius.

Alcohol calories same as others?
Good. I also worked in metabolic physiology labs for years and loved every second of it. But the yahoo article doesn't cite what papers support it.

six month medically supervised weight loss not losing
If anything, I think it would be grounds for them to approve you, since you've now demonstrated that traditional supervised programs aren't effective. Clearly you need something more drastic.

Alcohol calories same as others?
Citation Needed! The body will always turn excess calories into fat if you are consuming more than you burn each day, but it takes more than 1000 cal/day to keep your body alive. In terms of other health issues (liver and such,) I suppose other calories are probably more "healthy" than booze. But as long as calories in < calories out, you will lose weight.

pizza 3 months out
Pizza isn't so bad for you if you only have one slice. Right now, I can only get a part of one slice down.

4 weeks post op and eating too much!
Different doctors also "size" your stomach differently when they construct the sleeve. My doctor uses a larger "bougie" than some because he finds it to be most effective balance between minimal complications and effective outcomes. So while I can never really eat "large" or even "normal" portions of food, I imagine I can eat more than others less than 2 months out. But that hasn't stopped the excellent results....

Right out of surgery: how much walking is enough?
Maybe you could just go on short walks throughout the day before you feel like you hit the wall. That's what I did and was soon able to do much more.

What do you appreciate most about your weight loss
Most? Watching my diabetes go into remission. That was truly wonderful to watch. I no longer have to take anything.....no pills, no insulin...nothing!

question please answer. I'm scared
I had already done a sleep study at another time and have been using a CPAP machine for a few years. It really makes a huge difference for me. If I don't use it for a night, it feels like I have a nasty hangover. Wearing a mask to sleep took some "getting used to" but it was worth it for me.

Winning!
I've had time to "sleep on it" to see if I really still feel this enthusiastic. I do! This surgery changed my life forever and it's already happening.... VSG works!!! I'm a believer!!!
