Im Not Special.....
I think you're special:)

Starvation Mode?
Yes, it is true, but mfp is calculated for normal people on normal diets, not for people that have had wls. Also.. be careful eating that many calories that soon out.. I think the average person with wls shoots for 1200 calories after 1 year... check with your NUT

Is It Just Me?
Fumny.. I noticed that too and the first week or two was really hard but now I just think all that food looks like it would end up hurting in some way and I'm so greatful no not even care about it.

Never thought I'd hate food!
I'm not having any physical reactions to food, for me I know how bad my habits were before and I'm scared to eat and scared that I won't get sick and start bad habits again.

Cute Story...
So... I have two children, daughter 16 and son 11. The other day my son and I were out walking and talking and he says, "Mom, I don't get it". Me: you don't get what? Son: I thought they were gonna cut off your stomach? Me: well honey, they did cut off most of it but they have to leave some or I wouldn't be able to eat. Son... lifts up his shirt, makes a karate chop type motion down the front of his "stomach" and says, "Mom. I've seen your stomach and they did NOT cut it off"! Time for an internal anatomy lesson... too cute!

You look great!

Hungry?
This is exactly right. The only thing I would add is if you do feel hungry drink more Water. Our bodies are confused and sometimes can't tell the difference between hunger and thirst.

One Week Post Op - Hungry
I agree.. I felt like it didn't work! In reality it was my body healing and head hunger. Its really difficult in the early weeks to tell the difference between pain and hunger. Be careful and stay hydrated. Once your body gets further along in the healing process it will get better. I'll be 4 weeks out tomorrow and I think I ate a little too much tonight. If I didn't know better i'd think I was hungry. Apparently it takes a while to learn all the cues.

Besides weight loss, what has been the biggest benefit since getting surgery?
Ditto to all above... one thing I wasn't expecting is that my 11 year old son gets so excited to go on walks with me. If I'm not up to it he gets all sad and mopey and that gets my but walking really fast. Im looking forward to continuing a healthy life with my children. It's all I've ever wanted

New Sleeve Chest Pain
I was having the same problem and it wasn't gas. Sometimes the muscles around the largest incision spasm... dI'd your surgeon give you a muscle relaxer? I complained of the same thing at my 10 day post op and they told me to resume the muscle relaxer that I had quit taken. That helped a lot and almost immediately.

October Sleevers- Anyone Hit The 3 Week Stall?
I hit the 3 week stall at about two weeks out. .. I figure with pre op that's 3weeks. It lasted about a week and a half where I eent up and down about a pound. Then it just started falling off again. The body just needs to catch up. Stay on track, your doing great!

Coming Out of the Weight Loss Surgery Closet: What, Whether, Why, and How
This is a great post, thank you. Unfortunately I can't keep a secret so I've told everyone. It's astounding to me just how completely ignorant most people are and their pre conceptions amaze me. What's funny is most of the time they think they're right. .. I get comments od disbelief over the amount of food I eat at work, when other people are eating or if someone brings in goodies somebody always apologises. .. I tell them it's ok, that it really doesn't bother me, the truth is, when I look at that stuff all I can think is ,' that looks like it will end up painful'. I honestly just wish people were more informed and didn't just have the gossip from ... my girlfriends cousin's neighbors aunt that had wls said... oh well maybe someday

Everything I Eat Or Drink Hurts
Arg... I'm 4 weeks out tomorrow and same thing... also I'm having trouble staying hydrated. Very frustrating!

How Long Did You Think About It Before You Decided?
My surgeon was my client for over 4 years before I had the surgery. Honestly, he really pissed me off as he would say things like, you would be a perfect candidate for wls. Wtf??? Who just comes out and says that? Anyway over the years I came to realize he is one of those intellectuals that spend more time in books and less time socializing. Lol... about two years ago he got me into the seminar. That definitely sparked my interest, so I spent almost two years after that researching and being in denial. This summer my family went on a hike on vacation and I couldn't keep up... had to keep stopping. .. the day we got back I went straight to his office. He happened to be in the front office. He noticed me, stopped talking and pointed at me. It was really awkward so I just laughed! He said, 'your gonna be great' then continued on with his conversion. .. so in short, almist two years

Pissed Off Husband
Well... he's probably freaking out about your health and safety and the money. As a man he probably feels like it's his job to keep tje family safe and provided for and rihht now everything is completely out of his hands and there is nothing he can do about it. He'll come around. .. it's in his nature. I know you're the one going through the surgeries but he's going through a lot too... men just (usually) suck at the emotions and communication thing! Good luck, I'll be thinking about you.

Sleeping Comfortable After Surgery...
Laying down wasn't the problem for me it was getting up! I don't have a recluner either but I do have a big comfy chair and an ottoman. With pillows it was comfortable and much easier to get out of. I slept there for about 4 days

ANTHEM BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD PPO CALIFORNIA
I have same ins. Sleeved 10/21. My surgeon requires a $2500 "lifestyle management program" fee is hat is not covered by ins. I spent one night in the hospital and I paid about $5000-$5500 all together. My copay is $1000 and out of pocket us $4000. So.. without the program fee about $3000... if I required anoth night in the hospital it would have been another $1500. ***requirements. ..bmi 40+, 100+ lbs overweight or bmi 35+ w/2 co morbidities...

I Just Want To Cheat
I've never heard of that. My surgeon said as a last resort to use carnation but it was imperative to use the higher quality and higher protein drinks. Maybe instead of asking your NUT you should call your surgeon and ask him.
