Excellent advice! I am starting to feel large and in charge:) of course now I'm tweaking about two things. 1) what insurance will cover post surgery if I do self pay. Will they blame everything on the surgery and deny me coverage? 2) gallstones... Does dr Kim remove your gallbladder? I don't think I need it... He can have it. He can take my appendix took.

So I am 99.9 % self pay. My concern is what would happen if something went wrong. Like if I had to stay in the hospital as a result of a complication... Would Cigna pay for the stay even though it was related to something I didn't go through them for? Or what if 5 years from now my gallbladder is removed... Do I have to pay bc I paid for the surgery? Just wondering how that might work.

Do you know how they base the required testing? Did you have sleep apnea or a pre-existing condition? I wonder if I can schedule my appointments now prior to the meeting so I am ahead of the game:)

Hello, I go for my first info meeting and was initially set on the sleeve. Did anyone else change their mind from the sleeve to rny? Why and are you happy with that choice? My fears with RNY are with malnutrition and the seriousness of the surgery. I am 5/5 and 240 lbs which puts me at like a 39.9 bmi . Thanks for the help!

Thanks guys that is definitely helpful! The idea of the bypass makes me nervous, I just didn't want to go brought surgery and then fail! I was beginning to think I wouldn't work at the sleeve. Like I was sleeve broken

I started at the band and realized the sleeve was for me, but now I am wondering if bypass is the way I should go. What made you decide?? I've ward bypass is better for grazers and sugar snackers, but I'm afraid of the serious complications of by pass. Thoughts?

Thanks so much! I honk my insurance might cover it but they have like ten thousand hoops to jump through and I don't think I fit all the qualifications (diabetes etc). Did a lot of people attend the session? What did the psych visit entail?

Hi guys I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread. I have my information session next Wed. Can anyone walk me through it? Did you sign up for a consultation on that day? I am at a 39.9 bmi and I have these visions that I will be turned away because I am not at 40:( How long did it take you to get all of your clearances? I too would be self pay. so does that mean I would have to pay for all the extra screenings out of pocket? I am also looking at Florida Surgical Weight Loss. I have had similar experiences with both places where calls back have been hard to receive and people don't sound exactly warm over the phone. Is that normal?? It kind of threw me off. Thanks!

That I went in for my consultation and my dr was the dr from the human centipede. <shudder>

He has offices is Tampa , Lakeland, winter park, zephyr hills . There are other docs in the practice but he is really well known for lap band. I didn't know if anyone had him for the sleeve

I am still a newbie ad waiting for my consult date. When did you receive your surgery date ? At nutrition? Psych? It looks like I will have my psych and nutrition app on the same day . How long does the psych take?

lol, I am thinking that the food on the cruise should be ok... lot's of soups and the like to choose from. I'm sure I could find something suitable!

I am in the researching phase but 98% settled on sleeve. The surgeon said I could go in October. I have a cruise booked thanksgiving week. Will I be ok to travel 3-7 weeks out?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure I'm posting in the right place, but I hope so! I am a 33 year old woman looking at the sleeve procedure. I started with the lap band but through additional research think that the sleeve is the way to go. I am 5/5 and 240lbs. I have struggled with weight all my life. I'm sure you all know the story...loose it and back it comes. I have never not been in a battle with my weight. I have had my thyroid checked, tried every diet under the sun and nothing. What's interesting is that my eating habits are not insanely bad. I have read about post up lifestyle and I'm like, oh that's what I eat now. I'm so tired of the struggle though. I am wondering though... (my apologies as the return key doesn't seem to be working on this computer) does anyone regret their choice? I have this fear that I won't be able to stop losing weight if I have the surgery and will become a 89 lb sickly person. Does their come a point where you can maintain? Are their any blogs or articles you would recommend reading? If you knew then what you know now...what would you tell a person looking into the surgery. It looks like I could go in as early as October. I don't want to make a rash choice but I feel like I am ready. Thank you all!
