Papaya Enzyme - anyone use or heard of it?
Hi I was wondering if anyone has used or heard of Papaya Enzyme? I am 3 weeks post op and I have been nauseous ever since I started on Protein shakes. I have tried several brands of the protein but all have affected me the same way and I can only force myself to get about 4 to 6 oz in and I am supposed to be getting 8 to 11 oz every 4 hours. So I went to the Vitamin Shop today and talk to them and they recommend when I drink a Protein shake I take a Papaya Enzyme it is used to help break down the protein and it should help with the nausea. So I bought some and I am going to try it tomorrow.

OVER A MONTH POST OP AND NO CHANGE!
I personally think I am not getting enough protein. I am suppose to be on just protein shakes and get 8 to 11 oz every 4 hours but because they make me so nauseous I am only getting 4 to 6 oz every 4 hours. I am pretty sure it is the WHEY making me sick so tomorrow I am going to a store that sells egg white protein and I am going to try that.

OVER A MONTH POST OP AND NO CHANGE!
I am having the same issue. I am 2-1/2 weeks post op and the first week I lost 16 lbs and since then I haven't lost anything. I am very discouraged and aggrevated cause this is when you are supposed to lose the most. I have not been able to get all my protein shakes in because they make me nauseous and right now that is all I am supposed to be on.

Post-op type 1s?
Hi I am type 1 and have been for 32 years and I had surgery on Jan 6th. First week and half my sugars were running high but now my night time insulin has gone from 15 units of Lantus to 3 units. As far as day I am finally normally range on my original 50 units of Lantus but my doctor says that should start to come down soon. I think the blood sugars stayed high for a while cause it is so much stress on the body at first.

How do you tell when you are full?
Hi I am starting on mushy foods next week and I am afraid I will not be able to tell when I am full. I have found now that I sometimes push my self with the Protein shakes and then I feel sick but I don't feel full.

frustrated and need advice
I am still getting nauseous with the Protein shakes but I had a sample of the unjury chicken Soup and it is really good so I ordered it and I am going to try the Premier Protein cause a lot of people have recommended that.

Bariatric Fusion
Watch it cause I am 2 weeks post op and I tried different kinds of protein before surgery and found some to be ok but all that changed after surgery now I have been through 3 different kinds and they all make me nauseous.

frustrated and need advice
this is the second protein I have tried and I am using unsweeted almond milk which is lactose free. I am on 64 oz of water and 4 protein shakes a day that are 8oz each.

frustrated and need advice
Hi I am 2 weeks post op today and I am still on only Protein shakes. The Protein Shakes make me nauseous and now even the thought of a Protein shake starts making me nauseous. I have another 8 days of this, I don't know what to do. Also getting so discouraged the first week I lost 16lbs and now I have not lost anything since that first week. I hope I am doing everything right.

6 days post op
Is it normal to feel kind of weak? I know I am only 6 days post op but I just feel really sluggish. I am on an all clear liquid diet so I hope it is just that. I am trying to get up and walk as much as I can and I wonder if I am doing enough of that. However I am type 1 diabetic and my blood sugars have not been under 250 since surgery so I know that is also playing a factor in my being tired.

feeling nervous and anxious
Well thank you everyone for the words of encouragement. I think today has been the longest. My dog is my baby and she got really depressed seeing me pack a bag and I think it really hit hard after that. But tomorrow there will be no turning back and I know all will be good from there. I told my dog there will be lots of walks for her!

feeling nervous and anxious
Hi everyone Well Monday is my day, I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am for surgery at 7:30. I am feeling very anxious and nervous about it. Not necessarily about the procedure but afterwards I am so afraid I am going to go thru all this for nothing. I am worried I will not be able to do it and I will not lose weight. I have only lost 7lbs on my pre op diet but I have slipped here and there. Another thing is I don't like to be in the hospital all alone. I do not have a big family and I know I won't have visitors and I am the kind of person who like to have others around. Please just let Monday be over and let me be able to succeed. For now I am going to go try to stay busy and go see my horse at the barn.

Im a sugarholic
I am getting ready to have surgery on Jan. 6th but I am definitely a sugar addict. I shouldn't be cause I am type 1 diabetic but that is what gives me comfort. I am so scared that is what I will not be able to control after surgery. I so called started my pre op diet on Monday but I would say it is not going so well. I am still having a cup of coffee in the morning with splenda/sugar mixture and everything else I have been doing ok with. I think I am still consuming too much for my pre op diet.

Pre op diet over the holidays
I start my pre op diet the same day Dec. 23 and I am also concerned about how I am going to do.

APPROVED
I am thrilled I just got approved by my insurance! Surgery is Jan. 6th. I really didn't doubt that they would turn me down with a BMI of 40 and being type 1 insulin resistant diabetic and now have sleep apnea.

Pre Op Phase
Hi I am still probably a month to 2 months away from being sleeved, however I am trying to start now eating better and less. I was just wondering if anyone else out there is doing the same thing or did that a month or 2 before the pre-op liquid diet? I have been doing just ok with it. I get this feeling every afternoon like my body aches almost like I am getting a cold and I am wondering if anyone else has had that feeling, wondering if it is like some withdraw from the amount of foods I am eating or maybe because it is different healthier types of food? Any suggestions or experiences will be appreciated.

Any food addicts here?
WHOO HOO!! I am proud of myself I think for the first time in my life I turned down a donut! At work people usually bring in donuts once a week and today we had them and I did get up and go with 2 others to get one but I looked at them and told myself no...I have a protein bar. So now I am sitting here eating my protein bar and not a donut...YAH ME!

Before i was sleeved 8 weeks ago 55lbs gone forever !
That is awesome! How did you lose it so fast...what are your recommendations?

Any food addicts here?
Hi I am in the middle of my pre op journey, hopefully I will be sleeved in January. I am also a food addict especially my sweets. In the last few weeks I am really been trying to not eat many sweets and cut back on the amount of food and as of now I am finding it is getting easier. I used to drive by Panera or somewhere and think mmm that orange scone would be good and the next thing I knew that it where I was sitting in my car eating an orange scone. Lately I have been able to tell myself no I don't feel like taking the time to stop and I would rather have that few dollars in my pocket and I can go home and grab a yogurt. I know I am going to slip up and by no means am I cured from my addiction I just look at it at the end of each day and say to myself I made it one more day! Plus I am an emotional eater. Lets stay connected and help each other out!

Feeling Alone
Hi everyone I am getting closer to scheduling my sleeve (should be sleeved in January). Next month is my last NUT group class and then I will have a one on one with her. I go tomorrow for my stress test and I have to redo my EDG cause I had a small ulcer and that is Nov. 5th. However tonight I am going to the surgery seminar that my doctor puts on and it is mandatory. I am going alone even though I wish my husband would join me. I feel like he is not very interested in this process at all cause he thinks I am going to fail again. He wants me to lose weight so bad but he doesn't even ask how my appointments go when I come home, all he does is harp on what I eat and how much. I am an emotional eater anyway and he is not making it easier for me...I feel like throwing my hands up in the air and giving up. But I know in the long run this will be the best thing for me and my type 1 diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, and no energy. I asked my sister if she would take me to my next EDG appt. since they put you to sleep and her response was I would rather take off to do nothing or to do something fun. My mom has turned to pills and half the time she can not even function, she took me last time and boy was that an experience. Sorry just feeling sorry for myself and venting.

2/3 of the way to goal
Amazing! I hope I can do the same, I am not due to be sleeved until January. How hard did you exercise? I am so afraid that is going to be my down fall.

Anyone from Maryland?
I am also in Southern Maryland. I am just starting my journey, I am due to be sleeved in January. I would love to know where about the individuals are in southern Maryland. Been trying to find someone to be a buddy with and maybe compare notes and get together to exercise or just talk about the experience. I am seeing Dr. Gandsas in Annapolis and so far I like him and his staff.
