  1. No need to say thank you. You'll be telling me to feck off in a New York heartbeat. Everyone else does x
  2. lol you could enlist the help of a cosmically sized combined harvester and I still don't think it'd do the sprinkling trick, honey
  3. Don't be alone. There are hundreds of us on here who have been where you are. I am not a band to sleeve revision, but I know what it's like to have no familial support. It sucks. But we're all here to have a natter with if you're feeling crappy or despondent. You never know, we may even be able to raise a smile or three. I know it's not nice to feel like an island - but you're not an island. You have us mad lot backing you up. Whether you like it or not x
  4. That incision is where they remove the part of your stomach they cut away. Within that incision are also sort of 'tethering' stitches. These are attached to the muscle, which is why if you pull them a bit, they hurt waaay more than the others. Try not to fret. Give it a few weeks - perhaps 4 -6 and all of a sudden, that 'tethered' feeling just disappears. Its like the stitches dissolve and you're back to being you - just with incisions healing on the outside and your stomach healing on the inside. All perfectly normal - and your scar looks great. As long as you're not over-exerting yourself and other than the 'oooh, that's weird' kinda feeling is all you're encountering, all is well. The moment you get any seeping or pain and fever, you have to go back to your surgeon.
  5. Mine are no longer objects of sexual desire. They have a practical use. I can shine my shoes with them during the day. And in the night, they double as a neck and armpit warmers. I'll be first on the plastics bench as soon as the 'margin of skin shrink' has taken place. Hopefully takes place... PLEASE GOD LET IT TAKE PLACE!!!!!
  6. Ha! Well deserved and well consumed! Out of interest, I do hope that second one didn't go to hubby - no matter how lovely he is!
  7. Oh, Sandee, I feel your pain. I woke up choking on my own bile. Went up my nose, inhaled it - the whole nine yards. It is grossly unpleasant. What I found useful was limiting caffeine, not eating three hours before bed. Propping myself up at night. Nothing acidic, nothing too rich... Just keeping it really plain and boring. Honey and Cider Vinegar can help. Just a bit mixed into Water and chugged. Not drinking plain water - strangely. Here's hoping your twice a day tablets can help keep it at bay. Keep us posted and hope you feel better soon x
  8. Fred - You've so got this. None of us are infallible. We're all going to be facing these demons at some time or other. Its a brave thing to come back and say 'Hey, you lot, this is how it is..' I admire you
  9. Hang in there, honey, it does get better - promise. I came to the conclusion, in the very early days, that anything down my throat was good. Consequently and for the first two weeks, i didn't worry about whether something was 'sugar free' or 'fat free' or not. I just ingested what I could. If you need some energy, try adding some gatorade (not the sugar free stuff) to some Water and sip on that. It'll perk you up no end. It will get better - you just have to get through the first few weeks. Hold tight
  10. Nope. Door to this thread.
  11. Totally! You've got your mind to overcome one of my biggest personal struggles. I have to clean a plate. Still have to. Consequently, the plate is either pretty small, or the human dustbin opposite gets it. Well done, honey.
  12. Eh? <scratches her head>
  13. After everything you've been through? Eat-the-bleedin-pop-tart. You deserve that much!!!
  14. For the record, I'm not being a 'jerk'. If I wanted to be a 'jerk', i'd be going into individuals' threads, winding people up, calling people names and the like. Ringing any bells? I think most would observe, I haven't done that - even if by implication, you think I have. Humorously, I would hazard a guess - those getting most offended by my rant, are those most likely to identify with the pattern of behaviour observed... If that's you? Well, sorry, but this is a 'rant and rave' section (as keeps being endlessly repeated). If you don't like it. There's a door... I suggest you use it ------------------------->
  15. Hopefully now I've linked her, she'll be easy to find. Best of luck to you and your Dad.
  16. lol it's true! My man made the pulled pork (he's from the south), and he leaves it plain for me and then I add what sauce I want! He drowns his - but us brits just aren't built like that! And why would your hubby react like that to your chicken snack? I do that ALL the time! I'm always found gnawing on animal carcasses..
  17. Erm, I didn't even know you could get sugar free BBQ sauce?! So clearly, that's a no. BUT, to be fair, I don't like too much sauce on mine so it was more plain pulled pork with a light smattering of BBQ. It was Breakfast, after all
  18. Hmm.. if you're in severe pain, i would go back and see your doctor. If it's just 'grumbly', have you tried going back to liquids/mushies/soft foods for a bit. Ideally not rich or spicy.. To see how you go?
  19. I think you need to speak to @RJ's/beginning. She has experienced so much with regards to this procedure, her resilience is dumbfounding. What she doesn't know about complications - isn't worth knowing. She's a lovely lady, so you will benefit greatly from talking to her. I wish your father the speediest of recoveries and I'm so very sorry he's suffering like he is. Feel free to ask us about anything if you need to. You're clearly a great daughter. Hang in there and all the best
  20. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery. Glad they found what the problem was and sorted it out quickly. You'll be all shiny and sparkly in a few days
  21. Many many congratulations! Exciting times ahead!
  22. My breakfast this morning was pulled pork. I'm not even joking
  23. I was up and walking around day 1. Out and about properly, day 3. Went food shopping. What a 'joy' that was 'Hmm.. today, I shall largely be purchasing.. nothing!' As for having to 'represent' for a few hours. You can definitely do it. Just make sure you have a pre-made Protein shake on you and sip that and Water at regular intervals. It'll give you what you need and allow you to really enjoy such an important day. You'll do great
  24. To be fair, I couldn't give a rats arse whether anyone is enamored with this post or not. As with most things and as I have been repeatedly told - if you don't like something, move right along! It is, after all, in the 'rant and rave' section of the program! So and if this point has escaped some, it avoids singling people out in their own threads (because that's attacking an individual ) but just 'sows the seeds of thoughts' for an individuals own reflection... It is, rightly or wrongly, my viewpoint. Although most don't agree - most have overlooked the core tenet. Which is, for those who missed it, that if an individual can't be faffed to do in-depth research for themselves - wishing people to 'spoon feed' them repeatedly - then how does that bode for their levels of personal accountability post surgery? How does it benefit them or the site? It doesn't. Now, if it's my mistake to assume that surely people want to 'add' to the pot - not just go through the motions time and time again - then I clearly miss the point of a forum of this nature and I'll hold my hands up to that. I see the value in 'reaching out' - I really do. I have acknowledged and said it many times before. I am also in awe of the people who are not tired of responding to it. I, too, ignore what annoys. Sometimes, however, it gets my goat so I thought I'd state that. I don't, however, see the purpose of people not taking accountability for their own information needs and also being a bit lazy in how they go about it. I do, however, concede there are often difficulties in this, when using the phone app and with the search function itself. As for the drama... One might want to review ones own last post and make an evaluation from there on that one... Attention seeking? Ha! As above. I could always take it down to base level for you; start posting topics entitled 'OMG HELP!!!!' for it then to be an exposition of eating half a lettuce leaf with a molecule of ranch dressing on it. Asking people to anticipate down to the millisecond when it is they will likely expire... But no, to make everyone feel 'better', I shall simply state that I love you all and am available, day or night, for cuddles, tear-wiping, forehead soothing and speaking in hushed, baby-like monosyllabic tones. That, if unsure, would be the 'half baked', 'half witted' portion of the program
