  1. Might have something to do with the lack of carbs. Carbs make you feel warmer. Try putting on another layer of clothing on your trunk and see if that helps. When extremities are cold, it is usually about core body temperature. Unless, of course, you have any circulation issues - like Rainaulds (sp/ph) disease... If your hands start going inexplicably white and sore, then perhaps get it checked. If you're not 'suffering' through it, I wouldn't worry too much. You're so soon out, your body is doing all sorts of weird things at this stage. I know I was considerably colder. My feet suffered more than anything though. So, it was wrapping up in lots of technical cold-weather gear and a few cups of tea to raise my temperature. Congrats on your success, btw. That's immense! May I ask what your starting weight and BMI were? All the best
  2. Hehe, you'll be fine. It will all be fine. When I was running around the house with all that nervous energy - I decided to clean it. Burnt off all the energy and ensured I came home to a nice sparkly clean place. I was glad I did! Best of luck for tomorrow and keep us updated.
  3. What a transformation. You look terrific. Sincerely. Well done.
  4. You try on pants you've not worn since you bought them 2 months ago and they're already too big. *sigh*
  5. That amount of loss happened every time I washed my hair from it starting at the 3.5 month mark, till the 7 month mark. My temples got threadbare and so did my fringe area. I could see my scalp. Now, at approaching 8 months, I have horns of regrowth at my temples and the fringe area is taking its sweet-ass time, but it's starting to happen. Here's to you eating loads of Iron and not having this happen. Congrats on your approval and welcome to the madness!
  6. I think you lot use 'whine' or 'whining'. Whinging is most definitely a British thing. I like the sound of it. Although, come to think of it, i like 'Whine', too. It sounds like the act itself...
  7. Search '3 week stall'. In the search function on forums. All the discussion you could ever need on this point is within there. Don't freak out. Happens to all of us. Some, sadly, more than others.
  8. Take LOTS of Iron. I mean, lots. It helps things dramatically. More so - dare I say it, than all the '150g of Protein a day' contingent. i complained to my doctor and they said 'up your iron - by a lot - and eat red meat'. As soon as I did that, the loss abated. I posted a couple of threads on this very subject. Sadly there are many threads on this subject. But.. if you want to see what happened to me at the 4.5 month mark.. This is it...
  9. Welcome to the madness, Bonniebeth!
  10. That is some achievement. You look amazing. Many many congratulations
  11. You look cracking! Congratulations! I, however, would not be able to wear a swimsuit like that- ever. A swimsuit without underwires in it?! HELL TO THE NO! These badgers need maximum support! You look great
  12. I have told no one. (Apart from my finance) I was working it on the basis that if you want to keep it a secret - you keep your mouth shut. Besides, I didn't need the noise. And it would undoubtedly have generated noise. My life, my decision. Everyone else can naff off. The only people I talk bariatric surgery with, are you lot and the people who had surgery at the same hospital I did. That is quite enough for me
  13. Might do whilst the incisions are raw. I went for one of those pull-on, moulded, total elastic thingamebobs. I have a fair rack, so I needed some support - else I'dve been cleaning my shoes. It was a godsend. Post healing, normal underwires have been fine. However and if I've eaten until I'm 'full' - the underwire at the sternum can be a bit of an excess pressure and I'm often found whipping it off after dinner in my house! If I'm out, i eat less - cause I don't want to free the boobies in a public place! It would scare people, for sure!
  14. Top right hand corner of this screen, where it says 'hello Cindi2014', click on it. It will say on the right hand side list 'My Tickers'. Click on that, follow instructions, add details, voila!
  15. 'Disappointed'..REALLY? I'dve told her where to shove that 'disappointment' - patronising cow-bag. All this, is about her being upset you didn't seek her counsel before making such a big decision. And ultimately, choosing a different option to her initial advice. Like most grown ups do, when they're going through a decision making process. They assess, evaluate and decide! That's why she's mewing like a whinge-bag. Well done you for being so gracious in the face of such condescension. Seriously. I wouldn't have been.
  16. I agree with the above entirely. The only thing I look at, if I feel the need to, is the surgery date and their current BMI. That gives me a good indicator of progress.. But since I passed month 5, I've even given up doing that. Horses for courses. But and for your information - I'm 5ft 10
  17. I'll tell you what gets my goat... (and not in a good, curried kinda way) It's when people PM you. But not just any PM. But a sentence or two, which incorporates a million generalist questions, all of which they could find out the answers to, if they could bother their arses to search. But no, my duty of care kicks in (thinking of all the possible reasons as to why someone really couldn't find their way to search for 'types of bariatric surgery available', or something equally banal) and I spend 25-45 valuable minutes of my life explaining the ins and outs of a ducks backside, in the hope that I've given them fair and balanced information. So what have I got in response? 'Thank you' 'Much appreciated' at WORST - a 'like' (which, incidentally and in this instance would be wholly insufficient. I am not paid to be individuals' researcher or counsellor, so a 'like' would actually be incredibly rude - in my books) I have gotten... TOTAL.... TUMBLEWEED! I have been tempted to respond to people like this and not in a good way.. But then I'm comforted by the righteous thought.. 'No, you did the right thing..' But after being bitten like that twice - I have sussed that if people come with 'generalisms' in their questioning, they're invariably lazy. if they're searching for specifics, and have read enough of my posts to make specific reference to areas they were confused/hurt/offended by/ laughed at/worried about, then I know that they're genuinely in need and the arse will once again, be bothered to help. So YEAH! Start answering tumbleweeders!
  18. Well that's appreciated... but I don't think it helped Rj any and for that I'm critically apologetic. I love that chick.. and tonight, I am very .... what do you Americans call it? Pissed? In a 'funk'?. We all have our insecurities, which rear their heads at the most inappropriate times. For that, I am most sincerely sorry. One of my oldest comrades (and not in the communist way) was diagnosed with PTSD in the last 48 hours. And he's struggling. We did the same ****. Its made me reflect on the stuff I've done with him. And how I'm dealing with stuff. (And this is an open disclosure as to my profession) He's a genius in my world... and I would walk to the ends of the earth for him and he, I. As Marc Cohen said in the song 'Walking in Memphis': 'Tell me are you a Christian Child, 'I said 'Man, I am, tonight'..... And no, this is not hijacking... this is honest and open disclosure... with a big dose of an apology to the most gracious RJ..... Forgive me x
  19. Those dark places.. i live in them, for different reasons... Your reasons, however, are more valid than mine ever were,,, Stay strong, sister xx xx
  20. LOL I'm so sorry, sometimes it's just a vomitorioum of inappropriateness that leaves the ends of my fingertips. Particularly when I'm riled. But on reflection - it's kinda true, isn't it?! x
  21. I love you, too, Rj.. But seriously.. you're better than these superficial insecurities. You know this. We know this. You're our bariatric mother, after all. And that is meant with deep love and affection. No surrender, my love. Ever! Big hugs and kisses xxxxxx Now, who wants to get into it with me tonight. I'm ready. OH BOY! AM I READY!!!!
  22. Love you, too, baby-boy x
  23. Okay, I'm tired, emotional, I love you Rj - but.... Who the f**** cares. Whether you started at 5 billion pounds, or started at 20lbs overweight. We've all been on this site long enough to know that the milestones we reach are all BMI related. Those that start higher, lose more. Those that start lower, lose slower (and this is a caveat, without complications). Particularly if you have such nasty afflictions such as thyroid or PCOS issues. (Ad infinitum) I couldn't give a rats ass about someone's 'pounds lost' -and neither should you. Its all relative. I am concerned, as selfish as it sounds, about me. And I will look for parity in my results with those who started at the same time as I did, with similar metrics. So some of us were heavier, some of us were lighter. We all have different circumstances which brought us to this point - the point of 'enough is enough' and we took action accordingly. Are you 'lesser' because it potentially 'took you longer' and you started at a higher weight. No, this is a psycho-social issue of which no one has the right to comment, unless they have walked that path. Your path. If it makes you feel bad - it shouldn't. There are many like you. Some, dare I say it, 'worse' if that is the right term to use, than you! Some of us are executive decision makers and largely (scuse the pun) forward looking. Some of us sit in our darkened corners, ruminating and cogitating about whether taking such extreme action (and whatever way we cut it, the decision to have WLS is extreme), is right for us. I love ya, RJ - but this is a non question to most - i.e me. It's a question for you. You're the one who is drawing those comparisons with others about metrics. It just smells like personal reflection. And for the record, I have enough of those demons, without having to validate whether my excess 80lbs are more important or valid, or 'enough' to be ashamed of, than anyone else. Frankly, I couldn't give a rats ass. LL was right when she referred to individuality. It is an individual process. Dazzled by the numbers? Yes, I suppose i was. Through experience and a better than average ability to understand basic metabolic rates, height/weight ratio and food addiction versus capacity issues - I know that MY issues are going to be just as hard and just as challenging than anyone elses. But still, I'm trying. Did I take the decision to do this more quickly than other people? Hell no. It took me 10 years of career progression, working in war-zones, saving a substantial amount of money and more importantly, the TIME to take this out for myself. But, I did it. Because I started out as a 'lower weight' than a lot, does it invalidate (just for LL) my 'journey' (cue non 'stuck' vomiting). It does not. This is a non argument and one, I don't recognise, nor validate - and unapologetically find a bit tedious. Ultimately, we all laid our arses down and got some borderline Aspergers candidate to remove 85% of our stomachs. Glorified skin/organ seamstresses. It took as much courage and situational recognition whether we were 50lbs overweight or 200lbs overweight. Either way, we did it and the loss rates, as long as dietry compliance is adhered to, are the same. I think I've made my point. RJ - this one is all about YOUR perception. Which you are welcome to. I frankly, couldn't give a rats ass about this issue as it concerns me. I'm walking my path as best I can. As previously stated - I look for similar metrics and empathy of particular circumstance. It is largely 'process' related. I can hope for psycho-social parity. But it is unusual. My life and my decisions are unique to me. As they are to you. My experiences are not 'pan-bariatric pal' related and given your heartbreaking troubles with regards to your recovery, they are most certainly unique to you. Stop listening (read 'reading') the noise. It's only a website and it's f******ing with your head. Right... Love and light and most importantly; Peace out <walks off to take a valium as her day has been quite enough already. No hard feelings. I'm just out of patience today>
  24. Fanks, love. The hair loss is a really distressing thing when it happens - I will not deny. Felt like it was endlessly just falling out in clumps. Don't get me wrong, my hair is still falling out (particularly when I blow dry it), but there is re-growth, too. Guess it's just that growth cycle thing I have to contend with now. Hopefully it'll all be back to normal at about month 12. Knowing me, I'll get to the point when all the bald bits are filled in and I'll get it all cut off! I'm a fussy sort! Here's hoping you're one of the lucky ones and you don't lose any hair. They're few and far between, but it can happen. Here's to consuming LOTS and LOTS of Iron
