  1. I actually came back from my GP yesterday on an un-bariatric-related issue and had to drop into the conversation about GERD. I stated that the drugs they gave me at the private hospital for reflux/heartburn were rubbish and that I'd reverted to taking Omeprazole (which I had leftover from catching HPylori whilst overseas) and said they were much better. His response was 'certain PPI and antacids work for one person and don't work that well for another - sadly it is trial and error'. That being said, the dude was kind enough to prescribe me some more Omeprazole 20mg which i only have to take before my evening meal, because he said 'clearly these work for you'. I can recommend those - although I doubt they're OTC. Failing that, I found that 150mg of Zantac (generic name 'ranitidine'), which is what I took before the surgery and when I was feeling particularly rubbish, is pretty darn good. Make sure to take it on an empty stomach, let it do its thing for a bit, then you're set for a good few hours - if not the rest of the day. Best of luck! x
  2. Oh dear lord.. this Spag Bol is a-maz-ing.... Right, sorry for hijacking. Please resume discussions centred around pizza at 5 weeks out. I shall be munching on blended meat and tomatoes and garlic and.. oh for the love of sweet jesus, fresh basil.... <burp>
  3. No need for the justification. I'm just bloody jealous!
  4. Well.. I just tried to eat a jar of baby food. The alleged flavour? Spaghetti Bolognese. It was so foul, that after one mouthful, it made my stomach lurch so i threw the whole thing in the bin. I then proceeded to take some steak mince out of the freezer, including peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms, basil and passata out of the fridge and bay leaves and paprika out of the cupboard. So, I'm currently making my bloody own! (Just without the pasta) I know this isn't regulation, but the way I see it, if it goes in the blender and I can Water it down with a bit more passata, what's the difference between that and bloomin' manky, additive laden tinned Soup?!!! Now.. I wonder if I could get away with putting some parmesan on it afterwards?.... dum-de-dum-de-dum
  5. Dude. Really?! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
  6. A whole 9 days! (Still on the fluids/baby-pap/no lumps/soupy/would eat a fungi infested dead dog if I could diet stage)
  7. I would sell my kidney right now for a slice of pizza or bacon sandwich.. You're not going to get any form of condemnation from me!
  8. Right there, that stopped me in my tracks and damn near broke my heart. I am so sorry darlin' you feel like that. Loving someone is being attracted to them. All of them. Inside and out. x
  9. Ignore the naysayers. Become single minded and zone them out. As for the pizza in front of you? The night before my surgery, I had pizza, chicken tenders and washed it all down with a coke! But then in saying that, my surgery wasn't till the following evening... If you can hold off, you need a medal! Seriously! Best of luck with your surgery. Youll do just fine x
  10. If I got into a size 16 dress by then? I'd be tempted to take it off in the middle of the function and run around the room naked! Thanks for all your posts, guys. Looks like there's a steady average weight loss being experienced in and around that time frame. Much awesomeness! x
  11. So that's a bad food, is it? Crikey, I'd be looking to chow down on some of those at least once a week!
  12. Made my day, too. I was more than a bit partial to a bit of Veuve, Taittinger and Lanson prior to this craziness!
  13. Deep breaths, steel yourself - you can do this. Go get 'em, tiger. We'll all be waiting for you here afterwards x
  14. This IS a no judgement room. Any judgmental types, are invited to leave their ego's at the door before stepping inside, thank you. Because, primarily, I am so sick of seeing that kind of BS on this website and I wanted a happy 'yeah, I'm human' kind of a chat thread. In fact, if i see any narkiness of that kind, I actually might have to give a toss enough to get my verbal scythe out for once and trust me, all you've seen is happy-go-lucky, relatively balanced Revs so far. You wouldn't like her when she's angry.... (tries to lower her BP so that the green tint doesn't start to show too obviously) Clearly, if someone has done something injurious to their health and there have been a couple of posts which indicate that this could have been a possibility, there is a natural duty of care to offer support and counsel (as was done by laura when she gave a gentle warning to newbie operatives scarfing down normal food too early, which, lets face it, is dodge-o-rama. Or to the lady whose eating disorder is re-appearing and consequently requires some love and medical intervention). However, may I suggest that if you feel so strongly about those who have posted something a little scary, please message them on the side. After all, tone is everything and can often be misconstrued which leads to those ever-so-tedious flaming sessions. So, now, back to blending doughnuts and tootsie rolls into Protein shakes to get them in more easily... x
  15. I know this will receive differing responses and yes, I know every body, diet, weightloss is different, based on height/weight/genetic make-up. However, I would like to know of all you people who were at the 250lb mark on your day of surgery, if you remember how much you'd lost by, say, the 9-10wk mark? I have a function coming up in that timeframe, and I'd like to gauge peoples responses to find a mean figure (geddit?Mean figure? No? Okay, I'll shut up now) Muchos gracias! x
  16. I'm so glad you said that as eloquently as you did. I was about to start a new thread entitled 'Shut up about stalling, it's boring me rigid!'
  17. It shows an inquisitive and analytical mind. Nothing to apologise for! Welcome to the madness! x
  18. Go get 'em, tiger. You will both do brilliantly and I'll be thinking of you all the way. Big hugs xxxxx
  19. Dudes! I am so very proud of you all. But really? 'I ate some ice cream'. 'I ate some cheese goo on a cracker'. Damn, I was wanting to see 'Yeah, you know, I went to Crystals and ate 25 of their cheeseburgers. I washed this down with a large coke (through a straw), large fries and had apple pie for dessert'. You lot are positively saintly!!!! x
  20. Your stomach is on your left, your gallbladder is on your right. I'm not saying it isn't related, but 5 days post op there are lots of twinges and things. What I will say though, is who advised you on your post op diet? Crackers and cheese certainly wasn't on my list. If you're feeling bad, you absolutely have to go back to your doctor and as soon as possible. I wish you the best of luck x
  21. He surely did. My man has the most amazing... okay, wait, wrong website. Shall we get back to talking about bariatric dirty little secrets instead of deviating into my personal dirty little secrets?!!
  22. LOL erm, Lady, thanks for the offer, but you're not my 'flavour'! As for the PPI, I think it would be required, for sure. And Laura, be sure to get as much mileage out of this as you can. We all know you being in the 'world of right' doesn't happen very often! Muahaha
