    Easter Challenge

Hi Easter Challengers. So happy that my weight this week went into Onderland - it is a little surreal. I've been stalled for almost a month. Today's weight was 197.4. Am trying to hit my Easter challenge goal of 195. Looks like I might make it this time. Thanks.
  2. I will be almost five months out soon and yes feel this us quite normal. I get the strangest noises from my throat. All very normal as long as you don't overfill your tummy you'll do great.

    Easter Challenge

200.6 today's weight. Scale just doesn't want to move. Will keep plugging away.
  4. Hi Jojo. I was thinking about you but wanted to give you a few days after surgery. It sounds like all went well. The whole team at St E's is fantastic. I look forward to my follow ups with Martha, always learning something new. So glad you are well. Take it slow for the first week then there will be nothing to hold you back. Best of luck and keep the updates coming. You are a "loser" now; said in the nicest of ways of course.
  5. Hi, I'm about 4 1/2 month out of surgery. Doing well but weight loss has slowed to a crawl. I'm down about 57lbs and have about 40 to go. I am eating between 600 and 650 cals per day, 98% protein and drinking a ton. After a quick call with my nurse she told me she thought I was not eating enough. What are you eating at 4-5 months out? What is a good caloric amount to jump start my weight loss? Any suggestions are helpful. I'm waiting for my nutritionist to get in touch. Thanks.

    Advice about calories

That confirms it. Seems like I'm about 300 calories short. I'm going to change MFP from 600 per day to 900 and see if I can get things moving again. I typically eat less than 30 carbs a day. Best of luck to you all. This is a wonderful journey. Thanks for your responses. Every little bit helps. Denise

    Easter Challenge

Hi. Starting weight 200.4. Hopeful goal is 190. Thanks Bea.
  8. Seela I'm slightly behind you. I was 4 months out on march 13. I seldom get all my water, I find it really hard. I don't drink caffeine or have sodium for that reason. Vitamins make my pee almost highlighter yellow color. I get in about 40 ounces a day and my doctor said while I need more; 40 oz won't lead to dehydration unless I'm in extreme heat and sweating from exercise a lot. Good luck and slowly try to increase over a day. Best of luck.

    Easter Challenge

Thanks Bea. Really appreciate it. Loved St Pats day challenge so looking forward to this one.
  10. How you holding up? Getting very close now.
  11. I was sleeved on 11/13/13. Doing well down 59 lbs since surgery. Wanting to break into the 100's. I've been hovering between 200.2 and 201.8 all week. Doing fine but just found out I have a minor stricture that will be fixed endoscopically on Friday. I can only eat 1-2 ounces and get a little nauseous after I eat so doctor wanted it checked. I don't throw up but just feel kind of blah for about 1/2 hour after eating. Doc says opening the stricture will make a world of difference. I still supplement with two shakes a day to get enough protein. Hair is fine, no issues, taking 6000 mcg biotin daily along with all other vitamins. Best decision I've made for myself, want to lose another 30-40 lbs but can actually see it happening this year.

    St. Patrick's Day Challenge

Went up slightly to 201.2. Goal was an ambitious 195 although I would have been thrilled to break out of the two hundreds. Hopefully that will happen within get next days. On to Easter challenge. Thanks Bea for all your work.
  13. My first visit was in august I was 257. I'm 5'5" and 47 years old. Today I was 200.4. Ultimately I'd like to get to 150. I'm hoping to get there by the Fall. My surgery was in Brighton also. Is the lake your live near in Wakefield? I'm in North Andover. You must be thrilled about surgery. I haven't attended one of the support groups at St E's but am going to try to as the days get longer. I think they are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.

    St. Patrick's Day Challenge

Morning. Weight was 200.8 this morning. So close to onderland I can taste it. Probably next week.
  15. Congrats to you on approval and a surgery date. Aside from some maybe tough days at first you are headed for a great journey. Be optimistic and try not too worry about anything. You are in good hands and Dr McCluney is top notch. He is so caring and really wants the best for you. I'm trying to start running my trouble is just finding the time. It will come though especially if we can get to some warmer temps. Best of luck in your prep for surgery and keep in touch. I would love to follow your progress. Are you having surgery in Boston or south shore?
  16. I had surgery with Dr McCluney at Saint E's on November 13, 2013. I loved everything about him and his staff. My surgery was typical, went well and I was very comfortable within hours of surgery. Used only pain meds in hospital on first day and didn't even fill the prescription they sent me home with. Post op care has been great. I first met with him on 8/13/13 and had surgery 3 months later to the day. BCBS was insurance and it was extremely quick. His office did all the leg work. I've lost 54 lbs so far and couldn't be happier about my choice for surgery and Dr McCluney. Best of luck. You are in excellent hands.

    St. Patrick's Day Challenge

Please add me to this challenge. First one for me. Can't wait. Thank you for the hard work. One question do you have to create an account in order to update the sheet?
  21. I was sleeved on 11/13 and have lost 32 lbs so far. I lost quickly the first few weeks after surgery but now I have this crazy pattern going. I stall anywhere for 7-12 days then quickly lose 3 lbs then stall again for the 7-12 days then over another two days lose 3 lbs again. When I have those stalls I try everything to break it by upping water, upping protein. I sometimes eat the same thing so that might be a culprit too. I eat almost no carbs and am still drinking two shakes a day because I can only take in 2 oz of protein at a time. I wish it were faster but I'll take it. Still feel 1000 times better than anything done in the past.
  22. Am just home from the hospital sleeved on Wednesday. I can hardly get anything down and have a horrible crushing feeling on my chest. Is it gas? What will help? Any idea how long it will hang around?
  23. Thank you. It sounds like nothing to really worry about. Thanks for the comments. Everyone is very helpful.
  24. My surgery day is Wed, Nov 13th. I don't really have a pre op diet but just need to eat light. I'm excited for this surgery but all of a sudden am scared, not from the surgery but that I will fail. I have been eating chocolate and Cookies, know I shouldn't but can't seem to get this under control. I have worked really hard to get this done but now that it's here I'm nervous and worried that I really will not be able to succeed. I am going to do shakes til surgery day to get this under control. Any suggestions on getting your head in the game? I was game face for months til now and now that I'm here I know I'm only sabotaging myself. Thanks in advance for the help. Thanks

    Need My Game Face On...

thank you so very much Lisa. What you said makes so much sense. I am 100% committed and just have to keep remembering that in the hard times. I started fresh this AM and am ready to make life long healthy changes. Not sure if I posted in the wrong place. I'm getting sleeved but that really doesn't matter, sleeve/band the struggles are the same. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
