  1. Hotmomma, good to have you back, sorry to hear about your wrist, wish you the best!
  2. Doctor Gonzalez is an excellent surgeon with an excellent track record and great follow-up and aftercare. I recommend him without reservations.
  3. Nice words Bubblebutt, very well put. Thanks for sharing that.
  4. There is no point in arguing with BubbleButt. She will go on and on with plain bad information. So she actually takes patients to her doctor and goes in with them? Interesting. She does show up everywhere doesn't she? Aceves has a paid referral program? HHMMM..Well I guess bubble and dr. A are a real nice marketing team, aren't they. What has this world come to? If I know bubblebutt, she'll never stop saying you are me......sad..... Nice meeting you Passive, even under the circumstances! Please PM me.

    Dr Rumbaut in Mexico

WASA: Yes Rumbaut and Aceves may be good, but not necessarily the BEST. Here is a little something Rumbaut published not long ago (please read below). If your "global statistics" are hovering around 1% for erosion (quoting you: “Sadly, erosion does happen in about 1.3% of patients.” ) thenwhere does that put Rumbaut? (he did the study, 2.9% erosion).... how about slippage? Also 2.9%, how does that compare? Erosion is almost three times as much(2.9 to 1) as your "global statistics"? Not so good? And Quoting you: “There are docs with a 0.00016%** erosion stat vs. others who are seriously dangerous with a 3-4% erosion stat”. … But yet in another post you say: and I quote: “Personal opinion but I think Rumbaut and Aceves are the two best surgeons in Mexico.” Which is it bubblebutt? You have to make up your mind! Rumbaut’s statistics on erosion are one tenth of a percent from “Seriously Dangerous” and yet in your personal opinion he is among the best????? The problem is not Rumbaut's statistics Wasa, the problem is YOUR "global statistics". Rumbaut’s statistics are average (port infection is high though). You have been using a broken measuring stick. The information you have been giving readers on this subject is way off, and you refuse to admit it. Please do some real research WASA, unsupported statements cause more harm than good. If you want to post as a reliable source of information for fellow members, don't go by what you hear, hearsay is cheap and easy to come by, not so with true data on paper. The comparison between Rumbaut's published statistics and your claims only casts a shadow over any other "statistics" you may have posted elsewhere on this forum. Not very reliable..... You need to offer real statistics, all with tangible, published backup, not "someone told me". **By the way, FYI: .ooo16% erosion translates to one erosion for every 625,000 procedures, even you can’t seriously consider that!!! Obesity Surgery, 13, 275-280 The Lap-Band® System in a North American Population S. Ross Fox, MD; Katherine M. Fox, RN, MPH; Myur S. Srikanth, MD; Roberto Rumbaut, MD* The Medical Services Organization, Surgical Weight Loss Clinic, Tacoma, Washington, USA and *Hospital San Jose - ITESN, Monterrey, Mexico European and Australian results with laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) using the Lap-Band® (Inamed Health, Santa Barbara, CA) have been impressive, with over 100,000 procedures completed at this writing. However, prior to U.S. FDA approval in June 2001, U.S. patients had to travel out of the U.S. for this procedure. This study reports on a series of U.S. patients who requested off-shore referral for LAGB placement. Table 5. Complications Complications n (%) Dilatation/band slippage 2.9 Erosion 2.9 Port tubing leakage (disconnection) 2.9 Port infection 3.8 Band removed without revision 2.9 Revision to gastric bypass 1.9
  6. You say you have nothing else to use for stats other than INAMED's then you say that my erosion stats are outdated, do you or don't you have more statistics? I do not have to dwell on this any further because as it is, I have yet to meet or hear from one of doctor Gonzalez's patients with complications on this or any other forum, have you? I respect the fact that doctor Gonzalez and his staff are sincere when they say their total complication rate is less than 3%, at no time was erosion singled out. With the amount of research that I have done it places them well below the mean and that is an extraordinary track record. I am doing well, no complications a losing weight successfully. The same for the other Dr. Gonzalez patients that I have met and keep in contact with. Please let me know when you run across at least one post of someone with complications after surgery with doctor Gonzalez, because to date I have not.
  7. I did call Dr. Gonzalez before my surgery, and he clearly stated that his more than 10 year experience in lap band surgery showed a mean erosion rate of less than 3%. If you got anything less from your surgeon I do not think you got the correct information. Global statistics for band erosion has been shown in some studies to reach as much as 9.5% (Obes Surg. 2006 Jul;16(7):829-35.) while others have shown as little as 1%. It all depends who is giving you the stats my dear. Please do a little more research ant try to use a little common sense. Complication rates will be reported within a wide range, depending on a wide variety of factors involved in each study. You have to READ and gather as much information and then establish an average. You are being very simplistic when you state your global stats come from INAMED. They manufacture the lap band so they will obviously report the numbers most favorable to them. Gather more information and be a little more thorough. If you are going to dedicate your time to dirt shoveling it is not fair to the surgeons or to the members of this forum if you burp out comments before substantiating them with a little more bibliography. I would call this action in our lingo a UPB (Un-productive burp).
  8. You really do invest quite a bit of time trying to find dirt on Mexican surgeons don't you Bubblebutt? I did extensive research on Dr. Gonzalez before surgery with him and I think your stats, both global and Gonzalez's are wrong. I suppose your surgeon's stats are the best.........right?
  9. You are impressed by the aftercare given to you by a doctor that did not do your lap band surgery? I know that Doctor Gonzalez and his team are good, but this one takes the cake! WOW! Gonzalez and his crew just do not cease to amaze me. good luck short c!!!
  10. mehean you should not drive the day you are discharged. They probably meant you could be driven from TJ back home if it is a close distance. You are medicated and with not enough strength or quickness for emergency reactions while driving. I went down by myself and you can too. One additional night is the best way to go and it really makes a difference. I was driving after my 4th day because I could wait, its always best to stay on the safe side and not take unnecessary risks. Congratulations and keep us posted!
  11. Hi sleepy give Laura a call 877-247-2263 if Dr G is not in surgery you can talk to him directly, if not his right hand man in clinical management Dr. Valenzuela will give you all the information you need.

    Mexico Doctor

Dr. Francisco Gonzalez, excellent track record (over ten years doing lap band surgery), 1st rate facilities, 15 minutes from San Diego International airport to his office. Why drive 2-3 hours? I got my lap band with him, great doctor, excellent human being. Give them a call, you have nothing to lose but weight! 877-249-2263.....click here.
  13. Thanks for starting this thread, its turned out to be a great place to exchange information on doctor Francisco Gonzalez and the lap band procedure. Congratulations to all lap band newbies out there and keep posting your experiences.
  14. It is a silly question if you consider the fact that Chris, the little "lap-bandida" has throughout her posts clearly said (and signed) Doctor FRANCISCO GONZALEZ. Lets not get mixed up here, when they made my doctor G, they broke the mold! On another frequency, Hey to all!!!! GIGI!!!!! where are you girl???? Our super pro and mentor has not been seen and has not answered my emails! Get with the program girl! Do I have to come visit you or what? I'mmmmmmm lovinnnnnn it!
  15. Bakerman::: Give Dr. Francisco Gonzalez a call', I'm sure whatever your budget for this surgery is, he can accomodate you. Talk to Laura. He has more than 10 years experience, he did my lap band. He is simply the best. Amazing surgeon, great doctor excellent human being, why do I say excellent human being? because he does two or three lap bands a year for FREE. I asked him about this and you know what he answered looking me right in my eye? "If you come to me and your life is at risk if you don't lose weight, do you think I would consider doing a surgery that may save your life if you don't have money to pay me? I feel it is my obligation to give back to the community." He selects two to three patients a year and does it for FREE!! That just blows my mind! if that was not enough he has an extremely low complication rate, I know because when I'm in his waiting room waiting for an adjustment there are always 3-5 people waiting and I've not heard any patients complaining of anything serious. In the two plus years I've been going to him. Call him, it may be the best phone call you ever made.
  16. OMG!!!! call and ask them again just to make sure, for me if I remember correct I was on a diet before and after the surgery ,the before diet was mainly to reduce the liver size for better access to your stomach, and after to prevent slippage... that is mainly what I can remember... Where are you having your surgery done???

    Thinking about getting the surgery!

I can tell you that for me IT WAS A LIFE SAVER , do all the research you can, talk to other people that have had the lap band surgery done and you will see for your self that it is the best tool to lose weight, for people like me at least that have tried every diet that any one recommended to me or the newest diet pill that I could get, until finally I accepted that I needed that extra little help from the Lap band and for me I can tell you, the lapband worked. I'll be happy to help you out on any doubts you might have I went trough this couple of years ago and I know I made the best choice.
  18. Yes I have not only heard of him, but I was banded by him 2 years ago I really don't have any complaints, the personalized service I had with Dr. Gonzalez and His team was great, I have recommended my sister in law and a childhood friend to him and the same excellent service was given to them, call them and also ask all the questions you feel that need to be answered it is a big desicion, and in my case it was the best desicion I could have made.:ranger:

Congratulations Chubbyone ! I was banded by Dr. Francisco Gonzalez on 07/2005. Everything was excellent. Only one of the nurses had a little broken English. Doctor Gonzalez is great! The facilities are as good as any I've seen in the States. You have made a good choice, maybe I will meet you sometime as we are to become "Band of Sisters"

  22. Hello jdhj861jr: I was banded by doctor Francisco Gonzalez in Tijuana, Mexico. I am very excited when I recommend him, because even though he is not so well know on the web, he is very well know outside the web. He has never really been a doctor who likes or does marketing. He has been very focused on his work and his patients. Just recently a few of us (patients) got together and talked doctor Gonzalez into using the web to let people know about his work. He is an unbelievable doctor, he is very very kind and made me feel like family. He is young (44) and very skilled. His staff is fluent in English and so is his patient coordinator Laura, and his nutritionist Dr. Veronica Castaneda and also Dr. Valenzuela who handles clinical management, language is never a barrier. My results have been very good I've lost 80 pounds and am very pleased. I've had adjustments done as I see necessary and Dr. Gonzalez has always greeted me with a smile on his face (he never charges for adjustments). Call Laura at 619-710-5757 or go to GO LAP-BAND. She can arrange a phone consultation with Dr. Gonzalez or Dr. Valenzuela.
  23. :whoo: I was banded by Dr. Franciso Gonzalez (find him at golap-band.com) his staff and patient coordinator were great! The best doctor I have had the pleasure to meet. Very professional. I paid 7,250 for surgery, hospitalization, all pre-op exams. INAMED FDA approved lap-band, he uses no other. You can usually schedule a phone consultation with Dr. Gonzalez, oh and by the way, he never charges for adjustments (fills) and does them on "as needed " basis. :clap2:
  24. For all you fellow bandsters: Dr. Francisco Gonzalez is very well known in the Los Angeles area as well as Arizona and Nevada and of course Mexico. He has been doing lap-band surgery for more than ten years, was in fact one of the first Mexican surgeons to be certified by Bioenterics, now INAMED. The fact that his presence on the web has not been as propagated as others has nothing to do with his experience or his credentials it is simply that he has been very focused doing his job and less focused in marketing. In fact, 99% of his patients are recommended by WORD OF MOUTH from one patient to another and if you take that into account, he has much more experience than many other surgeons out there. Don't take this the wrong way, simply know that contrary to popular belief, there is still a huge world out there outside cyberspace. I am sure that in a few years, if you are not on the web you are going to be left out of the picture, but not now, not yet. Make a note of this surgeon's name Dr. Francisco Gonzalez because you will be hearing (or reading) more of him and 99.9% percent of what you hear is going to be GOOD. thanks and keep losing those pounds!
