  1. Baby steps. Take more time to get to know him. Watch & listen to his comments about how folks look. If he should make a comment about someone else's body image, use that as an opportunity to open a dialogue & feel him out.
  2. Funny thing, I read what you read. I think I need a nap. Lol....
  3. That is awesome!!! size 4 from 22 in 1 year, i wouldn't complain either.
  4. From first consult in July, I changed my eating habits immediately. Lost 18 lbs by nov surgery date, but not sure how much of it was for the 10 day pre-op diet.
  5. I agree. Chew chew chew, slow slow slow.
  6. I bet you lost a few pounds but you just can't see it yet. Especially since you haven't weighed yourself.
  7. I did everything but cardiology. In addition to labs & the sleep study.
  8. Other than my husband, 3 very close friends & my HR rep, no one else nows. Not even my twin sister or family. When folks ask how I lost, I say through healthier eating & exercise. It's been working for me thus far & i will continue to keep it hush hush. I think my approach has made this a very, very positive experience and I'm loving it.
  9. Great topic: 1. Health - longer in danger for diabetes, HP & high cholesterol. No more reflux or seep apnea. Joint & back pain gone. 2. Can run on treadmill for 45 mins straight w no break. (Previously could only run for 10 mins) 3. Love looking at my skinny sexier stature in the mirror & photos 4. Love the compliments from family on my weight loss (especially since the don't know about my sleeve) 5. THE SEX, omg. Loving the way my husband is appreciating the new me.
  10. You always have the right to appeal. First, you need to review the list of exclusions for your plan. If your employer has it written in your policy to cover only one WLS, BCBS of AL must honor the benefits and exclusions as designed by your employer without considering medical conditions. If its not listed as an exclusion, BCBS of AL would follow their clinical policy. Find out how the clinical policy reads. While it may say only 1 per life time, there may be exceptions based on medical conditions.
  11. So glad you called your doctor & doing well. Take care!
  12. Funny, when I go out to dinner with my BFF i often eat from her plate instead of ordering.. She is so supportive, it's unbelievable. Went to Miami with her & a few other friends at 6 mon post op. They were trying to get a list of alcohol to get from the wine & spirits store, before I could say anything, she jumped right in for me & told them not to get the strong stuff that I used to drink. Awesome having a supportive friend.
  13. I told only my husband, 3 close friends & my hr rep. I swore all to secrecy and they've been very supportive. No one in my family knows. Because I don't have much to lose, it hasn't been too drastic. I didn't want the stresses of folks judging or trying to talk me out of it. Nor did I want them to know that my weight & health qualified my for WLS. My family & other folks ask how I've lost weight & I tell them through healthier eating and exercise. They seem to have bought it & now asking me for advice & pointers.
  14. I had GERD for 18 yrs. 4 mons post op, doc took me off meds. Only had 1 episode since and that's because I laid down too soon after eating. No problems since.
  15. Doc had me on 'no strenuous' activities for 4 weeks & driving was on that 'don't' list. No problem for me though because I enjoyed the fact that my husband did all of the driving & ran errands. I took complete advantage.
  16. Awesome! Great birthday present!!!!
  17. Twins are great. I have a twin sister!
  18. Good luck. Just think, this time tomorrow you'll be on the loser's bench! Welcome....
