  1. It's almost been two weeks for me and I have only lost about 7.5 pounds. It really frustrating especially since they want me to lose 20-30 pounds before surgery
  2. As part of my clearances I had to have a stress test done. Has anyone had this done? What should I expect? The cardiologist mentioned that I would be on a treadmill and that the speed would progress and I would have to run for 9 minuets if I can. I told her I would give it my best shot.
  3. Great to hear that Mamachef. I just had my chest X-ray today so they said they would just request the X-ray from the hospital. I still need to lose around 25lbs but they said that if they see progress in the next two weeks they can schedule the surgery. First day of the four week pre op diet starts tomorrow ( two weeks low carb two weeks liquid) wish me luck. I hope I get to join you on your August 2 date
  4. Congrats Mamachef! That is also the surgery date I am shooting for. I have a quick question for you. When I was at my visit today they said they would like for me to see the pulmonary Dr there in the hospital but like you found out they do not have any appointments until the end if July. Was Dr. Kim's office okay with you using the Pulmonary institute or did they give you a hard time? I was able to schedule an appointment with the pulmonary institute for next Tuesday.
  5. Hey everyone I am also using Dr. Kim as my surgeon. I don't have a surgery date yet but hoping I can find out Monday at my appointment. I hope we can all keep in touch during this journey.
  6. jpv I haven't had my sleeve done yet but when I had my gallbladder removed it was just as you heard described. They put me to sleep and it felt like no time had passed when they woke me up.
  7. Thanks everyone. It's hard to explain to someone why I need to take this step in my life. They think "Why can't I just diet and do it" but I have tried numerous diets and have gotten nowhere. I appreciate all of you comments and just helps me feel more confident in my decision.
  8. As I am beginning my journey to getting the Gastric Sleeve I had someone ask me what the difference was from having a Gastric Sleeve verses taking an appetiate suppressant and just eating less. I know I was asked this because not long ago I did a medical weight loss program for 5 months and lost 50 pounds but ended gaining it back and then some. I had no idea how to reply except to repeat the information I learned in the seminars I went to. But this conversation really got me down and had me asking myself why can't I just loss the weight that way am I crazy to be on this journey to a gastric sleeve. I am 5'3 327 pounds and I know I need to lose the weight and I am committed to making my sleeve work but if I am committed to that why can't I do it without it.
