I started losing my hair a few weeks ago, and it's an ongoing issue right now. Every time I brush my hair or wash it, a bunch of my hair comes out. I had surgery Oct. 24th, so the hair loss started when I was about 3.5 months out from surgery.

It seems like you're doing things right. I know sometimes it's frustrating to be in a stall, especially since it can last for weeks. Just continue doing what you're doing, and before you know it, you'll start losing again. Be encouraged because your hard work WILL pay off, it might just take you a bit of time. As long as you continue to follow your plan, you're heading in the right direction. And it's a good sign that things are tightening up! Before you know it, the scale will move and so will the inches.

Hey there, can you give a little more info re: your current diet, and exercise regimen, water intake, protein intake, etc? Are you making sure that you're in the calorie/protein range recommended by your NUT? Drinking enough fluids and exercising? If you're doing everything right, you might just be in a stall, which is perfectly normal during the weight loss journey. Make sure that you're also measuring yourself, because you might still be losing inches! I've stalled several times already and I'm approaching 4 months post-op, however even if the scale refuses to budge, the inches continue to come off! Good luck

I mainly drink Ocean Spray diet Cran-Grape juice, only 5 calories per 8 oz, and it's really good!

My diabetic meds were also stopped immediately after surgery. I actually had some episodes of hypoglycemia in the hospital! Since surgery, every time I check my sugar, it's never over 120.

My doctor had me on a no lifting, bending, twisting restriction for 8 weeks, and due to the nature of my work, I can't have any of those restrictions, so I was out of work for 8 weeks.

Yeah popcorn is definitely a slider food for me too. I had my first encounter with popcorn about 2 months out from surgery, and I could eat waaaay more than I should've.

This winter has been horrid! So much snow and ice what seems like every week has been terrible. Can't wait for the spring time! A little over a month away!

Now, you just have to wait for your surgeon's office to submit all of your information to your insurance, and wait for approval! The approval process varies from insurance to insurance. It could range from a few days to a few weeks. I would call your surgeon's office in about a week or so to make sure they submitted everything. When I called in to check if my surgeon's office had, they hadn't yet, and it took that call to get the ball rolling again! Good luck!

My sister also had the sleeve done, and her pre-op tests showed that she had delayed gastric emptying and that didn't prevent her from getting the surgery. Good luck!

That's awesome Sissy! Something similar happened to me on Saturday. I was a size 24 pre-op, and haven't bought any new clothes since surgery. On Saturday, I went over my mom's house, she had some 18's that she had that didn't fit her. I didn't think they would fit, but they did! It's awesome when that happens because for some reason I look in the mirror and I still see the same old me, I don't see any changes really. But the clothes tell a different story!

Congrats on your surgery date, only a week away! In terms of the surgery, I'd say the earlier the better so the surgeon isn't as tired. 1:15pm isn't so late in the day, I think. I'd be more worried being the last one of the day!

I don't know how I would've been able to be by myself right after surgery. I couldn't bend, twist, lift greater than than pounds. I also have a dog, and I'm not sure how I would've been able to safely pick up and place the water and food bowls. Also, I needed help getting out of bed for about a week or so because it was very painful changing from a laying to sitting position when I tried to do it by myself. Also, showering was another issue when I tried to do that by myself, because of not being able to bend to wash my legs and dry them without being in pain. I'm guessing some others might've gone home by themselves and have been okay, but I think it'd be pretty difficult.

I hear ya! I think a lot of us were going nuts at that stage post op!

It also took me about a week before I was comfortable laying on my stomach. Hang in there after the surgery, hopefully it won't be too long for you!

Welcome to the board, Mandie.I wasn't a type I diabetic, but I was a type II diabetic before I got the surgery, I was only on oral hypoglycemics, no insulin. However I did notice wounds were hard for me to heal pre-op. With this surgery, I an no longer a diabetic, I'm about 3.5 months post-op and recently got my A1c checked, and it was in the normal range. Even though there are more risks involved getting the surgery with diabetes, I feel that the benefits of this surgery outweigh the risks. I was taken off all my blood pressure medications, my diabetic medicine, and some other pills I was taking after the surgery. The weight loss that will be produced from this surgery will greatly help get your diabetes under control. Yes, there's a risk involved, but think about the future, and all the ensuing health problems that might result from the diabetes, and how the weight loss will really help you try to get your health in a better place.
