I see my dr this coming wed(3rd) I will be 7 days post op then... I do feel weak and tired but I am walking around the house more and having less pain too. So that is a good thing! Any tips or advice? THanks
  2. Hi ladies! I just got sleeved this week! This was the biggest reason I wanted to get sleeved! I want a baby! No kids as of yet! Been struggling with infertility for years! Congrats on all the new babies coming along! Can't wait to like you ladies!! I had read somwhere I think on this site about a woman who got pregnant. Her gyno told her to eat an extra 300 calories a day--like a big mack or cheeseburger. And her baby was a normal weight. Thats what Im gonna do! LOL I want the baby to be a nice comfortable weight.
  3. I am doing very well.. Guess what I left the hospital with LESS diabetes meds--no more glipizide pills ( 2 pills of 5mg taken daily for 10 years) Things are looking up you guys!!! Im still taking metformin and insulin NPH in smaller doses, though. My surgery went well with no complications and my doctor was really happy with how healthy my liver was!! I am able to walk around the house-slowly-but I can. Ive been drinking 64 ounces of Water --just sipping my water with crystal light in it! My incisions are healing well. I dont have a lot of bruising on my belly. I finally had two bowel movements today---yippee! I had to use a pillow to hold onto my belly so that if I lightly needed to push I would hold the pillow onto my tummy. The pillow has helped me out a great deal. Its been really hot today and the past few days. So I havent been outside. My family says I look much thinner now in my face. I can see it too! Even my calves look like they have gotten smaller. Im drinking my first Protein shake. Its kinda gross though. LOL That pre op diet was hard core! lol Ive been chewing on Gas X cheweables and its been helping me break down the gas and let it out! lol I took a shower yesterday too! So things are looking up for me and I am excited! I would love any feedback or tips/advice you can give me. Thanks everybody on this site! You all have been so kind and sweet and encouraging too!! My life will begin to change slowly!

  8. With you your first night at hospital? Did you take a shower at hospital later on after your surgery? I have so many thoughts racing through my mind right now! My surgery is 6/26/13 Yikes!
  9. During our sleeve surgery? Is the anesthesia given to us through our IV line or is the anesthesia given through a face mask? I keep worrying about this a lot! Thoughts feedback?
  10. do for your liquid intake...just broth, Jello and and fluids right? Did you make your own broth or just buy pre packaged broth? What was your menu like? lol
  11. Did you get chewables Vitamins or liquid vitamins or just the regular Multivitamins? My surgery is next week and I am not sure what to buy . I really wanna be prepared for this post op!
  12. reaction to a C-section 30 years ago giving birth to my youngest sister. Does that usually mean that I will have a reaction to anesthesia too? A C-section delivery is way different that having the gastric sleeve procedure. Also, I'm pretty sure science had advanced enough to have way better anesthesia meds and anesthesiologists! This is what came up in conversation with my Mom and sisters yesterday...I wonder though if it's a true story! lol Maybe they are trying to scare me into NOT having the surgery? lol Thoughts feedback?
  13. my sugars are stil elevated! I think I am experiencing liver dump syndrome. Also, I am highly insulin resistant. I am on 2 protein shakes a day and one sensible meal. I guess this diet is to help shrink the liver as well. I did have some cucumbers with lemon to be able to have something to crunch on. Im so hungry! My sugar is over 200 in the am and stays that way over the course of the day! I feel like crap! I am drinking 40 to 60 ounces of water! My surgery is 6/26 next wednesday! Yikes!

  16. There are other ways for us the get tested...the sugar load once we are sleeved is just too much for us to handle...it may cause serious vomiting! I will refuse the test thats for sure! All you really need is to get the A1c blood test and get yourself a diabetes glucometer( insurance should cover it ask for an Rx) and test your blood sugar 4 times a day! Ask for the The A1C test is a blood test that provides information about a person’s average levels of blood glucose, also called blood sugar, over the past 3 months. The A1C test is based on the attachment of glucose to hemoglobin, the Protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. Thus, the A1C test reflects the average of a person’s blood glucose levels over the past 3 months.
