  1. My surgery was June 12th. I started at 244 lbs in the 10 day preop diet I lost 10 lbs and was 234 day of surgery. Today I am 196lbs. A total loss of 38lbs since surgery but 48 total and I haven't been exercising like I should yet. Figure now that im down some weight I can start moving a little more because it will be easier to get around at around 50lbs lighter! Yeah buddy! :-)
  2. A whole large cantelope has about 200 calories on average and yes it contains natural sugars however, this one cantelope makes about a gallon of juice.... doubt you could even drink half that in a day so im not too worried about the calorie content at this point as in the liquid stage we can hardly eat about 400-600 calories per day so im pretty sure its alright. Plus a whole cantelope also has 4grms of protien. Maybe one could add protien powder to this as well for an extra shot of protien to make it even more beneficial.
  3. Hey all just wanted to share what me and my bff made the other night together that was sooo yummy!! We took a whole cantelope and blended it down in the nutribullet and added about 3x the amount of water and artificial sweetner to it for a REAL fresh drink option during the liquid stage because plain water can sometimes get a little boring and I was also missing my soda, especially now that its summer time and so warm! This fresh juice drink killed my craving and was super yummy!! Best part u can make it as sweet or not as you want! I def got all my liquids in that day and even had my fruit but lowwww sugar content! This can be done with any of your fave fruits like pinapple, strawberries etc. Love LOVE these simple juice ideas because most things out there for diet drinks arent very tasty. :-)

  5. Also feeling a bit of hypochondria wbout blood clotting now because of what the nurse said to me at my follow up visit about that and needing to walk more and I didnt walk insfead I went to the movies! Ugh!
  6. I had my surgery last wednesday so I guess im 8 days out or so but I am having the WORST pain in my shoulder from the gas still and ive tried everything.... idk but booooo gas pains is all I have to say! I got up and walked circles around the house for almost half an hr to no avail. Took some liquid hydrocodone... used salon pas. Nope... pains still here darn it!!!
  7. I was sleeved on june 12th and am also frustrated with the liquid diet. My new stomach snd taste buds dont like any of the "sweetness" of any of the protien shakes and I feel physically ill... so I read and found out you could boil chicken and then blend it eith broth like a soup and use that for your protien and ive been doing that ever since and it works amazing! Today I even took a can of chicken with the juice pkus half a cup of broth some ff mayo a stalk of celerey and a stalk of green onion and blended it all together to make a chicken salad puree that I could eat for lunch and it was FABULOUS. Had all the flavor! Still eating healthy but giving myself HEALTHY OPTIONS that I like. Its so much better than force feeding myself that shake crap!!
  8. I was also sleeved June 12th and have lots of swelling still. I wonder if having or not having a drain has anything to do with swelling?! My bellybutton incision site is also very sore. I was wondering why that is....
  9. Ok, I know we are supposed to be eating ONLY protien shakes and sugar free liquids but really my new stomach doesn't seem to like the "sweet" shake options. I eat chicken broth but am bored and want something more substantial. Like cottage cheese or something. I know its only 5 days out but what can I have besides the protien shakes?! Yogurt?! Anything?!? I'm dying here.... any help or ideas would be fantastic. Thanks!
  10. Also I notice if I dont take half a dose of the pain meds every 4 hrs the nausea is worse so try that as well!
  11. Honestly if u can do it smoking bud really kills the nausea. just for medicinal purposes. I have a hard time too with nausea anX its made all the difference. Thank god
  12. On my way to get my surgery now! Very nervous but excited too. Wish me luck everyone!!!
  13. I like the performance whey 100% isolate vanilla flavor from costco mixed with half a banana, a small spoon of coco powder and a small spoon of peanut butter! Tastes like a chocolate peanutbutter shake! Yum!
  14. I am a licensed cosmetologist and my sister also had a gastric bypass a year ago and lost a lot of her hair but I formulated a plan for her that seems to be helping to keep her hair from thinning too much. Also, I thought I should add that I also have extremely fine hair myself that was already thinning before this surgery so I am quite worried as well about that but I think if we stay on top of it we could keep the hair loss as minimal as possible! Anyway the first thing is, obviously, keep up ur protien levels and stay away from the bad stuff. Make sure u TAKE YOUR VITAMINS.... it makes SO MUCH of a difference in ur energy levels and in your attention span and mood and everything else and it will help minimalise the hair loss. Also had a biotin supplement to ur list of supplements. I went to costco today to see if they had invented a gummy vitamin for it yet but all I found were gummies for multivitamin, calcium with d3 and one for probiotic. Maybe u coukd find one online tho because the pill version is pretty big. In addition to that you need to be using a special shampoo/conditioner/treatment leave in when ever u wash your hair called Nioxin. This is only available for purchase thru a salon but it isn't that pricey. They also sell a generic version that is just as good at sallys beauty supply store called "Nutri-ox" which REALLY HELPS! You need to use the leave in on ur scalp every day! Even if u cant afford the entire system, which is about $25, at least buy the vitamins and the leave in treatment and do this when u get out of the shower every day! This treatment stimulates your hair follicle and stimulates the hair to come out of that phase and go into the growth phase! Also try washing your hair less often, say every 2-3 days and use dry shampoo between of u feel icky. Another thing is dont over brush or style or play in ur hair excessively as this will encourage hair loss. If you remember these simple little things u should be able to keep any loss to a minimum! Good luck to you all and I hope this has helped! P.s. My sister still has a beautiful full head of hair after following my recommendation!
