  1. I feel the same way only I just took vacation time off work to have it done. You should hear the office chatter about people that have lost weight. SHE had THAT surgery like it's a bad thing. I believe everyone is different and only they know what the best choice is for them. You will do great!
  2. Well my BP is down some since I have been taking meds. It's usually in the 120's over 90 something. I'm not sure how to get the bottom number down. I have been very strict with sodium in my preop diet and have been walking some.
  3. My surgery is on 6/24 and today is my 6th day of pre-op. I can honestly say that I'm not hungry and I'm getting used to the liquid only. I'm not hungry and don't feel like I'm being deprived. If I do start getting a hunger pain I just have another protein shake or yogurt. I haven't craved sweets or even soda and I used to drink them all through the day! I've even been cooking for my family and not eating it! I'm seeing now that eating solids is really a mental thing and I'm feeling like this is going to be a very successful tool for me in my weight loss journey! I know everyone is different but I wish everyone success with their sleeve :-)
  4. Congrats! I hope you have a speedy recovery and keep us posted. Mine is next Monday the 24th and I'm getting nervous!!!
  5. I took the entire day off because I was told the same thing. I had blood work done, EKG and they got tons of family history from me, medication lists and all that stuff. I spent probably 4 hours on my PAT and then had to go back to my regular Dr. because of my blood pressure that same day.
  6. This sounds like me to a 'T'. I am on day 5 of my pre-op with 5 more to go and I weighed yesterday so excited to see my progress...Well, I have only lost 1 lb and I was so discouraged last night!!! I have also lost the bloat but no weight. I can't wait to have surgery on Monday so I can feel like what I'm doing is actually working!
  7. Yay! I'm on the 24th too if I can get my blood pressure under control.
  8. I do have my preop diet I am supposed to start on 6/14 but I will definitely watch my salt and water intake. I have been weening myself off sodas for the past 4 days so I'm going to work on everyone's suggestions. Thank you all!
  9. I'm definitely starting to watch it now. If I can prevent a delay I'm going to do whatever necessary to do that. I just wondered how long the BP meds take to start working in case what I'm doing doesn't help.
  10. I just went for my preop appt Friday and I was put on lisinopril with the warning if my BP wasn't down by my surgery date, it would be postponed. Has anyone had this happen? I'm so scared now it will be delayed because I've been monitoring it all day and its still been 134/94 range today. I just started taking it Friday.
  11. That is wonderful news! My surgery date is 6/24 too. Good luck :-)
  12. I am so happy for everyone here! I go for my pre-op appt tomorrow morning at 9:40. It still hasn't completely 'registered' I'm really having it done!! My BMI is on the low end (35.9 it was 37 but I've lost a few pounds) and I have high cholesterol and blood pressure. I hope to be off the meds after I have lost some weight! I wish everyone luck and success and may you be blessed :-)
  13. Congratulations! Good luck and we'll be awaiting your followup posts!! :-)
  14. Congrats on your surgery date!! Mine is scheduled for June 24th.
  15. I was JUST wondering the same exact thing!!! I go for my pre-op tomorrow so I'm going to ask. I just don't think I can take all the sweet shakes and stuff all the time. I have been looking for other alternatives too. I have my surgery on 6/24. Congrats to you!!
  16. I have been overweight all my life. I am now 37 years old and decided to have WLS. I had my first appointment with my bariatric Dr. On April 25th and after doing my psych eval, gi test and a couple other things the request was sent over for approval. I received the approval notice a week later and now have a surgery date of June 24th! I go for my pre-op this Friday, June 7th. I'm super excited and scared I won't make it through the 10 day liquid diet. Congrats to all the success stories posted here. You are truly an inspiration to me!
  17. Thank you! It's just getting started but I'm super excited! I will keep everyone posted on my journey.
  18. That is an awesome response!! I LOVE IT! Thank you so much!
  19. Thanks for the suggestions. You're right, that is true..being on a restricted diet and exercising. I just hate hearing people talk negative about other folks and maybe in a way I feel like a failure because I could lose some weight but never could keep it off. I've been on a rollercoaster my entire life and I'm ready to be off of it. I have taken the steps for a forever change and I'm ready to rock and roll.
  20. I am scheduled for sleeve surgery on June 24th and I haven't told anyone outside my family. I'm not ashamed of having the surgery but folks at my job can be so cruel and I've heard them talk about others who have had gastric or lap band and they haven't been nice!! I know it's nobody's business but I just don't know what I will say when i'm asked specifically, did you have surgery. Has anyone else encountered this situation and if so, how did you handle it?
