  1. Thanks everyone! All of your comments make me feel better. And the 2 pounds I initially gained have since gone, so I guess it was just some water weight/bloating. I have my first ultrasound one week from today, I think I will feel a lot better once I see that everything is ok! I appreciate all the support.
  2. I am wondering the same thing. Have you gotten any information?
  3. Hi all, I am 8 months out from vsg and just found out I am about 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby. We are thrilled but also shocked. I did not plan to get pregnant this early. I wanted to wait a year as my surgeon recommended but I guess things happen when they happen. I have lost 120 pounds so far but am still about 65 pounds from goal. I am hoping some of you can reassure me that everything will be alright. I am worried that I either won't be able to eat enough to have a healthy pregnancy or that alternatively, I will eat too much and undo all the progress I have made. I am currently feeling really bloated and when I got on the scale this morning I was up about 2 pounds from last week! That really freaked me out because I definietly don't want to be gaining weight this early on. I'm hoping it's just Water weight from being bloated right now. Also I'm worried that since I am still 65 pounds overweight this will somehow have a negative effect on my pregnancy. I feel like I am walking a tightrope and am so confused! Anyone been in this position? Any words of advice?
  4. October 15 w/ Dr. Kane. I have 2 weeks of this liquid diet!!!
  5. OMG, I could have written this post!! I am also finishing my first day on liquid and just finished a bowl of chicken broth that tasted way more delicious than it should have! It HAS to get easier. What is your surgery date?
  6. I just got my date today! October 15th! Woo hoo!!
  7. I am also scheduled for October 15th! Can't wait but also really nervous!
  8. Thanks for all your replies. My appointment is schedule for 9/25. I hope it goes ok. I have no real symptoms but the doctor said the chances that you have it if your BMI is over 40 are pretty high. She also said a lot of people have sleep apnea and haven't noticed any symptoms. We'll see... If it helps me sleep better and feel better I'll be happy I guess.
  9. So I had my pulmonary clearance appointment yesterday and my lung function was normal, no problems. However, they did say that I had to get a sleep study just based on my BMI even though I have no real sleep problems. I am really dreading it because I hate sleeping away from home and I'm sure having a bunch of monitors attached to me and a video camera pointed at me won't help. Anyone had one? What can I expect? Also, for anyone who has sleep apnea, do you use a CPAP? Is it hard to get used to? Does it help you have more energy or lose weight?
  10. Congrats! I hope I'm not too far behind you!
  11. Just found out that my insurance has approved me for the sleeve! I just have to get pulmonary clearance before I can schedule a date. Of course I could not get an appointment with the lung center until September 9. It seems so far away but I am hoping the time will fly by. I can't believe it is really going to happen. This just got real. I'm nervous but I can't wait to start this journey. :-)
  12. Thank you for sharing, you look amazing! I am still pre-op with a LOT to lose so your story is really inspiring and motivating for me. I hope I have similar results. Keep up the hard work! It is definitely paying off!
  13. You look beautiful! Thanks for sharing! So inspiring!
  14. Wow! You look great! Thanks for sharing, very motivating!
  15. I am still preop but that is my biggest fear! I have failed so many times on so many diets, it is hard to think I will finally have success!
  16. That's good to know. Everything I have read about Kane Center has been positive. What is the preop diet like? How long do you have to do it? June 18 is right around the corner! Good luck!
  17. Wow! Thanks so much! I never heard of the single site sleeve but I will definitely ask! Maybe I will see if Dr. Rantis can see me earlier because I really want to get this process started. I have seen a couple people on here post about him and everyone seems to have liked him. Thanks again for the info!
  18. I have a consultation scheduled with Dr. Kane. The soonest he could see me was July 1. I'm nervous and anxious, but can't wait to get this process started. If you wouldn't mind keeping me posted on your experience I would love to hear how you like Dr. Kane and Alexian Bros. Good luck!
  19. Thank you! That was very helpful! A lot of stuff I didn't even think about!
  20. Hi everyone, I am new here. I am just starting out in the process and have my first consult with my surgeon on Wednesday. I am wondering if any of you have suggestions for questions I should ask or anything I should be prepared for? I am very nervous because I HATE doctors and hospitals. I have not even been to a doctor in a couple years, mainly because I dread having to get on that scale! I am sure I will have some unpleasant surprises since it has been a while since I had a checkup. I'm so worried. So any tips, advice or encouragement would be much appreciated!
