Gastric Sleeve Surgery - What My Doc Told Me to Expect
I went to my surgeon on Tues and was told that my surgery would take two hours. He would test for leaks while I am in surgery and that way I will not have to be tested the day after. I should be in my room, if one is available, an hour or so after I wake up in recovery room. My doctor has done tons of these surgeries and I am hoping everything goes well.

Anyone have Plans on September 24?
I have also plans for Sept 24. I am excited and scared at the same time. There are days that I ask my husband if I am making a mistake doing this and he tells me that I am not making a mistake and that he is very supportive of my decision.

New Surgery Date
I have managed to move up my surgery date. My original date was Oct 7. My new date is Sept 24. I am so excited about the fact that I will be sleeved sooner that I expected. I talked to the nurse at the office and asked if I had to go on a liquid diet two weeks ahead of time and was told no. I only have to do liquids the day before surgery. I go see the surgeon on Sept 10 to sign the consents and get the surgery pre-op labs as well as the surgery explained. I am happy to move the surgery date.

Bit of a rant: Pissed off - upset - depressed
You do not look old and you do not look like a little old man. People will say anything to make you feel bad about yourself. I think you look great. As long as you feel good about yourself that is all that matters. Your wife is your support system and her comments should be the only ones you care about. My husband is very supportive of me and I feel his comments are the only that matter to me.

Sleeve Today - Gone Tomorrow
I love your teddy bear. Maybe you should get one to hold onto when you have to cough after surgery.

Five Days In - I'm ready for changes...
I am trying different foods before my surgery so I know what to have on hand for each stage. I found that if you puree small curd cottage cheese and a small box of SF jello in a blender it is really good. I think the next time I make it, I will put a little bit of skim milk in it so it won't be as thick. But anyway it is still good.

Video
I just finished watching the video on You Tube of the VSG. I thought it was amazing. It showed the entire surgery. I could not have been more impressed. The doctor doing the surgery explained step by step what he was doing. I was amazed when the stomach that was cut away turned to a purple color due to lack of blood flow. I think that if you want to see what is going on during the surgery this is the perfect video. I am going to get my husband to watch the video with me when I get home from work. I was amazed.
