You are soooo right about the sports bra. I grew up on horses and was riding them before I could walk. I used to ride Bare back with no shoes, no bra,( back in the days I could get away with it.LOL those days are long gone) I used to ride in jimcannas when I was a kid. barrels and goat tie. I haven't been on a horse for a VERRRRY long time. My friends and I are going to go riding in Greer AZ next year when I am smaller. It is the most BEAUTIFUL place to ride. I LOVE HORSES!! I miss them something terrible. You're also right about the shower! Try ridding bare back. When you get off half of the horses hair and sweat is on your butt and legs. Good luck in your class! It must be lots of fun!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I was in pre-op for 1 hour, then surgery for 1 hour, then recovery for 1 hour. then to my room for overnight.

  5. Good luck and Welcome to Band Land!! ((((HUGS)))) and PRAYERS on a speedy recovery!
  6. $11,010.77 so far. That does not include the hospital bill. for some reason I have not received a bill from them yet. I have insurance (Medicare) so my cost was $1089.06. This includes all the pre test and Dr. visits also. ie, psychiatric eval, nutritionist and so on. My surgery was in Flagstaff, Arizona by Dr. Robert Berger
  7. Trish, You go girl!! I also packed a week before surgery. Then unpacked and repacked about 3 times. I never used one thing I packed once I got there. Wore hospital gown, they gave me a tooth brush, paste, comb, booties, and everything else I needed. But it doesn't hurt to be prepaired. Good luck to you and I will be praying for a speedy recovery!! (((((HUGS)))))
  8. Thank you!! I talked with everyone today and we are going to set upa meeting next week. I still am not sure what to say. Thank you for your replies.
  9. Ok all, I was wondering what you would do? I have a 3 yr. old boy in my preschool class who is VERY obese. His father will pick him up at lunch and take him to burger king because he wont eat what we serve.(healthy meals) Everyone in his family is very obese. I have to talk to parents all the time about their children, how they are doing with class work, behavior and all that fun stuff. But I have never had to talk to a parent about their overweight child. The children are already leaving him out of things and asking why his stomach sticks out so far. I can't believe this starts at age 3. He can't climb the outside equipment unless I or my aide is there to help lift his legs onto the steps. We have had many class discussions about how everyone is different and not to make fun of someone different from you. I feel I need to say something but how do I bring this up when I am obese myself? I was not a obese child. I did this to myself when I should have known better. I am concerned for this little boy. Any suggestions will be helpful.
  10. On my 18th Birthday I was still in bed at 10:00 a.m. 6 of my very close friends came over to wish me Happy Birthday. 4 girls and 2 guys. My mom let them come to my room to surprise me. Well you guessed it! I was laying there nakked as the day I was born with the covers off. (lived in the AZ desert then) They through open the door and yelled HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERRI!! I don't know who was more surprised, Them or me? One of the guys is Gay today so I wonder if I caused it? LOL! He is still one of my very best friends and we still laugh about it today. I wasn't that much overweight then! Oh the good ole days!!!!

  16. Congratulation, WOW your day is coming soon. I was on a liquid diet for 15 days before my surgery and thought I couldn't do it. But I did and never cheated once. I kept thinking that the Dr. would know and cancel my surgery. Everything went great! I even lost 11lbs before surgery!! My liquid diet was very strict. only 3 cups of milk a day, 2 cups of all natrual apple juice, 3 sf jellos, sf popsicles, 2 sf fudge bar. That was it! I could have all the popsicles I wanted during the day. It was suppose to be a 10 day diet but my surgery was postponed a few days. I made it and so will you. Just think of the new you!! I love my band and call it my new best friend!! Good luck!

  22. My bandages were removed the day I left the hospital. I only had the steri strips and My surgeon said to let them come off in my showers. I was super glued together no staples or stiches on the outside.
  23. New Life. Congratulation on being banded. Welcome to LBT and a BIG congratulations on the 6lbs! Doesn't it feel great? 1- Yes it will go away. Walk, Walk, and Walk...... 2-I use Vit E and My scars are very light just 4 months out. 3-I get mine at Wal mart. Centrum liquid. 24. Kimberly, If you go to www.room42.com and click on "basal metabolism calculator" on the bottom of page it will tell you what YOU need to lose weight. For me no less or more that 1200 calories to lose weight. no more than 40 grams of fat, 45 grams of portein and 165 grams of carbs. I will NOT eat that many carbs or fat grams though.
