  1. I am with you Lavender!!! My surgeon is over cautious and uses a cath, drains FOR 2 weeks!!!!!!! and we have to give ourselves shots for 2 weeks.. she also insists on liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op. PLEASE. I am insisting they remove the drains before I leave that hospital... everyone who has those nasty drains has incresed pain and infections!!!
  2. I haven't been sleeved yet so I am no expert. I do know about starvation mode though. Could your body have realized that and is hanging on for dear life for what is left? Could you get a little more protein in and a few more calories?
  3. rewind, I totally appreciate your post and your honesty!!! I am not sleeved yet so I learn about experience through others and this forum. You said you threw up a lot. WHat caused it? Was it you ate too much and it was painful so you had to make yourself throw up? (Happens a lot with banders) Was it you drank something gross like a bad liquid protein and it made you throw up? Was it just regular food but your tummy wasn't ready for it? I think the chew and spit it out, is a great idea. To get over that wanting to chew something feeling.
  4. I called the pharmacist. they will cost me $90. It is really weird to hear how many of the surgeons do things differently, such as some surgeons make you have the tubes sticking out of you . (Mine does YUCK) and some don't. Some make you take the shots, mine does. Some don't. SOme surgeons make you clear liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery (mine does YUCK) and some don't. Oy. Thanks everyone for your answers!!
  5. Did your surgeon write a prescription for shots for after surgery to prevent blood clots? Anyone know how much they are? I have to pay for 1/2 of all meds.
  6. chicken broth, sugar free jello, sugar free pops, LOTS of protein shakes, water, low sugar juice
  7. I don't know for sure to be honest. But, I have watched a bunch of those Fat to thin shows and the surgeries of skin removals. Many, many of them weighed the cut off skin (yuck!) and it was 20-40 pounds!!!! I know you can tell under the arms or thighs by pinching it and seeing how this it is. If it's skin on skin, obviously it's all skin. Not sure how to tell on the tummy.
  8. Katie, have you had your heart checked??? Do your legs feel like you worked out and they are all wiggley-feely?

  15. Charts say I should lose about 130 pounds. I lost weight before and felt GREAT weighing 175 pounds. So, if I go by that, I need to lose about 85-90 pounds. 100 would be awesome but I will be very happy with 80-100.
  16. it feels like things are going in slow motion, doesn't it?
  17. What is the deal with the caffeine? I'm not a coffee drinker but I drink organic green tea (plain) until the afternoon and then switch to organic peppermint tea for the rest of the day. Does the caffeine restrict blood vessels? Does it slow weight loss? Does it slow healing? THANK YOU so much for such a helpful post!!!!!!!!
  18. My son is 18, he is high functioning (verbal/social) but is not able to read/write. So he too, will be with us as long as possible. You know, he can't read but can tell you everything about every Pokemon, Star Wars character or super-hero EVER! hahahahaha He's awesome. Hope more peeps see this group and start yapping!! We all have a special understanding that parents of "typical" kids will never understand.
  19. Hiya everyone!!! I am scheduled for June 12, 2013. I am a former Lap-Bander . I had the lap-band done in 2005 and did very well with it (got my weight to around 1175-185 lbs. which for me, was awesome) I was rear-ended by a texting driver and my spine, nerves, neck and everything got all banged up, including the lap-band. I had 9 injections of steroids put into my spine to try to take some of the pain away and was put on meds (I'm a naturalist so I don't exactly dig that) and the WEIGHT FLEW UP!!! I weigh more now than before the band. I do best with eating leafy/greens and meats & seafood. I need portion control. I am excited to soon get full on small portions. That does NOT happen for me now. I could probably eat a whole horse if I allowed myself. I am looking forward to supporting each other!!!
  20. Or May, July, etc... I am looking to link up with each other for support... I am nervous and excited at the same time!!! I am set for June 12.
