  1. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt - if he was fine before, then maybe the closer it gets to your surgery date, he's probably getting scared for you. It's hard to watch someone undergo this, he may just feel helpless. He may be scared you'll change and not want him any more... But you've come the right place to find people on your side If this really matters to you, don't get down about the lack of support, use it to fire you up. You have decided to do this for you and you can do it with or without anyone else's support. Only you can make the surgery a success, not your husband, mum or sister. But they can distract you, weaken your focus. Don't let anyone do that to you now that you have come this far. You deserve better. Keep posting here, you will get support and strength from the community on here. Hang in there, don't give up - or give in!
  2. Lol, Revs, I should have made it clearer that normal was referring to my BMI only And I am blushing now at those kind words....takes one to know one. Naked Hottie has been in touch so all is well with the world :-))))) xx
  3. Ha ha ha ha!!!! So should I ditch them? Is that where I am going wrong? ))
  4. McB, I will be wearing slightly less that this if there's a second meeting with the Hottie, lol!!!!
  5. McButterpants, you are so kind! You are right, I am a success story, aren't I ???? Never thought of it like that :-)))))))
  6. Oh you will! It's there to be done, not easy but worth trying :-)))))
  7. I lost 85.5lbs to go from morbidly obese to normal. Can't quite believe it....
  8. Well, 9 month check today and my dietician declared me to be no longer overweight - I am now officially NORMAL! Hooray! I started as morbidly obese (at a BMI of 41, too much for a 5'2" tiddler), then I was obese, then overweight - and finally normal... Such a small word, what a big impact :-)))))))
  9. Sadly, yes. Am 52 and my skin is getting looser even now that my weight loss has slowed down. Was going to have breast reduction but now considering lower body lift. No amount of exercise is gong to make it spring back, lol!
  10. Chris, looking good! Well done, great attitude and you are a third of the way to goal already :-)))))
  11. Jean Exactly - and I love that phrase, will be sure to use it over my side of the pond!
  12. Your new life will amaze you :-) Attitude is important and I think you have the right attitude to be successful. My nut said I was a compliant patient - I followed the plan to the letter - that worked for me and helped me change my habits in a way I didn't anticipate. I now have a lifestyle that suits me, one that I can live with and work with. Good luck tomorrow, keep posting so we know how you are doing.
  13. Ok, deep breath, lol! You sound pretty organised so that's a good start. I hate being sick, that was my fear. But I haven't been sick once in the 9 months since my surgery. Stick to what you're asked to do when you are asked to do it and you won't go far wrong. Pain is pretty manageable too... First priority post op - sipping Water, morning noon and night. Then getting your Protein in, although that is less important in the first week or so. Your stomach will be numb and swollen so don't force anything down. If you have to take anti-acid meds, take them - acid in your new stomach can mimic hunger. Finally, keep moving. It helps with any gas issues and it also helps with constipation.... What comes next is different from any other diet experience you may have had (like you, I had tried every diet....) - but the results are also unlike anything else I have tried. Hopefully, you've done your last diet, the new normal is fantastic! I wish you well!!!!
  14. I had four weeks off. Felt well after 2 weeks but I would have been tired if I had gone back before then. The extra two weeks let me get to grips with the purée stage and really feeling like myself again...
  15. It was literally eating cauliflower as the basis for lunch, dinner and Snacks raw. It's low carb, high in Vitamins (if you don't boil it to death) but the worlds most boring diet... How many variations of cauliflower can you think of??? But it wasn't a proper balanced diet... Didn't last long, the flatulence was foul, ha ha ha !!!!!
  16. I don't think I can top the pregnant women's urine, speed and 500 cal diet, lol! But have done the cauliflower diet (never again, thank goodness, it played havoc with my insides) - so glad I won't have to do any of this ever again.....
  17. Very thought provoking article. While I understand some of the comments about singles/ people in bad relationships etc, as one of those people whose life has been horrendous in recent years (I am currently getting divorced after a bad ending to a long marriage), I want to read stuff like this. It is one person's opinion, that I can take or leave. I take ownership for all of my actions - even the ones that may put me in a bad light. All that I take from this kind of article is that if and when I do find a healthy new relationship, this may put my relationship with food in a new perspective. I am not taking it as a slight to me or that it is making me less of a person because it doesn't currently apply to me. Nor does it make me want to rush out and have an inappropriate or risky relationship But maybe that's just me, everyone is different. But please don't stop posting articles like this just because it doesn't apply to everyone.... articles can't be written with everyone in mind every time. I hope it will apply to me in future.... For now, lets not beat the article to death with caveats about "irresponsible sex can lead to pregnancy"etc. We are all grownups, reading this article isn't going to make me rush off and act out of character...
  18. Ps Suko67, you look AMAZING! I am 9 months out on Thursday - no regrets at all...
  19. It's early days and I found the first couple of weeks were the worst. It will get easier drinking, your stomach is numb, raw and swollen and I promise it will ease off as it settles down. Persevere with getting water in, Protein second - and try to keep moving. Congratulations on the surgery, hope it goes well for you :-)
  20. MississippiQueen, rant away! As I have lost weight, my confidence has come back and I have new expectations of anyone who comes in to my life - including my ex! You do whatever you think is best for you... Good luck!
  21. Thanks, was curious if you found other benefits to super hydration like better skin quality etc. Agree re diet, especially in the early days. Whilst I have had to work hard to keep on top of avoiding constipation, I'm glad I never got hit with diarrhoea or vomiting!
  22. You would think staying well hydrated would solve it, but it doesn't. I'm an RN, so I give myself IV hydration every week on top of my oral fluids to make sure I'm super duper hydrated and I'm still constipated. I know some people have the opposite problem. I think it's an adjustment period also. Either way I make sure I stay well hydrated orally and intravenously. Hear what you are saying but, as an RN, you will know that, without resorting to medical intervention or drugs as the cure, the prescribed advice for avoiding constipation is increasing fluid intake, and fibre, combined with exercise.. Not saying water is the cure - but being hydrated is a good start for most folks. . If you super hydrate and it's not in relation to constipation, are there others benefits you get from doing the I'V?
  23. Girls, one of the causes of constipation is not taking in enough water. So make sure you keep that up, it really will help...
  24. Oh no, you're not, been there, done that and got the t-shirt! When we start to lose weight, we shake up how people see us - and where they think we fit in their life. You might have always been the fat friend - so what are you when you're no longer playing that role? I have one friend who, when she saw me after a couple of months, said "I have 19lbs to lose" - and that was before she said hello. It's been a bit awkward because she obviously felt better about herself when she wasn't the fattest of us. Don't let anyone throw you off course as you lose weight. The problem is theirs but how we respond to them is our choice. Good luck!
