Back to bad habits ! HELP
You need to get RID of ALL the BAD CARBS, foods, Snacks from your cabinets... NOW! Go RIGHT NOW and THROW them AWAY!!! Because if they are there, you already know that you'll eat them. Many of us on here are carb addicts or recovering carb addicts. To this day I battle my addiction and that's why you will not find ANY in my house. Because I know that I will submit to my addiction in a moment of weakness. Part of this journey is recovering from our addictions and bad habits, as well as adapting new ones; which include: eating right and exercising, or becoming more active. Eating right...the sleeve gives you portion control, but YOU control the QUALITY...you know what to do. Exercising...look at it like a job; we need to work to make a living/we need to exercise to extend our lively hoods and our health. You CAN do this!!!!

Im Now Sleeved
For the left over air or gas (used to inflate the area where surgery is performed) that remains in your stomach post surgery. The heat eases the discomfort. It usually travels around to your back and up to your left shoulder (not a scientific fact, just my experience and a lot of people on this have stated the same thing) before it dissipates.

Bad day!
Yes!!! I crave sweets and I'm in a "I-just-want-to-eat-something-but-don't-know-what" kind of mood! I hate it and I keep ALL BAD foods out of my house, because I have very little control during that time. To the original poster, if you are committed to the life change (i.e. eating clean & exercising regularly), I see nothing wrong with a sprinkle of indulgence here and there. I eat clean 90-95% of the time and don't beat myself up over the 5-10% of "bad" foods. When I indulge, they're in very small quantities and they're planned into my daily calorie count. I do it guilt free. Just remember: if you ever fall off the bandwagon, you can ALWAYS pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again. Enjoy your new sleeve life and the new you that emerges with it!

ONEDERLAND!
Welcome to onderland @@michelle_e2006! It's a wonderful place to be and I'm so proud of you making it there so quickly ! Let the easy way out comment roll over your shoulders. Just remember that the sleeve might help us with QUANTITY, but we have to choose the QUAlITY of food we consume and the ACTIVE lifestyle we are suppose to adopt post WLS. When I get those comments thrown at me, I always say, "The sleeve didn't eliminate the bad foods. I did. The sleeve doesn't wake me up at 4:45 in the morning to run, do crossfit or bleachers. I do. The sleeve doesn't hit the weights. I do." So keep your chin up and work that sleeve and your body, girl! Onederland only gets better from here

Tiny tummy
Ha! My summer is finally over and we do a bunch of workshops and professional development before we get back into the classrooms, so I've been eating out a lot with my co-workers. At first I would get strange looks because I wouldn't order anything to drink. Then, the waitress would ask if I was unhappy with my meal because I only took a few bites, and she would be more than happy to replace with something else. I ended up doing the same thing by the end of the week, but with the edition of a veggie.

Feeling Awful
I had the hiatal hernia repair at the same time too. I think the excess swelling just makes it harder because I too struggled tremendously. Only thing I could get down was sugar free Popsicles. I lived on them because even Water and Protein shakes were a no-no. Finally, as the swelling began to subside I could get more things in (about 2 1/2 weeks out): Jello, Greek yogurt, a couple of spoonfuls of cream of chicken (strained). About a month out I discovered the RTD (ready to drink) Premier Protein chocolate Shakes. They weren't chalky and they didn't initiate my gag reflex. I really hope you feel better sooner rather than later. I'm sorry you're going through this, but it will pass! I wish you the best of success. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Before you know it, your slow walk will become a run!

FINALLY GOT A DOS!
Congrats and good luck!

Im Now Sleeved
I too was one that was extra sensitive and felt a lot of pain. It will pass, it will get better. I called my first week post-op "hell week", but I took my pain meds and I used my heating pads, and I walked, walked, walked as much as I could. It wasn't fun, but I got through it and so will you. That brief moment in time and the results that followed were so worth it! Take it one day at a time @@olsonjb, concentrate on keeping yourself hydrated (I lived on frozen sugar free Popsicles...only thing I could really tolerate), and remember that it's only going to get better. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better sooner rather than later!

Restriction back with a vengence
How weird. I wonder what causes that? I have experienced similar times where I can eat no problem one day, and then the next I can hardly get anything in :/

SAGGY ASS
Lol!!!! I literally laughed our loud! It's okay to stand up for yourself, which is what you did. Don't look at it as stooping to his level; rather, look at it as giving him a piece of his own medicine!

exercise time of day
I live in south Texas, so 5:30 am workouts work for me--aside from the fact that the fasting that occurs while I sleep prior to that helps me target and burn the fat faster. Once the sun emerges in this July/August heat, it's just too hot! I weight train about 40 minutes to an hour post cardio. I know that's not ideal, since a lot of the oxygen had been depleted from my muscles, but it has worked for me. Now that summer is coming to an end and I have to get back into the classroom, I know I'm going to struggle with my weight training due to the fact I will not have time in the morning before work to get it in. When school starts I have to wake up at 4 to get in my cardio (I take 15-20 minutes to get up and changed and an hour to complete cardio) and I'm not going to get up earlier to get my weight training done; and by the time I get home and deal with kids, homework, dinner and everything in between, I'm exhausted. Typically, I do 4 days of weight training, breaking up my body parts into those 4 days. I wonder what effect 2day weight training sessions (on the weekends) will have on my physique. Anybody only lift 2 days out of the week? Does that work for you? Love the muscle gains I've made over the summer and I don't want to lose them!

Not getting enough protein, calories, or liquid
Yes, I agree with the others! You have a lot of swelling in your tummy and you have a lot of healing to do. For now, just sip, sip, sip all day. Frozen sugar free Popsicles were my life line at your stage! As your tummy heals and you get further along, it will get better and you will be able to hit your goals! Just give it time and have patience.

What is your most recent NSV?......Go!
One of the new teachers in my department and I were getting to know each other over lunch. I told her I had 4 kids and she said, "What! You're so tiny! You do not have 4 kids!" She called me tiny. Wow.

What are you most proud of since wls? Or what are you striving for? Most memorable moment?
1. Playing PHYSICALLY for HOURS with my kids without being breathless 2. Being able to walk for some distance without being breathless 3. Being able to tie my shoes without being breathless 4. Not having to shop at Lane Bryant (loved that store, but I had no problems saying, "bye-bye." 5. Buying my first single digit size, size 8 (I cried and cried in the dressing room) 6. Kicking my husbands but at working out! He couldn't keep up (he's very fit) and he could only do half of my workout! And seeing the muscles in my legs from all the hard work I put into working out. 7. When my 2 & 4 year old girls did not know who the "chubby lady" is in the picture was (sad/happy moment because I will never allow myself to get that way again) 8. Being called skinny 9. Having confidence and feeling beautiful for the first time in over a decade 10. The day I didn't recognize my own reflection in a shop window and finally accepting the fact that I'm no longer fat. Thanks for this. Love the stories. Love my sleeve.

Gas pains
I don't remember any burning, other than at the incision site. As far as the gas, heating pads worked miracles for me. Some people swear by those gas x strips. Hope you feel better sooner, rather than later. Remember, all this discomfort WILL pass! Good luck.

Bikini Pic!
You can't tell from the picture, but I do have an overhang of skin. Maybe I've developed the muscles underneath enough to where I just need the skin removal and not the stapling of the muscles.

Depressed and Scared...will this work?
Agree with LipstickLady. I'm very active and I need energy. That requires fueling my body with the right types of carbs. Carbs--good carbs--are essential to sustain energy and I need a good amount of them for my high intensity workouts that run for long durations of time.
