Life Insurance and Affairs in Order
So, I am in the process of getting my life insurance in order and all of my paper work and DNR stuff ready. I am not trying to be negative, but I have 5 children and 2 grandchildren to think about. I think it is the organizer in me that wants to cover all the bases and make sure that my family does not have to deal with anything if something does go wrong. Is there any other feeling the same way that I do?

You don't weigh enough for that....So sick of hearing this!
I was talking to someone the other day and mentioned that I was going to have surgery. She looked at me and said " Seriously? You do not look heavy enough." I pointed out that my current weight is 250. She was in shock. Could not believe that I weighed that much. I am 5'9 so people do not see the weight. I however, feel it, in my knees, and hip, and foot. My BMI was 41 when I was 278lbs. I have lost down to 250 on weight watchers but have been stalled for 2 months. Glad I am getting the surgery. They just dont understand that it is not all about being super heavy, its about a lot of factors. Let the ignorant be ignorant. We know why! Right?

sleeved may 6th..this is tough!
Wow, such great inspiration. I am not due to be sleeved until July 5, and like so many of you have anxiety and fear. I have also read everything I can get my hands on. I have watched the YouTube videos of the surgery and of those that have had the surgery. However, after reading your posts I am even more nervous about this. Food has never really controlled my life, I just have a portion control problem. Im a little nervous about the after effects that I will have to face. It is even harder as I am on my own with no significant other. My children are my support system and they have been very supportive. Good luck to you all, and may we all be on the loosing team.

3 weeks out eating about 1200 cal/day
I wouldn't worry so much about the amount of calories, its the portions of food. As long as you are not making yourself sick, and or eating the wrong foods, then feed your body. It will tell you if it cant handle it. If you are as active as you say you are and are willing to loose it slower, then you should be fine. I would check with my doc just to make sure he/she has no problems with it.

Surgery Date
Yes, it feels good and scary all at once. My father asked me today when I told him, "Tam, are you sure you want to do this? What if you get stomach cancer or something and they have to take out the rest of it?." I was silent for a moment, and then replied with "I will cross that bridge, if and when I come to it. For now I am doing what is good for me and my life, and this is it." I 100% believe that I am making the correct decision and yes, it wont be easy, but who ever said life is suppose to be easy? Also, what part of fat life has been easy. Pain, big clothes, tight movie seats... Thank you all for your support.

Odd question about removing the drainage tube
- Drain Tube?
Thanks everyone. I had a tube for a month when I had a sick Gallbladder Bach in 2010. Hated it and just freaked when I started hearing it in these threads. Hopefully I won't get one. Have done all my tests and have been approved and meet with my surgeon on June 7 to get my date.- Drain Tube?
So I was reading the other day and several people were commenting on a drain tube that they had to have after surgery. What is this about? I was never told of anything like this. Could someone please clarify for me? I would appreciate it.- Odd question about removing the drainage tube
So let me get this straight. We have to have a drainage tube put in during the surgery? How long do we have to wear it? No one has said a word about this. I had a tube in my gallbladder for a month in 2010 and hated it. Why do they not tell you this?- Three months today!
Congratulations! That is fantastic.- Gastric Sleeve Approval
Thank you very much for the welcome. I forgot to put in my post that I have already done all my blood work, upper GI, X-rays, and already had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago.- Gastric Sleeve Approval
Hello, I wanted to introduce myself to all of the other sleever's. I am approved, waiting to meet one on one with the surgeon and then anesthesiologist and get my surgery date in June. I have been on this possible track for 20 years. I gave wls a thought in my mid twenties but it was so new and I was very scared. After years and years of yo-yo dieting and hitting my top weight of 278lbs, I finally decided to move forward. I will be having my procedure done by Dr. Brian Smith from UCI Bariatric Clinic. I am a veteran so the VA is paying for my surgery. Yeah me. I had to go through a diet class for eight weeks. Then had to loose 5% of my body fat to move forward in the program. I joined weight watchers the day after Christmas and have lost 20 lbs to date. Im getting excited but at the same time a little apprehensive about the procedure. I know it is the best decision for my life. I have not dated in two years and want to get back to a normal life that I can share with someone. Im not happy nor comfortable with my body at this time and know that with this surgery I will get control back.- pre-op diet
I dont start my diet until the end of May but my doctor is putting me on 5 shakes per day plus 3 servings of fruits and all the vegetables I want to eat. The 5 shakes are Pure whey from Target. 2 scoops each time. Im nervous about starting that but have started working up to it. I am doing 2 shakes per day now along with regular food and working up each week until I get to the no meet weeks. Hopefully that will help.- 11 Months Post OP and Down 116 Pounds.
You look so beautiful and happy. Congratulations on a job well done. - Drain Tube?
