Protein Shake Sickness
I switched from whey to hemp and pea Protein, helped a lot. Nutiva and Amazing Meal or Amazing Grass. I also drink plain old milk. Higher carbs than I would like, but I can get it down easily. Drink it hot or cold.

Spicy foods?
6 months out I have no trouble with spicy, and I live in New Mexico, so you know I mean spicy I added it back in after 8 weeks maybe. I do have trouble with things that have cinnamon oil or super sour stuff, which is a bummer. Hope that changes over time. I imagine that with all the PPI's and acid reducers sleevers are on in the beginning, spicy won't bother many.

Is there anything more depressing...
Revs, I totally agree.

15 grams of carbs/500 or fewer calories a day until I lose 100 pounds?
Just to give you a different perspective, at 7 weeks I was eating less than 500 calories a day. Didn't really get to 800 a day regularly until 3-4 months out. I didn't have a problem with it at all and could not have eaten more. Even now I stick with 800-900 a day without being at all hungry and I exercised from the beginning. I don't doubt that your nut's program works, but i wouldn't want to follow it personally. If I were in your shoes i think I might look to switch nuts if at all possible. I get a lot of my Protein from dairy, which has carbs. I eat 40-50 g of carbs a day even with avoiding Pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, etc. because vegetables, Beans and dairy have carbs. I also take optifiber and use hemp protein, chia seeds, etc. Also, the well meaning folks who insist that you have to have 1000-1200 calories a day are not correct. Many of us, such as myself, have slow metabolisms and don't lose with that many calories. I simply maintain at 1200. Wish I was one of you fast BMR folks! Remember, everyone is different and there is no one size fits all for this stuff, only general guidelines. That's why I like reading everyone's different methods. There are some gems to be found now and then, as well as info to avoid (for me at least - might be great for someone else). Good luck with this.

What do you do when you can't turn to food anymore?
Can you go see a movie? That's a good one for me. At home I even have my go-to collection when i'm upset: Mama Mia Independence Day Pride and Prejudice Hope you feel better soon!

Popcorn?
IMHO I would not recommend it for sleeves until 4 months, but check with your doctor, they might have a different opinion. It's also a slider food - easy to eat waaaay too much :-o gobble gobble gobble
- I like pie

need a drink
I usually go for an ounce of Jack Daniels with Water over ice. Lasts me almost an hour these days. It's only 60 calories and no carbs. If I do shots it hits me hard, so I don't do those now. My other go-to drink is a glass of red wine. That will last an hour, too. Has more calories and carbs, though. I used to drink beer, loved a good craft beer. Can't do it now, the carbonation makes me nauseous.

lean meals
Honestly, the first 4-6 months I don't think you can eat enough to make a frozen diet meal worth eating, but I suppose you could get 3 meals out of it. IMHO I don't recommend it because for the first 3-4 months all you are going to get down is Protein, and maybe a bit of veg. You also aren't even going to be able to eat firm protein for half that time. Kind of a waste of a frozen meal. As time goes on you could keep some around for emergencies, but I don't think they are a great choice. I also don't care for them, not "real" food for the most part, unless you buy Amy's or other specialty brands. I don't like to spend a lot of time, either. I think there is another thread from several days ago with suggestions for quick foods.

you are eating too few calories.
Yep, Protein first and lots of it. I do think that applies to everyone. That is one thing WLS folks can agree on. Percentage of fats in your diet is open to debate. Lots of different opinions on that. I used to limit fats to 30% of my diet, but I don't now. But I also don't chow down on pork rinds, either and I keep total calories to 800/day. Best advice is to follow what your nutritionist and doctor subscribe to. If you don't have that benefit, like our OP here, then try different plans to see what works for you. Weight loss nutrition is a very gray area! Everyone has an opinion LOL. I'm not a nutritionist, I just share what works for me. Here are some interesting articles if you want to read up on high fat/low carb eating. I think it is a very interesting field of study. OH SH!T!
It's normal. Don't freak. dear. Try to weigh only once a week or less. Much better on your nerves

you are eating too few calories.
- you are eating too few calories.
Yes, I have raised my fat intake considerably from the 30 grams I followed originally. New research shows that higher fat (half your calories from fat) provides more satiety (important as you progress down your sleeve road and hunger starts to come back). Higher fat has a lot of positive health benefits, just google high fat/low carb eating. Higher fat diets to not necessarily give you heart disease or high cholesterol. The old "eating fat makes you fat" is not really true. I see that you are newly sleeved. After you have been doing this a while you will likely find that you want/need to change it up, and that's fine. Your body will change so it makes sense to alter your diet to suit. The key thing is keeping Protein levels good. I take teh majority of my fats in the form of nuts, nut butters, seeds, chia, cheese, 2% milk and yogurt, olives, and a variety of oils. I don't eat a lot of dairy butter, but I don't avoid it, either. I have it maybe once or twice a week. I might eat bacon on occasion, too. Some people go to 5:2, some people follow Atkins/low carb. Not too many people still do the old low fat/high carb diet, but some do. Different strokes for different folks.- you are eating too few calories.
You also might have been in a stall. Good luck and let us know how it works for you. You started with similar stats to mine. When you start with a relatively lower BMI like us (under 40), we don't often lose fast like the higher BMI folks. But it does eventually come off. Also, the closer you are to goal the slower it goes and you aren't far from goal at all. You have lost 50 lbs in 3 months, so you must be doing something right.- you are eating too few calories.
If you want another list to compare to, here's mine. Just a tad different from Rev's. I log everything, good and bad. Keeps me honest. 3 meals a day and 2 Snacks (morning and afternoon). Roughly 800 calories a day (I'm 53 and don't have a fast metabolism, so I don't lose at 1000 or 1200 calories a day). I shoot for around 200 calories per meal and 100 calories per snack. If I eat light at one meal I might make it up at the next. I do have the occasional glass of wine (bad bad!) 60-70g Protein (this was 80g when I started, but I've lost enough now that my protein needs are lower) 50g carbs (I try for less but it just doesn't happen LOL) 35-40g fats 64 oz Water Vitamins: B12 injection monthly Multivitamin chewable daily Calcium citrate/vitamin D chewables 500 mg daily Iron (don't take it within 2 hrs of any calcium)- quick and easy foods
I'm thinking it was Tyson grilled chicken breasts. They have them in both the fridge and freezer sections at the store...- I'm waiting for Seela...
Seela, that is so awesome! Congrats! It's the little things like that.... they really make your day..- I got mad at my sleeve tonight :-(
Yeah, I had a pizza moment, too. I love good pizza. Just can't do more than a half slice eaten verrry slowwwly anymore, which is great (although my bad self is still ticked off about it).- my butt bone HURTS! (tailbone pain post weight loss)
Me too. Size 10 and the butt bones are starting to hurt. When I was a size 8 10 yrs ago I didn't have it, so I think it is loss of muscle, although I never had much junk in the trunk to start with. More exercise that focuses on glutes would be the ticket, I suspect.- How much did you lose the first 3-4 months? I want to be out of the 200+ Club by summer.
Don't compare yourself to others! It is a recipe for disaster. Just do your best, it will come off. I'm down to losing a pound a week UGH! At my best I only lost 2 lbs. a week. Comparisons will only make you dissatisfied with your progress (spoken by one green with envy when I read about people who lose 3-4-5 lbs. a week). Look at your last month's average loss and try using that to project your summer goal weight.- quick and easy foods
Pre-cooked/grilled chicken strips are easy to add to anything. I usually have pre-cut fresh vegetables around, easier to just throw in a dish. Stir-frys are very easy - toss in the cut up vegs and meat or tofu with some vegetable oil. After cooking on high heat add some soy sauce (stay away from sugary teriyaki sauces). I have canned Beans on hand - easy to make chili or Indian chana (chickpea dish) Lentils cook relatively quickly - throw a bag in a pot with 8 cups of Water, carrot, celery and bay leaf. Good for crockpots, too. Ham steaks cook up fast, just pan fry or broil with thyme sprinkled on top. Add some microwaved broccoli or green beans on the side. Spaghetti squash (just nuke it then scoop it out with a fork), add Pasta sauce (lower carb/lower calorie brand - read the labels - some are very high!) Add some precooked turkey meatballs (in your freezer section) and parmesan cheese. Fast and very tasty. Personally, I mostly stay away from cream soups when trying to lose weight (except when I was doing liquids). Lots of calories and not much nutrition. Just my opinion.- Eating makes me miserable.
Yep, it gets better. It really sucks the first few months. The further out you are, the easier it is to eat, which is good and bad news- Sushi/sashimi/handrolls.
When you get a little further down the road, you can buy dried edamame (Crunchamame) which is a great snack. High protein and salty/crunchy but not bad on the sleeve.- Anger & Emotional Baggage
Sending hugs. WLS can open doors that we've been banging on for years. It can make us happier if health and normal size are the things we needed. What won't it solve? Self hatred and lack of self respect, unhealthy relationships, addictions, ignorance, prejudice, and true mental illness. Therapy isn't a bad thing. Give it a try and see if it helps. Only you can say if it is what you need. Shedding the weight may be all you need. - you are eating too few calories.
