If you go up to the "Thread Tools" on the toolbar you can choose "Subscribe to this Thread" and you have an option of getting emails when there's a new post. Also, after that, you can go to "Quick Links" up above and scroll down to Subscribed Threads & click on that & you should get a list of the threads you have subscribed to. Hope that helps. I have some family members who are nurses in Buffalo. I'll ask if anyone knows of Dr. Posner.

My experience with MY doctor's office???? You HAVE to be a pest!! A lot of these bariatric offices are VERY busy... you have to be your own advocate! Yes, there SHOULD be better communication... but there isn't, so you will have to be more aggressive!

Is the new Super Target open yet?? Had a busy day. Youngest DD here with the three little ones.. SIL is back in Sacramento... his dad is terminally ill w/Leukemia. Got him out of the hosp today and settled at his sisters... "nanny cam", nursing help, etc. So kids were crazy... took them to our playground, walked over to Albertson's & got my latte, played on the Wii with them... 5 yr old is very good at bowling. Then we went to other DD's for dinner. She fixed steak, but too chewy for me. DH had picked up rotisserie chicken... it was too greasy. SO I ate a hot dog, no bun! Little bit of angel hair, broccoli, and a small piece of fresh out of the oven blackberry pie. Didn't total, but probably not a great total for today!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Ah.... Sorry... it's kind of a "cheater" because it came in a twin pack.. I think from costco... vacuum packed with teriyaki seasoning/marinade already in the pack. So you just have to throw it in the oven or on the grill... looks very much like a pork loin roast. Cooked pretty fast in the oven and was nice and moist. Would've been really good on the grill, too. Then I made a package of chicken gravy and put it in the pan to pick up the teriyaki seasoning. i put the gravy on top of the "mock mashed potatoes" I made by steaming some cauliflower and garlic cloves together and mashing them up with a little sour cream. Yummy! If you can find a turkey roast of some kind, I'm sure you could recreate something similar by putting it in a zip lock bag with some teriyaki seasoning and marinade for a few hours.

I think your picture turned out a little better than mine. My camera had started acting up and by the time I got home I decided I needed a new one. Sure was a fun weekend! Yeah, I love looking at all those pictures. All my train trip pictures play on my laptop as screen saver when I"m not using it and I really enjoy watching them!

Yeah, and I figured out that there are other styles of pants in that Target brand that are cropped and cut to sit below the waist.... perfect fit for me. So I'll be thinking about getting some other pants soon. And I need a belt for these 24s now that they're all loosened up! I probably haven't worn a belt since I was about 12 yrs old!! Anytime I ever bought anything that came with a belt I'd throw it away! Now I need to find one I can wear with my new jeans!! Hope your day is GREAT!! And congrats on the weight loss! Well, we went out to lunch, but to the stir fry place across the street. Remember the lady who was so unreasonable last summer and wouldn't let me buy a children's portion or take my leftovers home??? Well, she was also very unfriendly and the atmosphere was not pleasant. So, guess what??? Her restaurant is now under new management!! I talked to the new guy before they reopened and he's made some significant changes. It's no longer "all you can eat", so he doesn't care if I take my leftovers home, he lowered the prices by a dollar, and the atmosphere is way different. In fact, I went back after lunch and told them that the best change they made was the smiles and the friendly atmosphere! Anyway, I had healthy veggies, lean meat, imit. crab and a small amt of rice. So.... out to lunch, but we ate pretty healthy.

That's my new focus.... summer is OVER.... no more trips, vacations, etc. Time to get serious again. My weight was down on Monday... then I've gained .2 lb Tues, Wed., Thurs. Too much wine yesterday... I already confessed that. Gotta watch my snacks, too. I snacked on veggie crackers last night... 120 calories for 14, but I only had about 7, and a couple of TBSP of Tostios onion dip. But I had a few pretzel sticks in the afternoon with my wine and with some dip that I made... Knorr Spinach Soup mix, FF Sour cream and some other stuff I threw in... little bit of FF miracle whip, little bit of Raspberry Wasaba hot mustard. Shouldn't have been that many calories, but don't usually snack TWICE in a day. And those papaya tablets... I need them sometimes, but other times I just WANT them because they are sweet! Can't eat them like M & Ms!! Okay... that's my TRUE CONFESSIONS for today. Gotta go get in the shower and take our lake walk/ride. Not much exercise for me, but I enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and it gets me outside and out of my recliner. And I have to do some RV packing today! LATER, gang!

Was back at Target today and decided to look at their 75% off rack again. I REALLY like how these jeans are fitting. Pant & crotch length are just right for me!! As I said, I bought a size 24... wearing now, 22 for later, and today I took the last pair they had on the rack, a size 20. As I've worn these the last two days, you know how they stretch out, I've decided that I will be ready for the 22s sooner than I thought, so now I have the next two smaller sizes waiting in the wings! Quite a dilemma.. to keep going to this group or forget it!! THIS is my support group, but I have to say that Steph makes some very good points, too!! They have nothing to offer you, but maybe you have some major contributions to make to THEM!! I feel I've been very bad this afternoon. Kept my food choices in check and then had too much wine. I got in a BAD MOOD about something... I don't even remember what. Got mad at DH about something at Costco... he didn't want to go in and I did.. I don't even remember it all, but I got in a snit! Then I went for a long scooter ride. He went to the motor home while I was gone to do some more "packing" for the winter trip. So when I got home & he wasn't here, I poured myself a small glass of wine. Then I filled it up. Then I filled it up again! Then he came home and gave me another half glass! Very small glass, mind you, but too much!! Really stupid! Back to the TVs....Consumer Reports is very complimentary towards the Vizios... rates several as "Best Buys". Here's a small excerpt from their site. Both the Sony KDL-40V4100 and Vizio VO42L FHTVA10A are 40-inch sets with excellent HD picture quality and very good performance with DVDs. The Sony did better with SD programs, while the Vizio had a better-than-average viewing angle and costs $500 less.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Very interested to hear what your PCP had to say about his rash. Sounds very similar to one I've had problems with about 3 times in the last 10 years. Starts out itchy, under breasts, as you say, etc., then as it progresses it gets very painful to where it is agony to wear a bra. Last time was a couple of years ago. dermatologist ordered stuff that seemed to make it worse. This went on for weeks before it was resolved each time. It was HORRIBLE and I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! Hope you get some answers and Rx for something that will work!! I don't know what it is... not cravings for me, but just sort of in a "BAD MOOD"!! So I had too many glasses of wine today!! I use a very small wine glass... like the size they give you when you go to a wine tasting. But.... I think I filled it up three times, which is WAY too much wine. And, guess what... I'm STILL in a bad mood, so it didn't help but did add a lot of calories!! Will have to really limit what I eat the rest of the day to compensate!! Stupid!! Fixing a turkey teriyaki roast for dinner. That should be fairly low in calories, and steamed some cauliflower, zucchinni and yellow squash to go with it.

I don't know if you can bargain with Medicare or appeal, but I think I sure would try! You have to go to the page where you edit your profile. It's complicated and I always get frustrated every time I want to change my picture. But just stick with it. I've found the easiest way is to first get an account with "Photobucket.com". Upload your photos there. You'll have to resize it down to avatar size... I think there's a pre-set size that says avatar. Once you've done that, some little boxes pop up with various "codes" in it for your photo. Copy the one that says "direct" something or other. THen go to your edit profile page and .... I think it says upload profile picture or something like that. When you click on that a box will pop up asking you for the "url" address of your photo and that's where you paste in the code. Then, find where it says "change avatar" and if it worked.... your little picture will be at the very end of all the other little cutsie avatars. Then you pick that and "save". If your experience is similar to mine, by the time it works you'll be spitting bullets!:biggrin::cool2: I know there's a tutorial with great instrusctions and photos for setting up your ticker, but none that i know of for the photo stuff. Hope it works for you!!

Yeah.... grandkids are the greatest!! We'll be heading south soon, so we'll be really missing them for the next six months! We used to have a cat that liked to pee in piles/baskets of clothes!! I'm glad this one doesn't do that! She is spoiled, and hypersensitive! TMI, but she got diarrhea last week the minute she saw our suitcases come out when we were getting ready to go to Canada! Give me a break!! I guess she thought we were leaving for another three weeks! I read an article by Consumer Reports recently and I know one of the TVs they recommended was the Vizio HDs. I know Costco sells them, but don't know who else. They're fairly inexpensive. We have a 42" Samsung LCD that we've had about a year and a half and we really like it. I trust Sears for large appliances/TVs, etc. Before i picked out this TV, I had bought one at Best Buy. Then I had second thoughts and cancelled it. The guy had just applied too much pressure and talked me into something I wasn't sure I wanted. So I went across the street to Sears and found a better deal.- New 60+ Thread
I sure understand your frustration, Rosie.. and Don & others! And I sure feel BLESSED, because I had no such requirements or waiting period! I had my first appt with my surgeon in May of last year and had my surgery 7/20/07. They didn't even require a psych consult?! They used cardiology workup I'd had the previous August. Nutrition consult was about the extent of my required preliminaries! Go figure!! And this was a fairly large bariatric practice/clinic doing a LOT of bypass and LapBand surgeries. I didn't realize how quickly I was able to get through the process until I started reading all your posts! At the time, it seemed to me that I was waiting FOREVER!! My heart goes out to all of you playing the waiting game!- Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Good Morning, Bandsters! Where is everyone this morning??? Can't believe I"m the first to post and it's after 9 a.m.!! Nice sunny morning here, though a chilly 56 degrees. We spent yesterday at youngest DD's... watched the three little ones while they went to a movie and had kids fed and dinner ready for the four of us when they got home. It was a fun day, but busy. We ususally take the kids to the neighborhood park, but it was just too chilly yesterday so they played in the backyard. Little Thomas gets his pronouns kind of backwards, so he kept asking Grandpa, "Can I come out and play with you??" He wanted Grandpa to come downstairs and push him on the swing. Or he says, "Can I help you??" if HE needs help! Another good one is "Can you sit on my lap??!" He's a cutie! Oldest was excited to be starting 1st grade today, but Charly didn't sound too enthusiastic about starting kindergarten! He mentioned it briefly. Oh, 6 yr old also showed us a gold dollar coin that she found under her pillow after putting her tooth there.... she's missing her bottom teeth. So I asked her if she thought I could get one if I put a tooth under MY pillow. She thought about it a minute and then said she knew where there was a tooth she could get me, in her Mom's bathroom!!! So I asked DD about that and she sheepishly admitted she still had the wisdom teeth she had pulled some years ago... saving them for some reason!! I told her if she is that much of a "pack rat" now, she is going to be in serious trouble in 20 years!! I didn't get the tooth... have no confidence in the tooth fairy in this house!! Which somehow reminds me..... DH, who is as tight-fisted as they come, bought me a VERY expensive bottle of perfume when we were out shopping at the Navy base the other day. I had given him a little card sprayed with what I wanted many weeks ago....he found it and bought it! WOW!! I love it! There IS a Santa Claus!! Cat pooped on a throw rug in the bathroom this morning, near her litterbox, which was clean... because she was mad that we left her all day yesterday! She's a snot! Hope everyone is having a great week.... new week, new month, school starting, etc. I changed my ticker even though we didn't have a weigh in because of the holiday this week. I used my Wii Fit weigh in instead. I'm finally a hair more than halfway to my goal. Though I may change it when I get there. I didn't make my exercise goal last month because we were gone until the 12th and then gone again last weekend. DH is trying so hard to lose, too, but I keep telling him about 100X a day that the scale is not going down because he's not eating enough calories. So yesterday he splurged a little and sure enough, the scale was down for him today!- Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
You're TOO MUCH!! Well.... today you can have your "kayak and heat it, too!" HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Ears are doing fine. Did I tell you that after Linda & I figured out that my old hole in the right ear was out of alignment with the left, I went and had another one put in on the right side that was better aligned... so I have one extra hole on that side now. That was after I got to Buffalo... found another "Piercing Pagoda" at the mall. THEN, my youngest sister was with me that day and a few days later she decided she was going back and get a little blue flower put in at the top of her ear. It looked so cute that the last day in Buffalo I decided to go get one, too... a little pink flower. That's really the only one that is still hurting a little. She told me that since it's in cartilege I can't change it for THREE MONTHS! The others can probably be switched out now if I want to. After we got home, we were out to lunch with youngest DD & three youngest grandchildren. Thomas, almost 3 yrs was sitting next to me. Halfway through lunch he says, "Grandma, there's a BUG on your ear!" Glad to see you back, Beth!! Arms are an issue! I'd post a picture I took on our Mall of America trip... Janet & Linda comparing bat wings... but that could get me in trouble!!:biggrin::wink2::biggrin::biggrin:- Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
Karri, and ALL the rest of you teachers, I just found a newspaper clipping that I cut out several years ago that I thought I'd share: "A disgruntled school teacher turned in her resignation with the following comment: "In our public schools today, the teachers are afraid of the principals, the principals are afraid of the superintendents, the superintendents are afraid of the board, the board members are afraid of the parents, the parents are afraid of the children, and the children are afraid of no one."- Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
