  1. Will be anxious to hear what your doc decides to do. Mine knew we were about to head to So CA for the winter, so she just told me to get lots of sun this winter and she'll check it again in the spring when we get back.
  2. That's GREAT news, Joann!! Don't be nervous! You're going to be a SUPERSTAR!!
  3. Soccer game was almost as bad as the football game! Final score 6-1! Those poor girls were just exhausted playing in that hot sun! Ruby, good job on cutting out the exercise today. Now I can't remember what else I wanted to post!
  4. Let me pose a question to all of you NW folks. I saw my doc 2 weeks ago. She had already cut one cholesterol Rx, cut one BP med in half and that day cut the other to half strength also. She wanted to do blood work to check cholesterol since it'd been a few months since she'd cut the one med. I told her my P.A. at surgeon's office cautioned me to make sure I was getting enough Thiamine since us band folks don't get much bread and that's where we get Thiamine/B-1, so she decided to do another profile to check nutrients, etc. She called me the night before we were leaving for the winter to tell me she was a little puzzled because my Vit D was less than half what it should be. Normal is 50 ng/ml, mine was 22! So she told me to get lots of sun while in CA & she'll check again when we get back (not until May!) At the time she had me get the blood drawn, we were right towards the end of that couple of weeks of wonderful weather and I'd been out riding around the neighborhood on my (handicap) scooter every day for at least an hour, sometimes two hours. So, was just wondering if any of you have had problems like this??
  5. Well, I can't claim "no wrinkling", but i sure like my thinner face complete with a few more wrinkles! My driver's license picture from a couple of months prior to banding speaks 1000 words! I can't stand looking at that big, round, bloated face! I'll be happy when it runs out! I may even opt for the new "enhanced" ID/driver's license just to get a new picture!! And next month I have to get a new military dependent ID because I turn 65, so I will get a new picture on that one, too!
  6. Good Saturday afternoon to all of you! Spending time with family in the San Francisco area on our way south for the winter. Welcome to all of you who are new here! I enjoy reading all your posts. Blessings in your journey!!
  7. Good Afternoon! Another nice sunny day in the bay area. Football game was a bust!! Big, nasty team beat us 41 - 7! Justin got beat up pretty bad. He looks so skinny & fragile out there with all those BIG guys! He's 6' 1", but only 150#~~!! In two hours, soccer game... GD. It's close so I'm going to ride my scooter over! I'll get some VIT D today! Sorry to hear about MIL, Karri. Hope things level out for you soon! Steph, dogs are all darling! Hope you're able to eat soon. Not a good situation! Watched or listened to a good part of the debate. Thought it was a wash.
  8. Doctors all vary, but most want you back on liquids at least 24 hrs, then mushy 24 hrs before back to normal regime. Hi, Texas! Welcome! You'll do fine! NO such thing as TOO OLD!!
  9. Okay.... I'm getting pretty good at this texting stuff!! 11 yr old GD was shocked and impressed! But, I do NOT know what LMAO is!?? Please inform me for future reference!! DH is trying to remain calm about not being here tonight to watch the debate! He has DIL recording... X3, I think!!! Cable, DirecTV & she is going to see if he can watch it on computer if those fail!! :tt1::wub::thumbup::wub::tongue:
  10. Trying to keep up with all the posts in between doing things with family. Went out to lunch today with BIL & SIL... DH's brother & wife, and our DIL. WE went to a fish place, so I got grilled scallops & shrimp w/steamed veggies and cherry tomatoes! Good! Going to watch GS play football in a couple of hours. He is only 15 & starting QB for his varsity team. Last week he threw a touchdown pass with 5 seconds on the clock! Don't think it'll be that exciting tonight. Playing a very tough team, but it'll be great fun to see him play. We've paid our dues watching him sit on the bench for a lot of years. Last year he was JV back-up QB so we got to see him play about 1 quarter! Plus i LOVE to watch football. I even have a Fantasy Football team on GS's league online! (Sorry about Brett, Steph!! :bolt: DH has been in a foul mood most of the past week or so...not so much when we're on the road, but when we're stationary... he watches too much news about our dire economic situation & then he gets cranky! UGH! And visiting family, he CANNOT control me so easily! Drives him crazy!
  11. I bought a "Magic Bullet" for the mushie stage and it was great... still use it, especially after a fill.
  12. Steph, Hope you're doing better. Sinus stuff is not fun!! Sounds like you had an especially nasty bout!! New avatar... see a distinct resemblance to your mom! That's a great picture! So, are you doing some subbing?? We're in CA at son's. Did about 1/2 hr of Wii this morning on DIL's board. She has a silicone sleeve on it. I think I"ll get one. Mine is getting really dirty from sweaty feet!
  13. Citracal makes a "petite" tablet that goes down pretty easy and it is calcium citrate and not carbonate.
  14. So good to hear from you! Were hoping you were going to make it to the M of A. We had a great time! Congrats on your weight loss. You're doing great! Keep us posted!
  15. Good visit with my sis, except they monopolized my Wii!! DH set it up the first night we were there and i did get to used it a little, but nephews & BIL wanted to bowl, box, golf, play tennis!! Second night I didn't get to use it at all!! Now at DS for a few days. Will move on further south next Tuesday. Certainly enjoying the nice warm temps here in bay area!!
  16. Tried to respond to this yesterday & I got bumped off line. I think I read somewhere that the Milk Thistle could upset your stomach. Could be that. We are in your area every fall & spring on our way/way back... so maybe in the spring we can get together.
  17. Yeah, could be the meds. What are you taking?? Thought of you this weekend... was in Myrtle Point, Bandon, etc.. your "neighborhood", visiting my sister. PB is Productive Burp.. not the same as vomiting, so stomach acid, food just sort of pops back out because you ate too much, didn't chew enough, ate too fast, etc. Sliming, PBing, not a happy experience! Yes, DH is "dear husband", SIL= son-in-law, etc. So sorry for your troubles. Will keep you in my prayers, Teresa.
  18. Hi, Carolyn! Welcome! We're not ALL ladies here.. for one, we have Don, who has been waiting a LONG time and is about to get his surgery date. This is a great place for support, encouragement and sharing of things only those of us who have been there/done that can tell you. And we are all more than happy to share our experiences and whatever knowledge we have gained from the various sources available to us. We are a unique group.. the 60+ folks! We're in our "sunset years" and quality of life means a lot more to us than the younger ones! Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have and we'll do our best to answer!
  19. Enjoying a couple days visit with my sister and her family. We played on the Wii until almost midnight last night. Sister has been trying to find one for a long time. We brought ours in the house & they had a blast trying everything out. Going to one of my favorite little seaside towns today. SIL's dad passed away last night. He is still in CA. DD is driving back to WA with the three little ones. She wanted to get the kids back in school. Friend of hers flew down to help her with the driving. We may be able to attend the funeral on Thurs as we'll be down in the bay area by then... so about a 2 hr drive away.
  20. Hmmm... I was always cold before surgery and now it's worse, so I can relate to that! And I know I have a slow metabolism, too. I emailed Janet about this new issue because I couldn't get on the LBT site, but now it's working again so I can run this past the rest of you. My doc finally got a hold of me last night about my lab work. She is puzzled because my Vit. d level is less than half what it should be... she said normal is 50 ng/ml, mine is 22. She knows I am out in the sun a lot (well,as much as I can get in WA!!) so this is not making any sense. My arms are quite tan so I know I'm getting some sun. So now i'm getting all stressed out about this. I did a little research online and that was just scary, so I quit. I'm getting plenty of sun, take Centrum Silver Chewable every day and have about 10-12 oz of fat free milk every day. So what's up with this Vit D deficiency??? Any ideas out there?? Karri, any thoughts on this?? My doc said, "let's do a little experiment. Get as much sun as you can while you're in CA and we'll run the tests again when you get back." Well, we won't be home for probably SEVEN MONTHS!! DH wants to stay down there until about May 1st because it was so cold and miserable after we got home this past spring! I'm not really comfortable with letting this ride for that long!
  21. Hi, We're ready to load the car with the last of the "STUFF" that is going with us. DH is losing his mind. Just spent about 30 minutes looking for a baggie of cords that was right in front of his face. So once I pointed out to him that.. YES, this IS what you've been looking for, now he's searching for the cell phone chargers that he THOUGHT were in that bag. That's okay. I was up until almost 2 a.m. sorting through all the junk on my computer table trying to figure out what needed to go with me and what needed to be put away until spring and what needed to just go in the trash! One more stop... at the doc's office for my Rx. Did find out some of the results of my bloodwork. Didn't like the fasting blood sugar. It was 103... should be below 100. That should definitely not be an issue. But I had just downed 20 oz of Crystal Lite. I know there is probably a small amount of sugar in it, but don't think it should have upped my sugar that much. Anyway, triglycerides 79... excellent, LDL/HDL ratio good, but HDL a little higher than I'd like to see it. Sub for the regular nurse is a retard so I don't trust what she was telling me anyway!! TTYL
  22. Hmmm.. Sorry.. I think that was me!! I've been pretty busy getting ready to leave. This is our last night in the condo! We're going to finish loading the RV tomorrow & sleep in it at our daughter's tomorrow night so we'll be ready to head out bright and early the next morning. Spent today making phone calls.... stop paper, put cable & phone & internet on vacation suspend, go fill out form to have mail forwarded, and.... go get a pedicure!! Manicure is tomorrow! And have to connect up with my doc...missed her phone call yesterday, she didn't call back today so I left her a message.... she wanted to tell me the results of blood work from yesterday and give me her final decision on Rx. Then I have to go pick them up tomorrow. So tomorrow will be busy! And DS is here getting GD settled in dorm at U of WA, so tomorrow night we're all going out to dinner somewhere. He's heading south Sat. also, back to S.F. DH has to get Wii set up in the RV tomorrow, too! So, I'll catch up on posts whenever I can.
  23. I can't believe they haven't said anything!! What is the matter with us "church people"?? I told my "church friends", and everyone else, for that matter, from the beginning. In fact, one of my friends from our "Primetimers" group had her surgery a week ago. I'm really psyched about that because she has multiple medical problems and it will be wonderful to see these improve as she loses!
  24. You're doing GREAT!!! I admire your determination! We'll send a wave out your way as we go through OR this weekend. We head south on Saturday, stopping to see my sister in Myrtle Point.
