Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
Made it through water aerobics and hot tub time without rain today! But the 2nd class wasn't that lucky! LOL! It started raining about half way through their class. I was in the showers by then. But Earl brought the scooter up to me and then took it back to the RV! Fortunately he brought an umbrella so he could get it back without getting it wet. I had taken the car up earlier, so I ended up driving it back. He was going to use it to bring the laundry up. We made a crockpot full of chili on Tuesday, so we've been eating that all week. Except last night Earl made a meat loaf. The sun is out right now, but I see dark, ugly, unfriendly looking clouds coming this way! Its supposed to stop by tomorrow. It's kind of chilly, too. It was 46 this morning when I went up to water aerobics, and car thermometer said it was still 46 when I went back to the RV 2 hrs later! That's pretty cold for here!

Wait a minute!! That was JANET loving the rain! NOT ME!! I live in WA, remember??? I see plenty of that when I go home! It can stop any time now and I'll be happy. Water aerobics and hot tub in the pouring rain this morning was unique, but I'm not anxious to do it again any time soon! After I did some serious arm twisting, we went in to Desert Hot Springs for a short trip! We needed eggs, gas in the empty gas tank, and Mama needed a latte from SBX! AND, I needed to get out of "the compound" for a little while just to make sure the real world is still out there. So we went to the grocery store, gas station and SBX. It was an adventure. Had to drive through several inches of water in two different places. In fact, Earl chickened out once, but then we came that way on the way back and did just fine. The sun was out when we got back to the RV but now the sky is getting very dark again. Waiting to hear how Janet's trip across town went!! LOTS of roads closed in and around Palm Springs.

So you're driving over to Tijuana? Are you doing it all in one day? Wondered if you thought about stopping in PS. Still raining here! Didn't think we'd have water aerobics this morning, so decided to join the DVD walkers for a while. Did 30 minutes of that and then 15 minutes on the stationary bike. THEN I saw a couple of the water aerobics gals going to the pool with the CD player!! They set it up under cover so it wouldn't get wet. So, decided to go to that, too! So I got in a lot of exercise this morning. Had to take off my glasses because it was raining so hard I couldn't see, and my hair got soaking wet! But it was fun. And then we went and sat in one of the hot tubs in the rain!

Unfinished projects?? Yes, I have two at the moment! One is even MORE unfinished tonight than it was earlier today! I started on that poinsettia bracelet before Christmas! I was going to do it as the pattern shows... red/green. But then saw a couple in different colors and I liked the monochrome one.. pearls and clear crystals and silver spacers. So I got it about halfway done during class. So took it to activities with me today to work on while I sat there manning the desk and phone for 2 hrs. But I added a few beads and the more I looked at it, the more dissatisfied I was with it. Threads showing where they shouldn't and a couple of little mistakes that I decided I couldn't live with so I took the whole thing apart and I'm going to start over! I also have the necklace I started last week! I need to work on that because I'd really like to wear it on the cruise... and that's only 10 days away! What is it about California!!???? I wanted to see a weather update... so I put on the 10 p.m. news... and so far the first 20 minutes is helicopter coverage of a police chase. WHO CARES!???? I want to watch the news and weather!! Went to meeting tonight... almost 2 hrs... Community Emergency Response Team. They want me to join because I have a HAM radio license. Problem is we can't find my radio. I know it is somewhere in this RV but Earl insists we left it home. I NEVER leave it home when we go for the winter. He just can't find it and doesn't remember where he put it. Tracy checked the condo yesterday and couldn't find it.

Pouring down rain for the last 2 hrs or so.... 3rd day in a row to have rain like this and it's supposed to be worse tomorrow! Hope you can get to Dr. Bobby's, Janet! Roads might be flooded!! Candice gave me the idea to use PayPal for the deposit. Actually, the homeowner, Suzanne Lambert, suggested it as a way I could pay her, but didn't dawn on me until Candice mentioned it, that you could all send me your $$ that way. So I sent each of you a "money request" for $38. Then when I receive the money in to my account, I will use it to pay Suzanne. Got in our water aerobics this morning, but I don't know about tomorrow! Not if this rain keeps up.

Overcooked food is ABSOLUTELY a problem... for me, at least. The only steak I eat is filet, my fish cannot be overdone or it won't stay down. Last night I pb'd some chicken. I can't eat chicken breast unless its very tender and never if it's overdone. My DH is a Viet Nam vet, also. He came home pretty healthy emotionally, but he was pretty protected on an air base. Not that they didn't get shelled frequently, but he endured it all very well.

Good Evening!! It's RAINING again!! It's been raining a good part of the afternoon and evening! I had a busy day! Water aerobics, hot tub, shower and then straight to beading. It was cold and rainy outside and not much incentive to leave, so most of us stayed until about 3:30 p.m. We were working on a bracelet today and I wanted to finish it before I left since I already have two other projects that are still unfinished! I did my bracelet in red and purple... I just gave away a Red Hat bracelet because it was too big. I have small wrists. That's one nice thing about making my own bracelets.. I can make them small enough to fit. This one today.. I made it too long and ended up having to take some of it apart. Got both ends of the fastener on, tried it on my wrist and it fell right off. So had to take off one end of the fastener, take off 2 or 3 patterns and reattach the fastener! What kind of ticked me off is that I want to make matching earrings and she charged me for the extra beads I needed to make the earrings! Doesn't seem fair since everyone else uses more beads, pearls, etc., than me because my wrists are small! Heard from the owner of the home we want to use this summer. She wants $268 deposit. I can pay it with Paypal. Or she said we could send her a check.

Looked at that place. Very nice... but not too conveniently located. It's in Bremerton, which is on the other side of Puget Sound... long car drive or 1 hr ferry ride to get there. Don't see anything really compelling about it to choose it over the Camano Island place. It may be physically bigger, but doesn't say anything about pull out sofas... so don't know why it says it sleeps 8 with 3 beds. And would be a pain to drive the RV over there, and expensive... I think about $80 to take it on the ferry, or 100+ miles to drive around through Tacoma and back north. Lots more to see and do on the other side of the sound.

Homeowner just called me. Very nice lady. I asked her about deposit and I can't remember what she said!! I think it was 25%, which would be about $200 unless she adds in the $200 cleaning fee. It's... king size bed in master, two twins in 2nd BR, 2 pullout sofas in the LR. I assume floor space for blow up mattresses if we need more sleeping space, and she said RV parking is ample.. so we'll park the RV there for a couple more beds... queen size plus queen pull out in front. Tracy is happy you're coming to WA and wants to have us over for BBQ... on the 4th if you like. Then we can either go to our church for fireworks... big professional display, or back to our house on the waterfront as homeowner says all the neighbors do thier own thing and there will be plenty of fireworks there to enjoy. Another thing I asked the lady about is quilting places.. for our quilt ladies... she emailed me the name of a shop very close to where we'll be within 5 minutes and has a friend who will give her some other suggestions. So.. are we set on this place??? Have you all had a chance to look at the pictures...? It's the Camano Island place.. I think she said Port Susan.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
I think we've zoned in on the Camano Island home. It's on the water with a beautiful view, not more than 1/2 hr from where we live, has RV parking so can bring the RV for extra beds, close to outlet mall, casino, restaurants. It's 60 miles from the airport. We'll figure that out. Hoping Tracy will help with transportation. It's $200/night plus $200 cleaning fee... so I guess that would be $1000 for the four nights. Not too bad divided up. We will have to reserve it soon since it's a holiday weekend. So, you all need to look at it closely... do your own research if you want.... zero in on Snohomish County if you do that... Candice found a place in Spokane!! That's 6 hrs away on the other side of WA state! LOL! So, stick with Snohomish County if you want to look some more. But this is one of the few I found that was affordable and big enough. It has 2 bedrooms, one king size bed, I think it's twins in the other but I looked at so many I'm not sure... Then it has two pullout beds. If we need more sleeping space... I will borrow blow up mattresses. I think Tracy may have one.

Yes, school I went to in NY state did the same thing. Right up through high school the Catholic kids left early on Mondays. In high school, the rest of us got sent to study hall until regular dismissal time. When you think about it... with all the financial troubles school systems have now.... back in those days those kids got bussed to their churches that day. That would never happen these days. So many schools don't provide bus service at all anymore. Some of our grandkids have to take public busses to get to school so the moms carpool them. So sad that you might have to kill time at Starbucks or McD's!! :w00t::biggrin: I'd pick Starbucks but you probably already know that!! LOL! Yes... keep practicing that Sudoku! You can beat me! I know you can! If you get a new purse, we want to see a picture! Hey, Nawlinz!! It sounds like you're doing GREAT! Don't be so quiet! Jump in! It's all good! We have about 2 more days of nice weather before a week of what we are warned is going to be very wet. We'll see if they're right. But we planned a trip to Quartzsite AZ with friends from our high school days.. we were supposed to go Monday, but we're going Sunday instead because of the weather forecast. Then hope to stay tomorrow night at a casino near the Mexican border so we can go to Algodones the next day.. if it's not too wet!

Tracy just texted this photo of Jack Russell puppies they looked at today. Think she's taking the black and white one but not sure if its for her or her MIL. She looked at pugs yesterday for MIL, but then she started telling me that HER new puppy needed a playmate!

Tell me about it!! There is chocolate in the house and I need to get rid of it because it talks to me! I'm giving it away tomorrow. We have a Red Hat Ladies get together and supposed to bring a gift. Guess what my gift is going to be???!! And I've had the munchies way too much lately!

Sorry I missed your post, Debbie! Did you try searching online for Myocel?? Amazon is a good place to get stuff like that. In my early stages I used E.A.S. protein which I got at costco. But, of course that is a great big bag... I never did use it all, but with two of you, you probably would. Most doctors kind of discourage the use of Protein drinks after about the first 6 weeks because they want you to be eating "hard" protein. It keeps you feeling full longer. But, every time you have an adjustment, they usually want you back on liquids for a day. Hello, TN girl! Welcome to both of you.

Yes... Seattle airport...SEATAC. I know Alaska Airlines has a direct flight from Palm Springs. Have researched accommodations online both last night and this morning... hoping to come up with something like your mentors site found... 3 BR condo for a GREAT price. But not coming up with anything affordable. It's a holiday weekend, which doesn't help! May call the hotel and see if we need several rooms if they'd cut the rate. Cloudy, overcast day, but best not complain because the next week is supposed to be miserable. We're going to Quartzsite AZ with high school friends on Sunday. Big RV show plus rocks & gems & swap meets galore!! We were supposed to go Monday, but weather looks yucky for that day so we changed it to Sunday. Then want to spend the night in a new casino near the Mexican border and go to Algodones the next day... and walk around in the rain probably!

Maybe they would cut the rate if both of you were having surgery??? Or maybe you already asked them that. Yeah, I probably shouldn't have had that cookie. The biscotti was the only thing I had for lunch that day so I don't feel bad about that. Calories the rest of the day were okay. Pancake.... I have one small, thin pancake the first Wed. of each month, but only while we're here. Scale went down .6 lb today. Not much, but it was down again. We skipped water aerobics because the wind was awful over here this morning! Barely a breeze now, but so bad this morning that we drove up to the clubhouse for TOPS meeting. Went out for breakfast after that... a rare occasion any more. Had an omelet, hash browns, english muffin... Ate about half of everything. Then lost much of that in the BR!! Shouldn't have eaten the 1/2 english muffin! Lunch was at Costco, but we were there early, weekday, not much to sample and I was still feeling pretty rocky. So by the time I got home I was hungry (which rarely happens these days) but it was too late for lunch. So we had a few tiny cubes of cheese, two small wedges of pheasant sausage and a couple of crackers. Oh... and one small glass of wine. We are really sticking to that this week! Earl is making spaghetti/meatballs for dinner... probably over green beans. LOTS of garlic being crunched at the moment! Yummy! Tracy thinks camera was EasyShare. I asked her about battery life and she said she used AA rechargeable and didn't have any problem. I did a little resarch online, and Consumer Reports Mag... they picked two EasyShares as their "Best Buy" picks.... the C160 and the M320. I looked at the M320 at Walmart today. It was $99, but for another $10 they had a very similar camera with several more features and a few more pixels. I think the best prices tend to be online. I've been using Amazon.com a lot lately. I like the "customer reviews" option that lets you see what buyers think of whatever you're researching. But there are other good sites for buying electronics.

I have no wisdom to offer here, but... it has to have something to do with the surgery/pain meds I think. DD#1 having similar problems now that she's weaned off her post-op pain pills (hysterectomy in Nov). And I had the same problem after my knee surgery. TOO FUNNY!!!

New 60+ Thread
Okay. Someone on one of the threads lives in Bloomington, I think, near the University of Indiana. I thought it was you. We visited Indiana quite a few times when our son was stationed there. I didn't realize what a beautiful state it is! Love the little towns! Here is a "progress" picture taken this past weekend. The other picture was taken a little over 5 yrs ago.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
That is a funny story... but so sorry you broke your camera. It's also funny because.... HOW could you think you looked FAT in anything????!! I just sent a text message to Tracy asking whatkind of camera she had in Canada. I think Jim just bought her a new one though... not because she NEEDED one. Jim has a camera problem like I have a hat, purse & shoe problem!! LOL. I think he bought himself one of those Flip video cameras the same day. So... you didn't take another little drive to Williston, did you?? Or Minot?? I never did sing you my "I Hate Minot" song did I?? My kids still remember it... and they were little. One of them told me just a week or so ago that they could still remember all the words... I think it was Tracy telling me she sang it for Jim! There used to be a commercial years ago.. maybe when I was a kid, even, that went "I LOVE Bosco, it's the drink for me!" So I changed all the words and taught it to the kids! So... where is all this insomnia coming from??? You, Karri, Tracy.... I'm hearing about lots of people having problems with insomnia. I had Water aerobics this morning, then 1/2 hr to eat my lunch (salad), then to Activities office to sit and sell tickets and answer the phone for 2 hrs (listened to my audiobook and worked on this week's necklace when I wasn't busy). Then I went up to get my mail at the office and then to book club!! I was an hour late because of volunteering, so I missed all the book discussion. So I had a cup of coffee and a COOKIE, and some really delicious SF Jello salad... had lite cream cheese in it, FF cool whip, sf jello, crunched up pretzels, strawberries. I want the recipe! So now it's time for Judge Judy and a glass of wine! CBL Oh... I just found this really horrible picture of me from 5 yrs ago that I have to share.. same sweatshirt as my usual "before" photo taken at the start of my pre-op diet. Sorry to post pictures AGAIN... but ya gotta see this:

My goodness!! How did you break your camera?? Were you outside taking pictures of that beautiful rainbow this morning!?? Earl woke me up at 7 a.m..... I'm usually already up but for some reason I was still fast asleep. It was a complete rainbow... from horizon to horizon. We both took pictures, but really don't do it justice. It was GORGEOUS!! Anyway... sorry about your camera. Mine is a Canon. But frankly, my last one was a Nikon CoolPix and I think it was easier to navigate the menus on that one. If I were to buy another one, I'd also seriously look at the Kodak EasyShares, too. On my new wish list is a Kodak Zi8 Video... the flip style easy video camera. They're on sale somewhere.. I think Target... for $150 this week. I'm dying to buy one and wondering if I should use some of my "mad money" to just DO IT! Someone here is giving me flack every time I bring it up. Would be nice to have for the cruise later this week.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
Good Morning! Gee... what happened to the sun. It was gorgeous not long ago and suddenly it's cloudy. Sorry... I'd best not complain about weather!! It IS 54 degrees at 8 a.m.! Busy day again today... water aerobics and my usual morning routine, then Christian Ladies' Luncheon at noon. Then I'm going to go to beading again for a little while... if they're still there after the luncheon... and work on my necklace some more. It's going to take a LONG time to get it to 18", which I think is about what I want... maybe 19. No reason I can't work on it at home, but better lighting there, and I get to socialize with the ladies. Hope you all have a GREAT day... check back this afternoon!
