  1. Big A$$ excavator!! LOL! Reminds me of this... church we're going to meets in the gym I belong to. One Sunday we had a visiting lady preacher... young gal. She opened by saying that the last time she had preached there, she had a tough time ignoring the fan. At that point we all looked up at the ceiling... brand name of the fan in great big letters.... "BIG A$$ FAN"!!! And it was the biggest fan I have ever seen and I'd never noticed before! I have a couple of those little bottles that they sell on airplanes... I think they are merlot. Then I have a couple of the same size bottles of homemade wine that we got at the wedding... blueberry merlot and strawberry reisling. Yummy!!! Palm Springs... so can we count on a visit??? Portland is only about 3 1/2 hrs from us. We're about 35-40 miles north of Seattle. Can't believe they actually asked if you wanted to move again!! You just about got settled!!
  2. Hugs, girl! Didn't know you had such hard stuff going on. You are always so UP and so cheerful. We're here for you!!!
  3. Beef stew. Didn't put the yogurt in.. forgot it is strawberry! Think I'll have some in the morning with some granola. Because we are in an RV we get East coast and West coast feeds, so I can record two shows in the same time slot early and two more late if I want to! But that hardly ever happens. I record my favorites on the early feed and then others on the west coast feed. Our DVR holds a lot, but it's an HD DVR and we don't have HD. If we did, I'm sure we wouldn't have enough space either. What is Detroit 187??? When is it on. I don't think I saw it on the schedule. I did watch Blue Blood last week and liked it. But I watched The Lone Star, too... and had a bit of trouble understanding it.. but then I had to keep the volume way down because Earl was sleeping. But seems to be a young con man working with his Dad who has two lives basically... and then he decides he likes the fake one best and wants to stop conning and do the job for real. Anyone else watch it??
  4. Church starts at 9:30 a.m. right now. I don't think it changes until January. Then we go to 2 services... at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., I think. Choir not starting up for a while so I don't have to go early yet. Yes, it was HOT coming back home on the scooter. I have a shade for that thing, but last year Earl forgot to bring it and I don't think he brought it this year either! But then there are a LOT of days when it's too windy to use it. Earl is taking a nap... my chance to doctor up the stew in the crock pot!:biggrin::crying: First I'll put a little wine in it, then maybe some Greek yogurt!! Yes, hope Linda is over her flu by now and feeling like new! Karla... HELLO??? Steph is making popcorn today... or I guess that's kettle corn. Karri... not feeling like talking right now. Sorry! Who else is missing???? I have shows I recorded last week that I haven't watched yet, too. If I get bored with these football games I recorded, I may watch one or two! I'm recording the Seahawks now, but it just started at 1pm and I like to FF the commercials and half time, so I'm watching another game for a while. Have to get a few things ready to mail, too... Photos for our grandson, Cody, CD I bought my sister, birthday card for granddaughter, Rachel... Turning 14 in about a week.
  5. Ah... thank you for reminding me... my pillow!! I really don't mind the heat, but Earl is miserable! Sinuses still bothering him, too. I can't wait until Tuesday! This is going to be a busy week. I think I will go do a little shopping by myself after lunch tomorrow. Tuesday the EENT appt will dominate the afternoon. Wed. I'm hoping I can go get my nails done somewhere and Thurs. I will see if the beautician here will do my hair after water aerobics. And later we're meeting friends from up north in Palm Springs for dinner at our favorite fish place and then the Thursday night street fair. So I better be all packed by then because Janet picks me up at 8 a.m.! Yeah, guess I'll ditch the dress pants idea, too. I have white capris... but debating about bringing them. They show every ripple of cellulite and fat in my thighs. Might see if I can find a different pair in town tomorrow. No heels for me, though. Only sandals! Bringing bathing suits, too. I guess I can deal with that. Debating about whether or not to bring wine! I have some small bottles I might bring. I've had the same experience with lifting bags in to the overhead. Some attendants not very nice about it. But.. usually, as soon as I try doing it myself, some chivalrous gentleman will offer to help. I generally lift it first to the seat, then to the back of the seat, and usually I'm rescued before I get it that far!!:biggrin::crying:
  6. Jodi... you are a true New Yorker... all that walking!! I couldn't keep up with you I'm sure!! Limo sounds great, but will it seat all 11 of us?? But, we will have two cars there, too... Janet & Eva. I'm up for whatever.... I think!! LOL Hot, hot, hot here today.... and all week 100+! Sitting inside watching football for now. This is making DH very grumpy! So, I might be venturing out later!! Started a stack of things I want to bring with me on my makeup table. Trying not to bring too much! Eva.... we were posting at the same time. Your lunch sounds intriguing... I will definitely have to try the cucumbers in yogurt! And the chicken.. that would give it a real different taste. Sounds good. Earl has put beef stew in the crock pot for later... I'm thinking maybe I should add a little Greek yogurt to that now!!
  7. Thank you for that report!!:biggrin::confused::crying::confused: I won't pass it on to Earl. He already knows anyway! He's been whining about the heat since he got out of bed this morning. Now he's whining about how many amps we're using! Close to maxing out the circuit breaker! He took the car to the chapel this morning, I rode my scooter and basked in the sun!! :frown::tt1:
  8. Glad you had a fun date! Yea, those mushrooms sounded good to me, too. So sorry you can't come to Vegas. We will miss you. Earl is feeling a little better. Has EENT appt on Tuesday. Yeah, Zoey is wanting some attention, too. She wants me to play ball with her, but eventually all the balls end up out of reach and I won't go get them. Game over!! LOL Someone said the avg. temp was 80, but don't know for sure. It's been really hot this week here, and supposed to be about 110 for a couple more days. I suspect that we will want sweaters in the air conditioning. At least, I will. I am always cold. I bought a new pair of cotton twill capris and some sleeveless tops I can wear another blouse over. Planning on bringing one outfit that is a little dressier in case we go out to dinner to someplace where we need to dress up a little. But, nothing but sandals! I would LOVE your pea soup! We don't make it very often, but like to put in all those veggies, too! Great pictures!
  9. Our youngest son lived with a girl who was kinda crazy for a couple of years.. mother of his 2nd son. She would call me when they were having a fight and yell and scream at me about whatever she was mad about. Then Steve would get the phone and he would be all calm, cool and collected and tell me she was crazy! She would get violently angry. Thankfully, grandson is with her mother and not with her! OH... those sound really good to me! LOL I have a few before photos in my phone!
  10. We went to Costco and Starbucks. Earl complaining about the heat, but at least he's off the stock market and Obama!! LOL I need to get my nails done before Friday! Where do you take your dogs? Need to ask around and see if anyone in the park does it. Zoey could use a little clip, especially around her face. And I think her nails need to be clipped again! When I play football with her she makes me fight for the ball and she uses those front paws like hands... so I have to deal with the nails!
  11. He doesn't want to go today. I think he needs antibiotics, so, should go today and get something... then EENT can deal with the ongoing problems on Tuesday. He feels miserable. Zoey didn't like to be bathed at first... freaked out the first time. But now she sort of seems to enjoy it.
  12. I have a card but don't remember which purse it is in!!:smile2:Yes.... he is grumpy because it is hot. He keeps running to the laundry at the clubhouse. We had a ton of it. Told him if he will get me a golf cart I could take it up myself. But he takes it in the car and then has to carry it up that steep sidewalk. With a golf cart, and my handicap pass, I could park at the top of the sidewalk. My campaign this winter will be to get a golf cart! Big blue scooter is acting up. Quit half way to the pool one day this week. Going to costco as soon as the laundry is done. About 5 loads in the dryers now. Have photos to pick up. Had a bunch printed from this summer and RV trip. And we need mushrooms and a few other things. I want to go back to DHS to browse at Glossy's. Got a new swim suit yesterday but had to make it quick because Earl and Zoey were waiting outside. Want one more suit and look at their sale stuff. Got some capris and 3 sleeveless shirts this week... for the hot weather.
  13. Well, last night wasn't too bad so now he has a "plan" to get him through to Tuesday and his EENT appt! You better NOT cancel!! Yep, Janet is our cheer leader, encourager, kick in the butt when we need it girl!! FOR SURE, LINDA!!! DITTO, SISTA!!!! WELL SAID! Can't wait to meet you! We're going to have a great time. Yep.... DITTO.... we have to stick together. The support we give one another is SO vital!! Hope you got some sleep! So you missed your hair appt? Make time for YOU next week!!
  14. Welcome to the "newbies". This is a great site.
  15. So sorry for all that!! Drugs/alcohol can sure mess up your life. Too bad it impacts the whole family. Yes, good advice, Steph. Earl slept a little better last night but I think he's taking way too much over the counter stuff plus some meds the neighbor gave him. He's got the a/c on.... not opening any windows since we got here. I hate being shut up like that. This early in the morning, I'd love the door open. And he's had the front window covered up since we got here, too.... big foil window thing plus curtains, so I can't see out except through his window! Took Zoey out last night though.. played catch for a while and visited a couple of neighbors who were outside that I hadn't had a chance to talk to yet. By the time we came back I had to turn on my headlights.
  16. So sorry you're not feeling well! Yeah, good point.. it's way different when WE are sick than when THEY are sick! Very good advice for Steph and Karri. Yes, it's good to be back. Earliest we've ever gotten here and it is pretty weird... ghost town, almost! Very few have returned yet, so it's just the year 'round residents and they are SO glad to have us back!! Not too hot for me but Earl is complaining! He is still feeling bad. May have to take him to urgent care in the morning. Has EENT appt but not until Tuesday. Just came back from taking Zoey down to the pond to play catch. We had fun but she wasn't all that interested tonight. So then we took a little ride around the park. Stopped to talk to a couple of people. Now she wants to plan and I want to watch TV! We were at Walmart again today! The one in Palm Springs this time... on Ramon. With Earl not feeling well, I let him drive right by SBX in DHS without asking to stop! So I got an iced coffee at McD's. Not bad. Not really a latte, even though they call it that, but iced coffee w/SF vanilla and FF milk. And about a buck cheaper than SBX!! Don't usually like cold ones, but it was a hot day so it was good.
  17. I've been craving THOSE Skinny Cow tRUFFLES but can't figure out how to get them back to the RV in anything less than liquid form in this 100+ heat!! Yeah, sounds like Zoey's life, too!! Earl gets her up early, then ack to bed! She was so good today. Took her to Panera Bread, Walmart, and then for a scooter ride to visit at beauty shop here. Now she's sleeping again. Earl is really sick. Should probably take him to urgent care, but both of us have had 2 glasses of wine and shouldn't be driving. I think we better go in the morning because he is not getting better. I made him an appt wiith EENt for Tuesday, but he is pretty miserable and got very little sleep last night.b You are a true "jet setter'!! Colonoscopy!!! I think I'm due for one, too!! Looking forward to Vegas!!! Good points!! Me, TOO!@ 2nd day of water aerobics since we got back to the desert!! Feels good, but we do need to know our limits!
  18. Yeah, Steph... may be time to let his Dad deal with him!! Karri, so sorry about your situation. Very frustrating to have quit a job you enjoyed because of someone's vicious lies! Karla... I know you're happy to have that door in finally! So glad you have a surgery date! You're going to be so much happier with that problem taken care of! Candice... yeah, get the hip checked out! Janet.. couldn't believe we'd talked that long! Looked at my clock when we hang up! LOL! Good to be back at Sky Valley! TOPS weigh in yesterday and I was back under 200 for the first time all summer, I think! Back to water aerobics and that felt good too. Thought I'd be hurting this morning, but no sore muscles. It tired me out, though, and I didn't know if I would make it through the first 20 minutes!!:biggrin: But I got through the hour! And my back/hip didn't bother me at all. A little discomfort during the night, but that's all. I will do some walking today and see how that goes. I did walk some yesterday because my scooter quit halfway to the pool and I had to leave it and walk the rest of the way! It's acting up... the big one, not the smaller red one. Earl is sick with a cold, but also having big time sinus problems. Have to call and get him a dr appt today. He was miserable last night, and then he got nasty! So now I"m mad! He came out before 11pm to sleep in his chair so first it was "turn the TV down", then "when are you going to bed??" and his attitude was less than pleasant. He was up and down all night.. mostly sleeping in his recliner. And he is still very cranky this morning. GRRRRRRR!! It's NOT my fault!!
  19. I'll have to keep that in mind. So glad you could get away for a little while for a visit. Yes, Earl did kind of rush us, didn't he! And we didn't go that much further... a little bit past Phoenix. I googled "pacsafe" on my phone while we were driving and found several sites that sell their products. I found the phone bag and ordered one! Looks like just what I've been looking for since I bought the new phone.
  20. Yes, Eva is a jewel. Met her in Palm Springs... last winter, I think. She came over for a weekend and she and Janet came and picked me up and we went out to dinner and shopping in Palm Springs. Avoiding kissing.. yes!!! Only Zoey! She loved Eva! When our DDIL heard we were getting a dog she commented that now we were going to become crazy old dog people who take their dog EVERYWHERE!! Yep!! She hit the nail on the head! They wouldn't let me in RV park office with dog in scooter basket tonight! But provided a lady to hold her for me while I browsd!LOL Recording Biggest Loser on east coast feed... DirecTV bennie of living in RV!!! LOL Yep... dog nuts! That's ME, too!! I love my baby! Always in trouble with DH because she and I like to play throw the toys!! Balls, stuffed animals, etc. I throw, she retrieves. Then I have to fight her to get them back or she barks at me!
  21. My dog has "arms" and not front legs, too!! LOL! She uses her front paws like hands! When we play with her little squeaky football... I throw it, she brings it back. Then if I don't pay attention, she barks at me because she wants me to take it. But as soon as I reach it she clamps down on it with both her front paws. She wants me to fight her for it! We have to play this game several times a day with one toy or another but the little red football is her favorite. I am worried about Julie, too. Sent her a text message yesterday but didn't get a response. Did text w/Apples, Great and Eva though, while on the road and bored! LOL I have 2 prs of Merrill sandals and LOVE them. Very comfortable. Always looking for another pair on sale! Glad your Dad got pretty good news, Laura! Makeup... I don't use a lot, but most of mine is Clinique. We've had in & out drama a few times, but hopefully those days are long gone!! Downsizing is great defensive move for this problem!! LOL.... not much room for adult kids in a condo/RV!!! We have a very good friend... folks we visit several times a year in Three Rivers CA, no under treatment for recurrence of breast cancer, now in her pectoral muscle. Had surgery, now undergoing 6 weeks of chemo, then after a 5 week break has to do radiation 5X a week for 6 weeks... and it's in San Francisco... about a 4 hr drive. So has to stay there Mon-Fri during those weeks. She has an amazing attitude! If anyone can beat it, she can!! Her breast cancer "morphed" to a more virulent type. Yikes!! I have to restrict myself because I don't have enough room to store a lot of stuff. I ran out of shampoo just before we left WA and my big bottle was already in the RV. So I pulled out a sample bottle of something I got in a hotel somewhere. Well, I LOVED it... so I got on the internet to see where I could buy it. I found a salon less than 5 miles away in Everett that sold it, so Earl took me there and I got a huge bottle of it. I love the way it smells... Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo! Saw an Aveda salon in Buffalo and all three sisters were with me.. we were on our way to somewhere or another.. One was going in the UPS store next door... so I made them all go in and smell my favorite shampoo. Several of them bought something.. but not my Rosemary Mint!! LOL Wonder if that fire was anywhere near my nephew's house. Forgot to tell you they finally found a place. Moved in a couple of weeks ago. Twins are due in a few weeks, but think they are doing a c-section this week or next. We had such a fun shower for them on Skype!! I don't watch Dancing, but read a few reviews today and doesn't sound like anyone was too impressive!! Good visit w/Eva today. Guess what??? There is a STARBUCKS right next to the parking lot where she works!! LOL! So we parked the RV in her parking lot and she walked out to meet us. Then she and I walked over to SBX and got our coffees. Earl walked over w/Zoey to meet us. Actually, he apparently was getting impatient because he thought we were coming back with our drinks, but I sat down in a booth so we could chat a bit before we went back. Kind of funny... windows were broken out and boarded up where someone apparently tried to make it a "drive through"!!! So glad you got an unfill... you will be so much more comfortable. Didn't realize how miserable I was until after my little "episode" this past summer! We're stopped for the night in Buckeye AZ, on the west side of Phoenix. We have a little less than 250 miles to go, I think. Earl is miserable because it's TOO HOT!! DUH! Isn't this why we came south for the winter??? LOL! So, I've been told that I must take my dog to the dog run soon so she can go potty! He got out my scooter as it is a LONG walk away. This park is HUGE! So... scooter is in the shade and we will be going out soon! I can't imagine walking 3 dogs at once! Zoey learned to walk on a leash very quickly. And we prefer the harness for her. And Earl is delighted that she has figured out how to pee & poop in the desert when there is NO grass!! HAHAHA!! He thought we were going to have to go to Home Depot and buy some artificial turf and hose it off every day! But she figured it out pretty quickly. She really loved Eva and gave her lots of kisses. Her "meet and greet" involves licking both sides of your neck... if she really likes you she may stick her tongue in your ears! And then she has to circle your feet a few times. Not sure what that is about, but if she has a leash on, it's a real problem because she gets it wrapped around your legs! Okay, I'm done rambling. Looking forward to Vegas. Earl has a bad cold and I better NOT get it between now and then!!
  22. Did a little over 200 miles today I think. Stopped before 2 pm a little west of Phoenix in a town called Buckeye. Janet... I think you were off by about 100 miles yesterday because we still have a little over 200 to go. May or may not come in tomorrow. I have an optional stop planned for Quartzsite, but depends on whether or not we feel like stopping there or going on. I'll tell you what... it's HOT and Earl is complaining a LOT! He's not going to like being in DHS a few weeks early! Stopped for coffee and short visit w/Eva... other thread... this morning. There is a STARBUCKS right next to the parking lot of the building she works in. So that's where we went. Hip hurting a little again today, but walking just fine. Kind of funny... as we walked up to the SBX, part of the sidewalk was all blocked off with yellow "crime scene" type ribbon. It appears that someone tried to create a "drive through" window!! Windows broken out and all boarded up and frames pushed in. Someone was a little too anxious for their coffee!! LOL! Another funny story... I bought so much wine in Buffalo...7 bottles on our wine tour, and a case of the homemade stuff from the guy my nieces know. So Earl had the case stored on the floor next to his chair. This morning he decided that since there were just a few bottles left he'd get rid of the box. So he took the remaining bottles out of the box and laid them on their side one by one. He quickly found out that the cork had popped on one of them when we went over the mountains yesterday! Several of us bought 1 or more bottles of something called "Walleye Wobbler" at the very last winery we stopped at. By that time... 5th winery, we were "happy" and this gal at that winery was a kick... said she doesn't drink but uses all the wines her boss sells in recipes. So she was rattling off all these recipes she'd made up with all these different wines while giving us generous "samples" to try. So we were all quite taken with the WW and with the recipes she said she used it for... sauteing mushrooms, scallops, etc. So... she sold a lot of bottles of it. So a couple of days ago I get a text message from my sister, Barb asking if the WW is supposed to be "bubbly" like champagne!! I told her I didn't remember it being bubbly. So I emailed the other gals and asked them... they didn't respond. But.. that is the bottle that popped it's cork! I'm having a glass now and it's definitely not quite right. I called and talked to the gal at the winery today and told her what happened and she said the calibration was off on a couple of their scales resulting in this problem with the WW. She said it was perfectly safe to drink, just might have a little more alcohol content. But it's definitely not as tasty as what we sampled. But she's shipping me another bottle.
  23. HOORAY! That is GREAT news!! Actually... past 3 days we've had a nice pool, and last 2 days, hot tub, too. So I've done 15-20 minutes of pool exercise X3 days, and then relax in got tub and gentle jets on my spine. Back feels better and I did a lot of walking today.. well, compared to the past 2 months... a lot. I walked the dog, I walked around truck stop store in 2 different places, and back and forth to pool this afternoon. Very little pain. It's wonderful!! Food today... eggbeaters omelet, 1/2 tuna sandwich for lunch with a few sweet pickles and a few potato chip crumbs! Laughing Cow lite for snack w/rye crisp cracker... oh, yeah.. then there was the wine! We're having chicken thigh and green beans for dinner. And I'll probably have another 1/2 cup of that ice cream later, if Earl saved me any!! Steph... hugs, girl. Hope things are okay. Karri... we miss you. Karla... new door soon! YAY!! Who am I missing..... OH.. yeah, rock star, Candice! Hope you're having a great day. We gained an hour yesterday and another hour today, because AZ is NOT on daylight savings time. So we're already on Pacific time now. Made for a nice long relaxing afternoon. Heck, we've been here for hours and it's only 5 pm and we drove 250 miles today!
  24. Glad you were spared any damage from that fire! That would be scary... to have it so close! I have two Fantasy teams now because besides GS' league, which he has had for several years, his mom, DDIL, now has her own league. So I have one on each league! I missed the first draft because we were busy or on the road.. don't remember which. At any rate, I had pre-picked some players and #1 on my list was Aaron Rodgers! So guess who ended up with first pick and got Aaron Rodgers!!!:thumbup::smile: Haven't checked my points since all the games yesterday so I don't know how I'm doing right now. Okay.. if I don't copy all the posts I can't remember what anyone said!! Hoping to meet Eva tomorrow.. probably for lunch, depending on what kind of time we make. I think we're only about 100 miles away, so if we leave fairly early, we may be there around 10 a.m. Had fun with my phone this morning.. texting Apples, Great, Eva, Julie. I have come to love my new android phone and just miss the slick way my Blackberry synced my contacts and calendar!! Have not yet figured out a seamless way to do that on my new android phone. Was able to exercise a little in RV park pool and then relax in hot tub last two nights. And there is pool and hot tub here, too. So planning to go there soon. And my back is so much better today!! I walked the dog and walked around in Flying J stores X2 without much pain at all!! HOORAY!! It poured like crazy for a little while, and it's still cloudy, but the rain seems to have stopped. So maybe it's a good time to go to the pool. It's indoors, but didn't want to walk over there in the pouring rain! Actually.... Italian is probably my favorite, and then seafood after that. But... I haven't had any Mexican in a long time, so I'm craving it right now. This RV park actually has a restaurant, but it's closed!!
  25. I have to make this quick as we are getting ready to pull out! Eva.... we are in El Paso and getting an early start. I have to possible stops today depending on how DH is feeling... sinus problems, sore throat. The first stop is less than 150 miles so we'll probably be going on to the 2nd one which is in Willcox AZ about 100 miles from you. So... that will mean... coffee with you somewhere tomorrow morning. STARBUCKS??? LOL!! HAHAHA! No... is there a mall or little plaza with lots of parking room somewhere near you and not too far off I-10?? You gals are too funny... Janet's Posse and then there's Phyl's Mama Bears!! Your FB responses tickled my funny bone! Thanks for all the support. Laverne is just clueless. She didn't mean to hurt my feelings! And I didn't mean it when I said I never want to see her again!! But maybe before that I'll have some plastic surgery done!! LOL! I KNOW she's had plenty and she's so skinny! Tummy tuck!! Give me a freakin' break!! I want Mexican in Vegas!! Didn't Green Bay bury my BUffalo Bills last night??? LOL You need to get a fantasy team next year! Haven't checked my points for this wek yet, but Aaron Rodgers is one of my QBs and I know he did great yesterday!
