  1. You should be able to get a replacement, right? If you can still read the numbers on the card, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not going to make the exercise challenge either. Missed yesterday because of the bad weather. I think we're going to go down to the pool when we get back from COD. But, we'll have to fit in some extra exercise because only 3 classes next week.
  2. Hmmm.... to tell you the truth, I copied them to use in emails so I never tried to paste in to a post, but I just did and it won't work!! So much for that idea!
  3. Oh, boy! Lots of questions! That's what we're here for. Surgery will last about an hour, then recovery room, then most seem to spend the night in the hospital, but I went home late in the afternoon. Recovery time...first day or two you will be sore, but many are going back to work in a week. I took it easy for probably two weeks, but it was really a pretty easy time for me. Some say they have to sleep in a recliner for the first several days because of soreness at the port site, but I had no problem. I was just very careful in lying down. You will be on liquids for at least a week, then progress to mushy for about another week, then soft for a week and then regular food. Find a Protein drink that you like. I use EAS from costco. I also bought a Magic Bullet blender which came in very handy during those first few weeks (and you'll have to go through that routine every time you have a fill, but probably only a day or two at each stage). I used the Magic Bullet to mix my Protein drinks, to make "mush" out of things like Soups, Beans, etc. And we still use it for a lot of things... DH likes to use it to grind our coffee beans, for instance. I'm sure your doctor will have you meet with a dietician once before surgery and you'll be briefed on exactly what regime your doctor wants you to follow. You'll be having servings of about 1/2 cup 5-6 times a day. Your first fill will probably be 4-6 weeks after surgery. You need that long for healing and for the swelling to go down.
  4. Forgot you are an AOL person... yes, I'm sure you're using their browser. Once you get used to one browser, it's hard to switch. But Mozilla Firefox looks and acts a lot like Internet Explorer... except it lets me watch videos!! Funny story! Our oldest daughter did about exactly the same thing, probably about 20 yrs old, just before she got married. And I think her daughter, our granddaughter, had a similar experience a couple of years ago. NOISES IN THE NIGHT!! We have 10 grandchildren... half in their teens and then these little ones. And our little 4 yr old, Charly is ALREADY addicted to video games. He gets it from his Dad. That's the sil that works for Microsoft. They always have the latest & greatest XBox.. that's what he works on.. the video, music, etc. interface. So Charly has been around them forever. I call him our little 4 yr old geek grandson!! It was hard to shop for him for Christmas. I asked DH... what do you buy for a 4 yr old GEEK???? Is everyone else out shopping, too??? Quiet here lately.
  5. They just go away. Some months ago, I painstakingly downloaded each individual one to a "clip art" folder on my computer so I'd have them somewhere else other than on the web.
  6. I've been online, but playing on "jibjab" all night. I've been so frustrated because every time someone sends me a web-based video, like from YouTube, for instance, my browser security won't let me see it. I do my best to stay loyal to Microsoft because my son-in-law works for them, but I changed my default browser to foxfire tonight and I've been playing online with videos all night! They have some free videos that you can put your own pictures in. So I uploaded a bunch of pictures and made some funny videos.. snowball fight & Christmas Tree. Fun. Okay, I was bored!! My oldest daughter tivos amc every day and watches it when she gets home from work. First day of winter tomorrow. Enjoy your cookie making. If it's not windy we're going to go to the COD. Haven't been there yet since we got down here. Well, except for the day when they were shutting down because of the wind storm.

  8. I got it!! Now if I do it a few times I won't forget again!! I know that's the 2nd time (at least) you told me how to do it!! We didn't sleep well last night at all... the wind was really howling all night long. And in the middle of the night I was really hungry and I thought of you!! But I didn't get up because I couldn't think of anything in the refrigerator that was worth raiding! We have Santa hats on our two big rear view mirrors outside. So the next door neighbor came knocking on the door this morning with one of the hats in hand and said "Your Santa came down our chimney!" I'm surprised our satellite dish was still standing, but DH says he has the tripod mega anchored with tent stakes! Guess the wind wasn't blowing that bad on your side because when we went over to the Sam's/Wal-Mart in Rancho Mirage.... NO WIND!! Hope you're having a great time at your party this afternoon, and making EXCELLENT choices!
  9. Getting a dog was great strategy!! An admirable decision!! Good for you. Now you HAVE to walk! I wish I had something to make me go to Water aerobics when the wind is howling like it was this morning! We stayed in! Too cold and windy, so no exercise today. Besides, I'm trying to get rid of this sinus crud that is STILL hanging on!
  10. Hang in there, Kid! Soon it'll be over (THE HOLIDAYS)!! Went to Sam's today and the samples were all healthy.. I had one shrimp, two bites of pork loin, two bites of apple/chicken sausage and a small piece of a sandwich. Not too shabby and that was my lunch. We can do it! You're doing okay!
  11. Susan, Also check out christian-bandsters thread... I think it's Christians with a small "c". There was another site for Christians that sort of faded out so someone started a new one and it's been pretty active.
  12. :welcome2::welcomeB::welcome2: Susan, Glad to have you visit here. I think you will find this a site where you can vent, share your ups and downs, ask questions, etc. Hope you'll consider this one of your lapband favorite threads.
  13. Wow! Didn't know that! Makes perfect sense. Wonder why my doctor didn't tell me that!? He and his nurse practitioner acted like they didn't know where the missing 1cc went! Good explanation. Thanks for sharing that.
  14. Janet, I forgot how you said to do the multiquote thing... hit multiquote on messages you want to respond to and then what.... new reply?? Thanks!
  15. Well, I thought I'd figured out how to do the "multiquote" thing, but I guess not because it didn't work! Trying to respond to both of you. Anyway, I'm in the SW right now, live in WA state, was born in Buffalo NY, though. We are "snowbirds" living in our RV for the winter near Palm Springs. I'm transitioning from 3X to 2X. I was wearing a 28 bathing suit last season but bought a new one yesterday... size 22!! It's hard because when I'm looking at clothes, I'm still going to the 3X and above!
  16. I sure can relate to that!! I'm 5' also... one nurse even measured me at 4'11". I didn't accept that! I was 5'2" all my adult life and suddenly I'm 5'! I didn't look to see what the BMI charts say is a "normal" weight for me. I'm shooting for 150 at this point. When I get there, if I decide I want to go lower, that'll be time enough to make that decision. 128 sounds unattainable to me right now!!
  17. Yeah, it was good! And i LOVE sushi! I was looking at some at Costco yesterday. DH won't eat it, so I can't buy it. It goes bad before I can finish even one of those small Costco trays. That's one of the things I enjoy at the Morongo seafood buffet!
  18. Yep! I am BAD!! Neighbors had us over for a Christmas get-together tonight and I over did the wine a little! But I had only 2 crackers and some salmon... they have Alaska connections and they had caribou sausage, smoked salmon and salmon spread!! I got my seafood fix. We had no dinner after that.

  20. Great report on your doctor visit!! So when's your photo shoot??? He needs a lap band person to speak at his seminars. You'd be great at that! When I went last winter he had mostly bypass people speaking.
  21. You betcha!! I'll be there!! Hope to see you before that, though! GOOD DAY today!! Been gone all day! TOPS weigh in was a real boost! Down 3.6 lb this week. That's 9 lb in the last month. That's pretty okay! I've lost about 17.75% of my body weight or about 1/3 of what I need to lose. Not bad... tomorrow is my 5 month bandaversary. Bathing suit sale here at the park today and I got a new suit about 3 sizes smaller than I was wearing last winter! So we went from TOPS to breakfast, stopped back at the RV to drop off the rest of my breakfast, went to Costco, Sam's & Wal-Mart, back here and to the suit sale, then to the neighbors for a Christmas get-together, so not home at all from 8 am until 7 pm!! Now trying to catch up on email! Hope everyone had a great day! I did!

  23. Oh, my! DH grilled some salmon tonight and served it with some steamed veggies... broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I could only eat a few bites. I don't know what's up with that. I had maybe 1-2 oz. of the salmon and not even 1/4 cup of the veggies and I couldn't eat anymore. That was 30 minutes ago and I'm still really uncomfortable, burping and feeling miserable. Wonder why!?? Similar to what happens sometimes when I eat tuna fish. Of course, don't you know those are two of my favorite things!
  24. Just read this on one of the Seattle area TV/News websites. Very interesting: Stand up to lose weight 06:15 PM PST on Monday, December 17, 2007 JEAN ENERSEN / KING 5 News #main-video { background:#000; position:relative; top:0px; left:0px; height:0px; width:0px; margin:0; padding:0; visibility: hidden; } #videoPlayer { position:relative; left:1px; top:1px; margin:0; padding:0; } #loading_container { background:#fff; height:0px; width:0px; text-align:center; font-size:10px; } #loading { position:relative; top:45%; } #video-image { margin:0; padding:0; } #video-controller { margin:0; padding:0; } #shareEmail { visibility:hidden; } #showShareEmail { cursor:pointer; } #preroll_companion { height:0px; width:300px; } #flash_section { background-image: url(/sharedcontent/video/img/gred_back.jpg); text-align: center;}.text_style_1 { font-family: Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-transform: uppercase; color: #000000; font-weight: bold; font-size: 12px;}.flash_symbol_placer { padding-top: 50px; left: 40%; text-align: center;} Stand up more often Stand up to lose weight. Sit down to fatten up. "Spend less time in the chair, get up and move around as much as you can throughout the day," said physiologist Fabio Comana. Standing up stimulates a fat burning enzyme, explains Comana. "When you're up walking around, standing, puttering around or exercising, that enzyme gets activated," he said. Sitting down shuts it off. "That enzyme really responds to physical activity," said Comana. The good news is you don't have to exercise to make it work. University of Missouri researchers found daily puttering around will drop off the pounds. "If I can get a few more calories burned every few minutes, you translate that over a 12-, 14-, 16-hour day, it can make a difference of as little a 100 calories a day, that may not seem like much in one day, but it's a pound a month and 12 pounds a year," said Comana. A simple way to stand up more often at work: Instead of calling or e-mailing a co-worker, walk over to them to deliver your message in person. At home, try getting up and doing something every time there's a commercial on TV.
  25. Sounds yummy!! I would've done the same thing!
