  1. I've kind of cheated..on the first day, I ate a 575 calorie salmon meal from Olive Garden instead of the 300 cal lean cuisine. I also only had 2 Protein drinks Instead of 3 and added 1/2 banana to it. And had about a cup of cottage cheese last night to help me sleep. Ate it super slow. Going to try and get the 3rd shake in today to try and help keep me not as hungry, and drink more Water. My wt is down 8 lb since Sun. So I'm ahead of schedule.
  2. I'm on Day 2 of 7....it sucks. I'm hungry, have already cheated a little (improvised) to help me get thru it. My surgery is Monday. I'm sooo excited. I wondered today if my Liver has shrunk any too. =~}
  3. P.S. I'm supposed to have 3 protein shakes a day and added fruit isn't on the list, but I opted to try 2 shakes instead of 3 and add the fruit. (And cottage cheese) Tommorow I'll try to do 3 protein drinks and see how I do. I also bought some plain Greek yogurt to fill in for and shakes I skip.
  4. I'm ending day 2 of my "Liver Shrinking Diet" I have to be honest and say that I've been in tears most of it. I started out with my premeire protein drink nd made it into a smoothly with ice and 1/2 a banana. It took me or ever to get it down but I felt satisfied.....until about 2 hours later. So I decided to have a Cup of cottage cheese for 200 Calories instead of the 160 in protein drink and the 50 in banana. I enjoyed chewing the cottage cheese and took tiny bites practicing hw my post op eating should be. But.... About 2pm I was starving again. So I tired to fill up on water and iced tea. Chatted with friends online and just quietly cried. I mean SERIOSLY if i was ABLE to eat only 870 calories a day, then I wouldn't be 150 pounds over weight!! So hubby took me out f the house to get some hanging potted plants for the back yard. We picked him up some baked chicken and veggies etc for His next couple of meals. I asked him to just Not eat any pizza on front of me. He understands and agrees. I've been called by the anesthesia department and just waiting for hosp call tomorrow or Fri with Surgery time. I can and WILL do this. I've lost 6 pounds since Sunday so will def meet my goal of losing 10lb a week before surgery. But I gotta say....it's Not an Easy Road.
  5. I just had to chime in here. I was feeling this same way while watching the Biggest loser this past season. I realized the reason I never watched, is because I was heavier than most of the contestants. I thought I had reached my highest wt on my 50th BD @303 (4 yrs ago) But I actually got up to 325 this last Summer Today, I'm down to 306.6 and havnt been sleeved yet. I was talking to my daughter yesterday and got sad thinking that even if I lost 100lb....I'd still be obese. Please hang in there. Your wt number may be bigger than mine, but your feelings are much the same. Your success will feel the same. I'm not ever going to utter the words. "But I'm still over wt" cause I'm doing something about it....and so are you! Hugs hugs HUGS!!! P.S.my surgery is May 13th on day 2 of pre op and still excited
  6. I'm so happy for you! Thank you for sharing your pics...I'm on day 2 of pre op diet of protein drinks (that I make into shakes) and surgery is May 13th. I'm excited to see what's possible for me. Very inspiring!!
  7. I had a premier protein dink from Costco, but added 1/2 a bandanna to it. It only added 50 calories, and with the added ice in blende...made me 2 glasses of smoothie. Will have another for lunch in a few minutes. Will do a lean cuisine for dinner and probably some cottage cheese for a snack. Tomorrow will be easier I'm sure. If I see one more pizza commercial I'm gonna scream!
  8. My surgery is May 13th also, pre-op diet tomorrow. Premier Protein shakes and a Lean Cuisine..... We got this!!!
  9. I am starting my Pre-op tomorrow also. Have been trying to eat healthy the past few days. Feel I won't be able to eat as healthy today with Cinco d Mayo but promise to be better than normal... I'm excited to follow you and look forward to the mutual support. Is there a way to private message phone numbers so we can text?
  10. Thanks Guys, today is my last day before my pre-op diet. I've got a better grip on my emotions today. I have even made my post op and 1 month follow up appt. last night I dreamt I'd lost more than 10 lb this next week (which is what pre op diet is supposed to do) I was sure in my dream that it couldn't be posible..but dreaming about it, and having my husband be so supportive made me wake up Very excited! I'm gonna lose a sack of potatoes this week!! Bring on those Protein shakes!!
  11. My hubby and I just got back from a 3 day Anniversary trip to Vegas. I knew d be eating and drinking whatever I wanted, and I knew I'd gain weight. But I also knew I'd hunker down as soon as I got home and wean myself into my protein drink week. If I thought I was going to be able to forget about my weight issues a d upcoming surgery for a week....forget about it! First off, I dreaded right away trying to fasten my seatbelt. My husband had to help my pull and stretch it so I could latch it. I was almost in tears. The next time I fly, it will be different. We went to a Buffett the first night and I enjoyed shrimp, crab sushi and a laded baked potato. I sampled a few desserts, but decided they weren't worth it. The old me would have eaten all that I took. The new me left a pork chop, carrots, sushi and several desserts on the table. We did enjoy 2 Amazing steak dinners (one at Vic and Anthony's, and the other at Gordon Ramsay's. Only once did I eat to the point of being over full....I told my husband: "I won't ever have to feel like this again" I know already that I will never ever eat that much food again! I tried several times to not drink water with my meals...this and being hungry are the two things I worry about the most. I've been working on chewing to a pulp, taking smaller bites. But I'm still worried I will fail at this and be miserable because of it. Last night as I was waiting to fall asleep, I actually wondered what God would think of me "mutilating" my stomach by having it hacked off? Then the voice in my head reminded me that I've already mutilated my body by getting 150# overweight!! I'm near tears writing this. I can't believe my husband of 36 years would still find me attractive or sexy at this size. I just want to be done with this....I'm terrified that I won't be successful on this liquid diet, that my liver will be too big, or something will happen during surgery. I want to be successful....I want to do this! I deserve this...
  12. I only just saw these comments. Congrats on your post op day 1 makemyownluck... My surgery is the 13th. I'm starting to get nervous about the protein drinks and lean cuisine week. And about not being able to drink water with meals.
  13. I'm only at Neutral...I was fine and didnt even notice it til Now..Thans Alot! LOL
  14. I'm really happy that I'm not over eating to the point of being stuffed, imHonestly trying to eat less than I normally would. But I'm going thru a mental punt down of how many days before my liver shrinking diet. Dr told me 7-10 days. Anniversary trip to Vegas the 27-30 and surgery 13 days after we get home. Not a buffet lover, but I've got my eye on a few steak n lobster meals for sure...and some margaritas! Hoping to visit Gordon Ramsays at Paris hotel and enjoy me some beef Wellington.
  15. Last night I enjoyed some artisan Bread and dipping oil. I've gotten it out of my system. Didnt even finish it....
  16. Has anyone else had a strong desire to eat at certain restaurants or eat certain foods "One More Time" before your surgery. I'll be having my sleeve on May 13 and seem to be making a mental list of things I want to enjoy before hand. I'm losing a little bit of weight, watching what I eat but have certain "planned" splurges. Like French fries, bread dipped in oil cake...etc Sounds like its just carbs LOL. But it's not. I think that's what I'm craving today. I'm super excited for my surgery.
  17. They require it be done at an accredited hospital rather than a weight loss surgery center. But lots are done at NWWLS
  18. P.S. As of today, I'm back to my 12 lb loss. The scale even dipped to 308 a few times. I guess I've been doing better than I thought. Just nervous.
  19. My surgery is set for May 13th. I had been doing great since seeing Dr and Nutritionist at my first appointments. Despite severe back and knee pain, I was going to the gym a couple times a week, recording what I ate on My Fitness Pal...etc. but after eating a "normal" Easter dinner, I gained 6 of the 12 pounds that I had lost, I was devastated. I'm now on some strange last chance eating fixatin. I'm not over eating...not gaining. But I feel like I need to say goodbye for awhile to some of my favorite foods. Im also trying to eat slower, chew more and not drink water. Im gona be honest and tell you im nervous and doubting my ability to e happy post op with my decision Anyone else struggling with this.
  20. I called the hosp back and completed my registration. My Endoscopy is done and just awaiting biopsy results. I told 2 more people about the surgery I'm having. I guess im ready?! I've Been reading post about training yourself to chew food slowly and not guzzle water. I feel like this may be the hardest part. I'm almost 55 and am going to have to re-train myself on how to eat. I'm already looking ahead to a couple of post op events I'll be at nd trying to figure out what I'll eat and if I'll feel strange going out to dinner and not ordering anything? Well be in Seattle with our daughter nd her family when they come home from Africa as missionaries. I'll only be 5 weeks post op. there will be eating out, and a Mariners baseball game.. I've just finished 2 weeks of not writing down what I eat, or going to the gym..it's like I've had a bit of grieving or depression over my upcoming surgery and changes I'm going to have to make. I had lost 12 pounds in the past 2 months and then gained 4 pounds after eating a "normal" amount of food on Easter Sunday. The 4 pounds turned into 6 and i just gave up trying. My husband has been doing a 12 week Golds Gym challenge and as lost almost 40 pounds. He now weighs less than me for the first time in our 36 marriage. I AM very proud of him, but burning with jealous rage at the same time. He had planned on doing the sleeve also, but was in the middle of this challenge. He just needs labs, endoscopy and surgical clearance. I didn't want to wait for him to finish the challenge, so am proceeding without him. I'm back on track the past few days and have lost 2 of the 6 pounds. I'm so excited for this surgery. I have such issues with being hungry. I hope I'm not one of the few who still struggle with that post op. I'm ready for a change. I'm ready to get from Here to There....
  21. My date is May 13th. We can tavel this adventure together...
  22. I'm going to have sleeve surgery on May 13th with dr Montgomery with NWWLS. It will be done at Evergreen hosp per my insurance request. I'm excited and nervous and looking for any helpful information I can find. So far this site has been Great!
  23. I've only been telling a few close friends one by one. I havnt told my mom or mother in law. And havnt told one of my daughters until it gets closer as she's a worry wart and in nursing school. Only one of my siblings knows, he had the sleeve in Nov. it's easy for me as all my family lives in different states. I'm a nurse and embarrassed, angry, ashamed that I've gained so much wt. I feel like a hypocrite talking to patients about their high cholesterol and high B/P when I myself suffer from the same problems. So I will answer questions honestly when asked. "How have you been losing wt?" I'll simply tell them; "the old fashioned way, I'm eating less!" In all sincerity, it's getting easier to share as my surgery date is getting closer and I'm getting more excited...it seems I'm becoming less ashamed and more empowered. This certainly isn't an "easy way out" it's pretty darn drastic and I'm worth it!
