  1. Yaaaaaay!! I joined the crew!! Very sleepy so I'll keep this short. No gas pain, or pain... I don't think?? But I am a bit nauseous and dry heaving occasionally. It's manageable. Surgery was at 4:30 it's now 9 my time and feeling prety great! (all things considered) I'll keep ya posted. Lauraven - happy BD to your daughter. I now share a kind of birthday with her! haha....!
  2. Thank you everyone!! Still playing the waiting game right now, but I'm on deck, so hopefully within the next hour or so we'll get the party started!! Ready to do this thang!!!!!!!
  3. Well.. it's finally here! Day of surgery. I go to the hospital at 11am and will hopefully be in by around 2. Not really sure what to expect, but I'll try to keep you posted when I'm 'coherent' again! I'm nervous, but not as bad as I have been before. I dreamt I accidentally ate chips and salsa before surgery, so I was actually relieved when I woke up! Haha... have a good day everyone and I'm looking forward to joining the sleeve family SOON!
  4. Flying out tomorrow! May 15 for me, but I'll be thinking of you and hoping we all sail through the recoveries! Eeeep!!! it's happening!!
  5. Awesome!!! I'm flying out tomorrow morning and Wednesday is the big day!!
  6. I totally stressed and ate a TON leading up to the 2 weeks before surgery. BUT I havent cheated once on the liquid phase because I did a lot of reading and recognize that shrinking your liver is SUPER important for a good, safe outcome. My surgery is in 2 days (OMG....) I felt very emotional today and wanted to stuff my face, but it's good practice for after surgery and ending the comfort eating cycle. Good luck!! Try to just breathe and visualize positive things - like your hot new bod!!! It's been helping me get through. (oh, as well as hangin out on this forum.) Add on: Also, when it finally CLICKED that I'd still be able to eat foods I love again at some point (of course in moderation, but that's the POINT) I felt a lot more at peace.
  7. I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks, full fluids for 2 weeks, 2 weeks for purée and 2 weeks soft. It seems like overkill to me, esp with people eating 4 days post op. but whatev. I'll do as I'm told...
  8. I'm half relieved and half worried. I'm relieved to know that at some point I'll be able to eat a 'normal' portion of food. (not just a few table spoons) but also worried that eventually I might be able to eat almost as much as I did before. I know it's a psychological process too, so hoping THAT gets sorted out prior to my ability to eat a lot again.
  9. This is helpful, as you said to, come to terms with. Binging is dangerous and obviously leads to weight gain. I just need to find ways to cope and resist the urge post-sleeve so that I don't to real damage as well. Thank you for sharing the truth.
  10. After you've had surgery, do you still feel the need to fill a never ending void?? At a buffet... What happens when you want to taste a bit of everything! Are you dissapointed when you're full after only 2 bites? Side note: I'm on day 1 of clear liquids! This time next week I'll be part of the club!!!! But for now, I still dream of stuffing my face..... Haha!
  11. There doesn't seem to be any consistent information out there. We know that 1 in 100,000 people die in skydiving accidents. 18 per 100,000 people die in car accidents with South-East Asia and Africa having the highest rates. Can anyone tell me the risks/ statistics of this surgery to put in in perspective??
  12. I hear you. I'm wide awake and breathing through a panic attack right now. It's a nightly occurrence since I decided to go ahead with this, and I'm out of Ativan. 10 more days to go... I'm scared outta my MIND!!! I read the complications, and there doesn't seem to be ANY consistent information online. My surgeon has good stats, I'm just begging the heavens that I am one of the lucky ones! Not really sure what else to do.....
  13. Glad to hear!! Keep us posted !! My date is coming soon and I'm so scared!!!!!!! Sounds like hopefully it's not such a big deal!! Fingers crossed!!!
  14. Does it get easier after surgery?? I won't be hungry right away. Right?
  15. So hungry... just started a new thread on this topic too... Any help is appreciated!!! Someone talk me off the ledge.... please.... I'm usually a happy, friendly person and I've been picking fights all day with people cause I'M HUNGRY. My super skinny girlfriend was mad at me, (cause I've been a JERK all day) so she sat on the couch and ate junk food to gloat....haha... I deserved it, but I really need a sollution for this hunger...!!
  16. Day 3 full fluids. I'm so hungry I'm angry. I'm hangry! 3 Protien shakes per day plus liquid soups, water, juice, etc. am I not drinking enough?? I gulp water to get rid of my grumbling tummy and hanger pains but it only lasts a few minutes. Please help me... tell me this is easier after the surgery....next week is clear liquids only...I'm probably gonna get dumped by my partner cause I've been so miserable.....I just wanna cry...and eat a bowl of cereal.
  17. I'm on day 3 of full fluids (next week is clear fluids) and I am CRASHING. Headaches, hunger, cravings, food dreams and I'm extremely tired.... Thank you for your motivational words. I needed this, and I'm glad to hear that it gets easier.
  18. I'M SO HUNGRY!!! End of day 2 preop liquid diet and I'm laying in bed SO hungry!!!! Hoping to just sleep and maybe the hunger will go away? My stomach is growling and water doesn't cut it. Was everyone else this hungry?????
  19. Don't cheat on the liquid phase! Here's why: http://weightlossforever.web13.hubspot.com/blog/bid/226315/Will-one-piece-of-pizza-ruin-my-weight-loss-surgery-prep
  20. Day ONE liquid pre op!!! Woo woo!! I taste-tested a tiny amount of a bunch of shakes to see which tasted better with water or milk. I'm chillin out with a piña colada smoothie for supper! Yeahyado!!
  21. Ok, so how big of a deal is the surgery? Really. Is it a really big deal, or like... a medium big deal? I realize it means life changes, but is it really really the worst thing and hardest thing, ever??
