It's so easy to get discouraged
At my heaviest I was 560. The day of surgery I was 530. After making up my mind that this time I was going to go through with it (I had attempted this in 2010 and 2011,) I told a select few friends and family. Most we're supportive, yet later most of them asked me why didn't I want to try diet and exercise...apply to be on the biggest loser...extreme weightloss...get a person trainer. It hit me hard that no one realized I'd tried things all of my life and had short term success, but then life hit me again. Now, I think they were foolish to ask about diet and exercise because hey had no idea how much I weighed. Being big all of my life I was able to still be active and camouflage the weight. When you think of almost 575, you imagine someone that is bed ridden and needing assistance around the clock. You don't imagine someone with 3 degrees, working in upper management that also works 14-16 hours a day. I know realize that they had no clue. But also in the time after I announced I'd be having surgery, people asked how much did I want to lose or my goal weight. I never gave an answer because I didn't want to have to think about how much weight I'd truly need to lose. For my height, I should be around 180-190...that means I need to lose 350 lbs. THREE HUNDRED and FIFTY POUNDS....I know that anything is doable, but facing the actual reality of it...wouldn't anyone be a little discouraged? I do plan to give this my all and I know that this trip is going to take a while, but I finally feel like I'm ready. Sent from my iPad using VST

Anyone who has had Cigna who had sleeve this year?
Cigna is a stickler for the details. I was denied on my first round because my 3 month span with the NUT was only 89 days and they wanted to see 90 (thanks feb for being 28 days.) I met with my NUT immediately, they resubmitted, and I was approved days later. I was sleeved 5/23 Sent from my iPad using VST

Steri strips
My dr told me I could remove my steri strips 3 days post op. So, 4 days post op I started taking one off and I saw some of my belly fat peeking around the incision. It wasn't infected, just looked gross so I stopped. When did everyone else remove their strips or did y'all wait until they fell off? Sent from my iPad using VST

Pre-Op Shave
I'm 6 days post op. I didn't think anything about getting shaved until I saw this post. I look at my incisions at least 10 times a day...however it wasn't until today that I realized they shaved me. I guess that could explain the itching Sent from my iPad using VST

Post op itching
After getting sleeved my whole belly started itching. Days 2-3 my incisions started itching like crazy. I googled and everyone says that's part of the normal healing process. Now, my whole body itches from my head to my feet. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Sent from my iPhone using VST

protein drinks, and sleeping on my belly
I was sleeved on the 23rd. I feel your pain with the shakes. I'm on my 4th brand already lol. You can start sleeping on your stomach when it feels comfortable. Some are able to do it the next day and some take a week or 2 weeks to feel comfortable doing it. I slept on mine sat night and woke up an hour later coughing stomach acid. I tried again last night but woke up 2 hours later in pain so I'll give it a few more days before I try it again. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST

is it safe to sleep on my stomach
I tried to sleep on my stomach again last night. I lasted for 2 hours. Epic fail...now I'm more sore than I've ever been. To top it off, my dog greeted me good morning by jumping and landing right on top of my middle incision. Eh. My dr said I can start working out at 3-4 weeks, but everyone can start off by walking immediately. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Atlanta,ga?
I didn't convert from a lapband...but have you been to one of the classes at emory jc that dr Johnson and dr hart have? After I went, I got a call like 2 days later to schedule an appointment. I started this process quite a few times in the past, but I can honestly say that both dr Johnson and dr hart care and they want people to physically be at their best in the end. It's been a pleasure dealing with both of them. Sent from my iPhone using VST

May 23 sleevers?
Yep I'm super sore too! But it's like night and day how much better I feel today compared to Thursday & Friday. I'm off for 6 weeks only because I work for a college...I'm usually off 6-8 weeks each summer, so I purposely scheduled to have my surgery during my first week off. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Protein ideas?
I'm using body fortress. It's pretty good. Even their chocolate is good (I hate chocolate anything). I've also tried unjury and their stuff is tasty too. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using VST
