Pain On My Left Side
I've been dealing with the same thing, just like you described. It's been going on for about 4 days now, and I'm 11 days post-op. The doctor told me that it is instestinal spasmatic episodes that sometimes come with the healing process. It seems like not a lot of people have this but there are enough to make it not alarming. We are the unlucky few, apparently. My pains were the sharpest the first two days that this started up, but now they are workable. It hurts but not enough to immobilize me like the first couple of days. My doctor said it should eventually go away, as I continue to heal.

I cannot believe what I'm doing...don't I get it?
I cannot rationalize in my mind how this would be good for anyone. Do you have any science behind this number of calories? This low number, to me, seems like something that an anorexic would consume. I've never seen a diet plan that was this low in calories. Do you know why it is so little? Thanks for your help!!

Thanks everyone! I feel more centered and empowered by your support, with each comment I read. I have not been getting in enought Water, which may be what is causing some of my cravings, so I'm going to get onto that starting right now.

I cannot believe what I'm doing...don't I get it?
Okay, I threw the rest of the bag away. Why did this not occur to me before? I not only threw them away but I soaked them in dirty Water, crumpled them up, and then threw them away. No more messing around!! liquids only, for the next three days. No excuses! I guess I thought this was going to be easier than it turned out to be. I've read many posts where people say that people are not even hungry post-op and their tastes have really changed. Well, I am still craving most all of the same junk, but it still remains to be seen if I still enjoy the same stuff. Right now, it's all these craving in my head, fueled by the idea that I'm not getting enough calories. I've heard people say that post-op they shoot for about 800 calories a day, but in my mind that is way too low. I think that I should be eating between 1,200 and 1,500 calories each day, to lose weight steadily but not too fast. It's all just excuses, I suppose. Thanks everyone for your support. Please keep the suggestions coming. I need all I can get. I have to beat this! Adriana

I cannot believe what I'm doing...don't I get it?
Hi Sleevers, I am in need of some tough love. I am probably one of the very few that has fallen off the wagon so early on. I am only 11 days post-op and I've already cheated. Today, I had such a giant craving for some bread that I drove down to Trader Joes and bought myself some rolls. My only saving grace, I think, is that I chose the rolls that seemed the healthiest because one roll had 10 grams of Protein and 5 grams of Fiber. Well, I took those puppies home and ate one with a small bowl of creamy tomato and bell pepper Soup. I did not eat it all at once, as it would not fit, but I did manage to eat it. It did feel somewhat weird in my stomach for a bit but it do not come back up or cause me pain. What is wrong with me? Why am I already messing up? I am supposed to be on full liquids for 3 more days and then transition to pureed foods, but I'm already eating bread. I paid for the surgery myself, so I was able to get it very quickly and without any hassel. I did not have to see a nutritionist or lose weight to qualify or anything. Maybe this is why I am being so weak, so early on. I've already dropped a total of 15 pounds since starting my 7 day pre-op diet, and I'm feeling good about how I look. This might also be why I'm veering from my path, or maybe I'm subconsciously afraid to get thin, or something. I don't know what is wrong with me, but if I don't straighten myself out now, then I can be sure that more and more cheating will soon come. Does anyone have any good words for me? I appreciate your help and support. Adriana

Swallowing pains n stomach pains
I'm on day 8 post-op and I really started to feel more like myself yesterday. I've heard from others that you feel better in about a week and that ended up true for me. I am sitting here dring my protein shake with no problem, unlike the first few days post-op.

Intestinal Pain During 1st Week Post-Op
Well, I am happy to report that it is almost noon where I'm at and the pain still seems to be less than yesterday. I've used an ACE bandage to compress my trunk area and that has helped. I will run out soon and get a waist compression garment. I'm sorry to hear that your are still having pains at 24 days out, d mixon. I hope it goes away soon for you. My first sharp pain happened when I was bending forward for something, so maybe the bending is some kind of trigger and the compressing helps to keep the stomach area in place when bending. Well, my moral is sorta lifted because I know there are at least three of us, but the uncertainty of how much longer this will go on does make me nervous. Thanks for the information.

Intestinal Pain During 1st Week Post-Op
Thanks, MOBD!! I feel a bit better because I know I'm not the only one, but I feel worried that I will be this for many more days to come...16 days...yikes!! I feel sure that this will all be worth it in the end, but I was so hoping to get away with not having too much pain in the healing process. I will try the comptression garment. Thanks for your input! Let me know if the Ibuprofen helps.

Intestinal Pain During 1st Week Post-Op
Hi Sleevers, I am a newbie, and I am in need of some suggestions/guidance/reassurance. As of day 4 post-op, I've been dealing with some serious pain on my left side. The pain is like as sharp stabbing pain that causes me to almost feel like I cannot breath. It comes and goes out of nowhere, and sometimes sticks around for half-an hour at a time. It usually gets worse when I consume something, but might even appear when nothing has been consumed. Other than this terrible pain that I've been dealing with for the last three days, I feel good. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I've emailed my doctor and he told me that I am having intestinal spasmatic episodes, like IBS, and that it should go away as I continue to heal. Did anyone else have this? If so, how long did it last and what did you do to combat the pains? Today is my 3rd day with these pains and, maybe it's just my imagination, but they seem to be less sharp. Fingers crossed this be my last day like this... Thanks for your help!!! Adriana

All i want is a salad
Ooh! salad sounds so good. I am just one week post op, which means that I'm on liquids. Anything sounds good. I'm glad to hear that salad did not get the runs or nausea or anything like that, BunnyK. This gives me hope!
