  1. Thanks everyone for the responses. I found it interesting bc I've heard ppl say they were treated differently bc of their weight. I have never felt I have, but that may also be bc I've never paid attention to it. I've always been overweight so I assume I wouldn't notice a difference.. I think lowest was 180 a couple years ago, but that felt shortly lived haha.
  2. Hi everyone! Im pre-op and I was talking to my coworker today about attention. She thinks people will probably act differently towards me after I lose weight. This prompted me to ask the question here: Has anyone noticed that they are treated differently vs before surgery when you were heavier? If so, how? I thought this was interesting and wanted to hear ppls input. Please share!
  3. I'm September 25th. I'm so excited! It's 2 months away tho Ahhhh! I could have gotten August but my dr is booked all the way up to the end of September! The anticipation is going to drive me nuts!
  4. I'm sept 25th! congrats to u on ur monitor diet completion!!
  5. U will do great! I was worried too, but went smoothly.
  6. Thank u guys. I actually got the date first lol. I was worried I was being too presumptuous but my dr scheduled the surgery before approval. I'm so ecstatic.
  7. Thank you!! Yes I do! I'm not sure what it will consist of. I think it is a low carb low fat type of diet for 2 weeks prior. I have a final dietician appt. in several weeks to get me set up with that.
  8. Carefirst Bluechoice. I was thinking id have to wait for weeks!
  9. Official - my excitement has caused my spelling to suffer...
  10. My insurance approved my surgery today! Crazy thing is the dr office submitted it yesterday. Loved the quick turn around! My surgery is set for September 25th! It's such a surreal feeling now that I've had the blessing of the insurance gods! I'm so excited!
  11. My scheduled date is September 25th.... ahhhh!
  12. Hey I too have twins. They r three and my reason too. I developed some medical issues while pregnant with them and thought I wasn't even going to be around for them, that scared me. Since then I've been trying all I can and then I found out some coworkers had WLS done and I was like this may be an option. After extensive research I'm very comfortable and confident with this option. This forum is amazing too. I don't post as often as I'd like, but just reading others comments are wonderful. I wish u luck and congrats in the twins. They can be such a handful, but can't imagine it any other way
  13. So next week the family and I are heading to... the beach! This is a dreaded location for me in all my chunkidom. I'm pretty hard on myself with my weight and have noticed that after my twin monsters were born and my thyroid went on sabbatical - it has gotten even worse. I don't remember hitting 280.0 but I did. Right now I'm at 261.0. I was able to get down to 230.0 last year with the Atkins style approach which I loved tremendously, but the second u eyed that lonely little bun in all it's enriched white carb yumminess u gained 5 back. Evidently my body doesn't believe in a carb grace period and BAM up the weight elevator I went. Anyways I just tried my "cute" swimsuit on and I use the term "cute" with regards to the outfit, not it being on me lol in my opinion and man o man. What happened? Does anyone just look in the mirror and go "What happened here? Where were u during this?" That's me now. I however felt hopeful - I got my surgery date scheduled, Sept 25 - longs ways off but my dr is booked til then. So my horrid moment of looking at myself in the mirror just now didn't cause me to break into tears. I was able to smile and tell myself that it's great I know I need to do better and I'm taking the steps in order to get there so I can be here for my girls. They are my reason for this. I want to be here longer and I don't want them growing up and mommy avoiding pictures, learning ridiculous eating habits or catching mommy in a never ending weight struggle. I don't want that to be an influence on them or to grow up watching their mother struggle through that. Side note - was watching a Lifetime movie Stalker at 17 (such a junkie I am) they mentioned that the father was so happy and scared at the same time his sdauther was born and when asked y he replied,"Because everything I do now matters." And u know, that is some true stuff right there Enough rambling!! ????
  14. I'm scheduled for Sept 25 - I'm really hoping that ill only need 1 week off. I have a desk job. I hope u have a speedy recovery when ur time comes!!!
  15. Awesome thanks for the response. could u inbox me who u saw by chance? Right now I have an appt set up, but want to look around more
  16. Hello!! I was wondering if anyone has had their psych consult in the Annapolis, MD or nearby area and how'd it go? I've seen some do a multi choice, questionnaire, or just one on one talking. Plus did your insurance cover or out of pocket? Thanks in advance. I have most things completed and am very excited to get myself a scheduled date.
  17. Hi Kelly! Welcome! I'm pretty new too. I just scheduled a consult with Dr. Gandsas for May 2nd. I'm excited - ppl have said great things about him. I hope all goes well for you over there on the Eastern Shore!
  18. Hey I'm in Annapolis MD. I am in the beginning stages of starting this process. Where in Annapolis did you go? Are you happy with that place? I'd be interested in checking them out!!
  19. Hey! I'm in MD as well. I just went for my consult today to start figuring myself out. I have been researching this stuff like crazy. I can understand where you are coming from. I have only told 3 ppl and it's not due to embarrassment, it's just I want to make this decision on my own. This is my first post and got excited to see a MD'er! I'm a nerd!
