Support System
I only told my immediate family, a bestfriend and my aunt who recommended my surgeon. All have been great support for me. I told my oldest brother and he doesnt want me to get it. The thing with family is that they love you and care and worry so what seems "unsupportive" is them putting their unwanted 2 cents in. I have a large, close family and for all of them to know, oh my god, all of the explaining and reasoning i would have to do! Someone told me that this decision is YOUR decision and NO ONE elses. So its important that the people who know what your going through, know your having it so they can support you and be your biggest cheerleaders during your journey.

liquor
I believe beer, or anything with carbonation can make the sleeve stretch over time if abused.

afraid of excess skin. any tips?
I watched a really disturbing video on YouTube.. so please avoid going on there! In one of the articles it said to up the cal intake a day to make sure you only lose 1-2lbs a week so your body gets "used" to it.

Why are people so nosy?
You are most certainly right! I tend to be a people-pleaser, but I am so sick of letting it get to me. Right now, I have to think about me for once. Thank you for positive thoughts!

Why are people so nosy?
When you think family will support you and have your back and be so happy for you and then don't... that truly blows my mind! I've been so close with my brother AND his wife for so long that I'm so hurt by their reactions but at the same time I'm like "ha-ha". I get more support from my bestfriend than my own brother. And I do have to agree with you that it is jealousy! A couple of days ago I was so on the fence about even doing this surgery that now I realize I was following the opinions of people who were jealous that I was getting it. I always think back to when I was in highschool and one of my "friends" said to another "friend", "If Lisa was skinny I would be really jealous of her." & this is where my mind goes when people question my ability if I can do it myself. Unfortunately, there are people that really don't want to see you happy or see you succeed, and it's sad that those people you thought would be strangers, no one you really care about, turn out to be family.

- Long Island sleevers?
My name is Lisa, im having surgery March 26 th, just curious if theres anyone by me thats getting it done, maybe for local support!- Why are people so nosy?
Im scheduled to have my surgery March 26th (im soooo excited & nervous!). I had to tell my boss i was going to have surgery and all of a sudden my workplace knew about it and i felt i needed to explain myself too them on why i needed it! It's no ones business but mine! And in regards to family- my mom, dad, sister and brother know & my other brother just found out and is MAD at me! ( Hes heavy himself) him and his wife aren't supporting me and want to know why i cant do it myself. Again, no ones business! They are what i like to call " haters ". Dont hate on me because i decided to take a step and help myself! Thanks for letting me vent... Anyone else going through similar issues?- Any March Sleevers?
Mine is March 26th and im freaking out! I can only imagine what your feeling. Good luck to you and i hope you have a speedy recovery!- I'm I mean?
I dont think your mean at all. In fact, I think we're well deserving to say "hey, f**k you." And then you go find another guy.- Any Smokers/Ex-Smokers?
I just have a question regarding smoking after the surgery. Did anyone have problems afterwards, or decided to quit after? I'm a smoker and finding it really difficult to quit, so I'm just curious. And please, if you're planning to be rude, do not comment. This post is intended for the open-minded.- help! less than 3 weeks away from surgery, STILL undecided!
Thank you so much. you definitely shed some light on alot of things. your right, it is minor things getting in the way of the big picture.- help! less than 3 weeks away from surgery, STILL undecided!
I made the decision to get sleeved in January, but the sooner the surgery is getting, the more I'm having doubts! I was so confident in my decision that now all I can think about is things I'll be missing. Like all my favorite foods & alcohol, and not being able to drink with my meal. Are these just simple pleasures I can give up? How did everyone else deal with it? I just want to know if its worth all of that, I'm confused if its my "fatness" coming out thinking of these things... I've been heavy my entire life so I really don't know any different. Is it worth it?- Help! Less than 3 weeks away & STILL undecided!
yeah! and whats even worse is that my dad, fully supports any decision i make but he really is worried about how i'm going to be after, if i'll regret it or become unhappy. so i'm all confused. he never voices his opinion, so it kinda means alot- Help! Less than 3 weeks away & STILL undecided!
