  6. I sort of had the same experience... I was more anxious then nervous. The more appointments I went to the better I got. After that I was excited. That doesn't mean I wasn't ever nervous! My date is March 26th and I did alot of back and forth with the idea of going through with it. My consult with my DR put my mind at ease and made me excited but it also blew my mind like "I'm doing this?!" It takes a bit to get used to the idea but eventually it'll get easier. At the consult my doc told me to start scheduling my preop appointments and before I left her office they scheduled me with all of their appointments. So bascially I had appointments once a week for 2 months! It was an exciting ride for me. Whatever your feeling is normal! Good luck to you!

This is very harsh! I am a former smoker and I feel that if someone is truly looking to be helped and want to stop, then your input is unnecessary: 1. You don't know what its like 2. Being insensitive I never open my mouth on this board but this is so out of line for you to tell someone else that they are not ready. Shame on you
  8. Thank you to everyone who replied to my topic! Each of you truly helped me in some way in making a decision! I'm very excited to say that I am getting the surgery on March 26th and I couldn't be happier! I look foward to my new lease on life :-) If anyone else is considering it, I found out that its okay to not know... this is a huge deal. But if an oppurtunity presents itself, take it! Good luck to everyone! Lisa
  9. LMAO! "I like the feeling of being hungry about as much as the feeling of cutting my right arm off with a butter knife!" -> im in total agreement with this! Honestly I thought i was SO prepared but you never are prepared as you think! With the exception of yesterday, day 2 is going smoothly and I'm not as hungry as I was! I think you get used to it as you go its just that the first day is rough on your body & mind. Cooking for others: I made my 2 nephews this morning: bacon, eggs & potatoes. It was a little difficult, but I pictured myself on a beach in a bikini, running! WHATEVER works right?! Hahaha! My chef has an open kitchen and is always taking requests! (I looooove him) He actually said to me today that when I'm ready to start eating solids he'll specially cook for me! Gotta love this man! Good luck when you start your preop diet! you will be cranky and tired but just look foward to the end result & keep in your mind that you NEED to lose some weight so your surgery will go better! its always nice to get a head start on weight loss
  10. I would like to address the issue with the MA. I was going to school to be that and what she did was horrible to you!! I could never imagine doing that to my patients. Honestly the doctors scale is a little tricky and that MA might not have gotten the correct numbers! Ugh! I'm sorry it just makes me mad that she upset you like that! And another thing- If that would have happened to me, I would have reacted exactly the way you did! Lol! I'm like that... I'll say "You know what, I don't even give a sh*t!" and I'll eat everything in sight and regret it later. Thats just me. I love how you say "you gotta feed a big girl or we turn into monsters" thats the funniest thing because its so true!! Last night when I was at work I was so cranky to everyone it was terrible! See, I can go hours without eating but now that I have to constantly think about the next time I have to eat is so frustrating because I'm 10x hungier! I can't wait to feel the feeling of not being hungry!
  11. So today was my very first day of my pre-op diet, and I did exceptionally well... except for the fact that I have not been approved by my insu company & will find out tommorow or the next morning. I called my DRs office and asked when I would be approved and she told me that then said, "Okay so start your pre-op diet tomorrow." and i said,"Um i already started." I was already half way through my day! So with that in mind, I went to work. I work at a really reallllllly good catering hall and as soon as I walk into the kitchen to clock in BOOM! I smell everything. Sooooo as I go through my night, I develop a headache, I'm cranky as anything and I'm feeling weak. So I asked the chef for my favorite chicken dish, and I ate ALL of it. And after I even got a glass of soda (I haven't had soda for 2 weeks)! So basically, that little thing my doc said,"Start tommorrow..." was in the back of my mind and now I have an excuse to eat. The reason why I'm in this situation! Anyone else go through this? I honestly thought the pre op diet would be soooo easy but its freakin' hard!
  12. My insurance company covers the surgery, but I still awaiting approval. My surgery is March 26th & I start my pre-op diet on March 19th. I won't know if im approved until mon/tue. The wait is killlllllllllllling me! What if I did all this work and spent all this money on doctor visits & I don't get approved?? About 2 weeks ago, my surgeons office called me and said that they have to schedule all of their patients surgeries as soon as they can with the same insurance as mine because the company has to "reevaluate" bariatric surgery & its guidelines (they need to go into negotiations, which will take about a 6 months to a year) so they want all of us to go in ASAP. I was expecting to have it in late April but got pushed end of March! Now i have to wait for approval. I don't want to get my hopes up!! Im getting anxiety about this. Any kind words? Anyone had the same experience/in the same boat as me?
  13. Im not on that diet but it sounds like you need to eat something! Chicken or fish should be good. You can also google low calorie meals (they exist!). Did your doctor or nutrionist give you literature for your pre op diet on what to eat? My nut says brkfast snack lunch snack dinner, to keep your energy up and not getting sick. Maybe you should give them a call for more specific instructions. I hope everything works well for you! Good luck
  14. Thank you so much! Ill be calling my doc in the morning to ask. Very helpful!
  15. Im going on my preop diet fairly soon and i dont want to get optifast because of my DRs price. Are their any alternatives that i can do? Any suggestions will be very helpful!
  16. Good to know! Thank you
