  1. I am a week out from surgery and my nutritionist and surgeon both want me to focus on getting Protein from shakes and powders, as well as taking my Vitamins. I do track on MyFitnessPal, and I am about 600 calories right now. I will work up to about 800. The low calorie diet (from the nutrition guides I've read) is safe to maintain for a period of 6-9 months, then one should begin increasing intake to form a 3500-7000 caloric deficit weekly to lose 1-2 pounds a week. By combining low fat, low carb, low calorie, and high protein, the body is losing fat and repairing itself without causing damage to muscle groups, including the heart. The protein needs to come mainly from a readily available source, such as easily digested meats, soy, and whey protein. Anorexia is different because those with eating disorders do not focus on healthful, nutritious eating. They lose muscle mass quickly because there is little readily available protein for the body. This is in general, not a rule. I hope this proves helpful. I have done a lot of research on the topic, but am by no means an expert, obviously.
  2. Alexis, I am from Prairieville, Louisiana. We have a big baseball facility opening up in Hammond, though, so we spend a good bit of time there! I spent a summer in upstate NY and portaged canoes through the Finger Lakes! It was amazing. One of my goals is to get back into Water sports. I left those behind after gaining a lot with my first child. Then can't the twins, and my body was shot to hell. Lol
  3. Sarah, I'm thankful you are okay. I am from Prairieville, Louisiana, which is very close to Hammond. I spent a summer week portaging canoes around the Finger Lakes when I was 20! Happy Easter, y'all! ~ Jolie
  4. Yep. Definitely understand how foodies become alcoholics. Gonna have to watch that one and inform my mom and fiancé of the risk so I don't become a drunken pirate.
  5. Armadillo liquefies to amaretto? Wow. I liked those all soured up n junk. Seriously. Your drunk is gone that quickly? Wow. I understand how people get crossover addictions. Is there a hangover?
  6. Is it similar to crawfish or crab? How do you peel that sucker's shell off?
  7. Dude! I just posted almost the exact same thing! This whole chocolate reduces down to a liquid is total bs. It should be solid. Friggen addictive sugar and junk.
  8. I started justifying a Hershey Kiss today. It reduces to a liquid, which is the rule for me right now. Le sigh. This sh*t is hard. I spit it back out. Well, except the part that already melted. I also considered chewing and spitting a grilled chicken bite. Le sigh again. I need to sleep and start over tomorrow.
  9. I am day 6 and started to justify chocolate. Seriously. It reduces to a liquid, which is my rule for right now. I've lost my mind. You're not alone, but don't do it again, k? I won't, either. Deal.
  10. @Laura: I have no shame. I tried to purée the chicken today with broth. Failed to make it look like Soup, but I tried. @Ms.AntiBand: thanks, I may try that, but you're right. I don't want the added sugar. @Sneed: that sounds awesome! I never would have thought of it, but I will be buying sugar-free Jello powder tomorrow!
  11. How fun was that!?!?! Awesome!
  12. Kinda what I figured. Dang. That was in the freezer and starting to sound good while my family has my dad's best BBQ. Liquids suck. Maybe I can blend chicken...lol. This, too, shall pass, and I will be happy I did it. Thanks, Laura.
  13. I just made a protein smoothie with EAS Myoplex, chocolate PB2, Greek yogurt, and two strawberries. I puréed the berries first, then blended the rest of the ingredients. Is it okay for the full liquids stage? I can still feel a few of the strawberry seeds. My sleeve manual doesn't say anything about it.
  14. Have you tried other types? I like Isopure mixed 1/2 with Crystal Lite. I also have blended PB2 with some chocolate shakes I didn't like and those worked well.
  15. Hey, y'all! Sleeved 3/25, so still on full liquids. I do get dizzy and tired easily, but otherwise, it's been a breeze. I'm down 13 pounds already and feel pretty much normal. I am going back to work (I teach 8th grade English) Tuesday. I'm ready to get of full liquids already, but I understand the importance of them. No leaks! Tomorrow is Easter mass and I really don't want to go. People in my little town talk a lot and I've already been the Hester a time or two. Oh well. Let them eat cake. (Lol)
  16. Congratulations! I am so so so happy for you you look wonderful.
  17. Today I have the side pain, too. What can you take for the migraine? I think I'd open my pain med bottle again.
  18. Today is the first day I've met both Protein and Fluid requirements. I'm only day 4, and already 13 pounds down, so I finally feel like this won't be just another diet at which I will fail. I hope you all are well and continuing your success. TigerBelle and others who aren't sleeved yet, it really does get better each day.
  19. I just learned the limits of my sleeve with full soup. Holy Mother, pray for me, because OW! Four spoonfuls. Seriously. And they weren't even really full!
  20. Hell yes there are! I don't even miss the full-sugar ones. Those always made me sick so I switched in my teens. Y'all. Cream of Brie and crab. It's what's for dinner and a-freaking-mazing.
  21. Congratulations! You look amazing and soy da like you feel fabulous. Love that dress!
  22. Congratulations! I am so so so happy for you! I'm 4 days post-op and down 12.5 pounds.
  23. What an awesome, positive way to see progress when the scale is stuck. Thanks for sharing!
  24. OMG, I thought it was me! LOL
