  1. Spoken like a true hetrosexual male!!!!!!!
  2. I have been noticing the same thing, and drawn the same conclusion. Many a man has been converted by a righteous (and persistant) wife. I actually think they are a great example of how people can get along if they want to, in spite of political differences. Or religious difference. Or any differences, for that matter.
  3. I never liked Ann Coulter, obviously. She's a fanatical ultra-conservative and I'm a liberal. But I was willing to live and let live - that is, not wish her any actual harm - until she let loose on the 9/11 widows. Now I hope she gets hit by a bus. I have been widowed myself - twice. It destroys your world. It rips you to pieces, especially if you have children. It is so intensely painful, you become numb. So when AC said of the 9/11 widows that she had "never seen anyone enjoying their husbands deaths so much", I was livid. She did not know those women, yet she called four of them "witches" and said they were using their grief to make a political point - because they supported John Kerry for President. It reminds me of the you-can-choose-not-to-be-gay refrain.....who WANTS to join these clubs - the persecuted minority club and the grieving widow club? What idiotic drivel.
  4. Yep...just as I suspected - a Yankee. In the South he would have said, "My warshin machin's done give up the ghost."
  5. No, she only gets the last word on who's invited to participate. Even Cheyenne's mother does not get the "last word" regarding her activities, although I respect her opinion and am always willing to listen to her input.
  6. That was my first thought....does Emily even WANT to be in Auntie's wedding? Yes, she does. Her first question was, "Why did Auntie pick Cheyenne and not me? Does she like Cheyenne better than me? Does she think she's prettier?" How do you answer that? Emily also said, "Please tell Nanny not to stop Cheyenne from being in the wedding. She will think it's all my fault." The last word I received was this morning. Emily's father weighed in (how nice of him, since he does little else) and said he will pay for Emily's dress if his sister can find a place for her in the wedding. She (the aunt) is adamant, however, that Emily will NOT be part of the actual ceremony/bridal party, as she says that has already been "arranged". I'd like to add that Emily's hurt is compounded by the fact that she lived with this aunt for several months and feels quite a bond with her and her two young children.
  7. I have to say from experience that toddlers are not good candidates for the bridal party. My DIL's mother insisted on having her 18 month old grandson perform as ring bearer at my son's wedding. It was a disaster. Children are just too unpredictable at that age. Dustin was disruptive, loud, and uncooperative. He finally had to be handed off to his grandmother so the ceremony could continue.
  8. My granddaughter lives with me (age 14). She has a younger sister (age 11) who lives with their mother (my daughter). The girls have a paternal aunt who is getting married (finally....the groom had to finalize his divorce first, and they had two children during their "courtship", but never mind that). Auntie called me a couple of months ago and asked if Cheyenne could be one of her bridesmaids. Auntie asked me not to mention it to Emily (the other granddaughter) because "I haven't figured out a part for Emily in the wedding yet". I (foolish me) took that to mean there WOULD be a role for Emily in her aunt's wedding. Spring Break is coming up. Auntie wants to take Cheyenne (the bridesmaid granddaughter) to San Antonio for the week and have the bridesmaid's dress fitted. Okay....but I mentioned this to my daughter, only to learn that nothing has been said about Emily....no dress fitting, no asking permission for her to be in the wedding....nothing. So last night I told Cheyenne to find out from Auntie what Emily's part will be in the wedding. Auntie says she still "doesn't know". So I said to Cheyenne, "I'm concerned that your aunt may leave Emily out of her wedding entirely and if that's the case, you aren't going to be in it, either. You're sisters, close in age, and that's just not right. Emily is going to think Auntie likes you better than her." It was as if I had dropped the bomb to set off WWIII. Auntie called me, screaming that I was "butting into her business"...."trying to ruin her wedding"....and informed me that "this isn't going to happen". Her reason for not including Emily, she said, was that she couldn't afford another dress. "I'll pay for the dress," I said. Then she said she couldn't include her in the bridal party because there was no male counterpart for her on the groom's side. I reminded her that at her brother's wedding, when she was 8 years old, we included a young boy we would not have otherwise, for the exact same reason - so she would not be left out. And I paid for her dress. She told me, in response, that this was her wedding, "not your daughter's". Cheyenne is furious with me, and with her mother (for not bucking my decision). I, however, think this is just a really inconsiderate act on Auntie's part. Turns out she invited Cheyenne to participate because the groom has a 10 year old brother who will be a groomsman and they needed someone close to his height on the bride's side, so the wedding party looks symmetrical. Cheyenne is 4' 10" and Emily is about two inches shorter. So....what do you guys think? I believe family is more important that symmetry. Am I being unreasonable?
  9. That can't be right. I'm a member in good standing of GRITS (girls raised in the South) and I've never heard anybody say "give up the goat".
  10. Jesse Ventura could be his VP. Or that Dog guy - the bounty hunter. I can just see him and his wife at the White House. OMG!
  11. I always thought it was "gave up the ghost".
  12. Ann Coulter has accused almost every liberal in politics of being gay, including both Bill and Hillary Clinton. And we all know what a good psychiatrist would make of THAT.
  13. My DH, too. But some of the guys he worked with are still hangin' onto that "rebel without a cause" thing. Actually, I think they are more rebels-without-a-clue.
  14. Hey, I've got your number. I married one of your co-workers....the place is a magnet for "bad boy" types.
  15. This is SO true. Fortunately, I went thru my "bad boy" phase very early - around age 15. Those guys are HOT when they are young but middle-age rebels just have nothing to recommend them. They don't often make good husbands/fathers; they're very self-centered, and they tend to have career problems, resulting from a short temper and a bad attitude.
  16. Close by my neighborhood, a new roadside memorial has been erected recently. A school mate of my granddaughter's was hit by a truck and killed, and I have no idea who erected the memorial, but it's obvious that others have added it (flowers, stuffed animals, etc). However, there were two young girls involved in that accident. The other will survive. What happens when she comes home and is confronted by this memorial on a daily basis? I think that in this case, it should be removed. Otherwise, I agree that they should stay up for a short time only - maybe 30 days. Homes and businesses used to display funeral wreaths on the door when there was a death in the family. Does anyone still do this?
  17. Moreover, could any of you straight people become gay thru counseling? I doubt many have tried, but I know a number of gay people who wasted a lot of time and money trying to do so, because they very much wanted to feel like a "normal" human being. Who on God's green earth would CHOOSE to be part of a persecuted minority? That just makes no sense.
  18. You have a Yahoo husband AND an MSNBC husband? Wow! I only have one.....a Golf Channel husband.

    Not a bypasser.....one of our own - a Bandster.
  20. Perhaps, but this woman's admonishments have nothing to do with good manners. She maintains that you cannot take Communion if you have chewed gum in the last hour because, she says, it breaks the fast. My mother-in-law is almost 87 years old and suffers with dry mouth. She is seldom up to going to Mass any more, but when she does, she sometimes sucks on mints, or chews gum (very quietly), to help alleviate this condition. I intercepted one of this nut-case woman's notes intended for my MIL once. And frankly, it made me furious.
  21. My husband will vote for whomever the Democrats nominate. He's just praying it isn't Hillary.
  22. I will save you the trouble. This is, after all, your thread. So I will leave it to you.
  23. My personal choice would be Hillary, but I don't think she is electable. Same for Obama. Hillary is smart, experienced, level-headed, and very middle-of-the-road. (Remember that she was once a Republican.) Hillary Clinton is the most conservative Democrat on the horizon, and I am basically a conservative Democrat. She doesn't come from old money or big business, so I think she's got fewer debts to pay back, if you know what I mean. :biggrin1: Edwards is a no-go. The Democratic party couldn't sell him the last time around and I don't think they can sell him this time. McCain just doesn't seem to believe strongly in anything. He's a nice guy and all, but just doesn't light my fire. So I'm officially on the fence right now.
  24. Gee....you should meet Mr. Ron Cusano. You have a lot in common.
