PEOPLE WHO ONLY DID 3 day liquid pre op diet
Bigfrank that's not your problem. You have provided appropriate warning. This will be for her and her family to face going forward. Sometimes we have the blessing of making a connection in someone's life where you can make an impression from the other side of the world. This is clearly not opportunity for you.

PEOPLE WHO ONLY DID 3 day liquid pre op diet
Y'all need to stop and agree to disagree. Everyone has their own belief system and other factors that play into their strong opinions of this. Rollargirl - I didn't see the posts as attacking but rather concerning and not knowing if you fully understood. Your emotional ties to this is what made it feel attacking. This has now been taken WAY to far. Just STOP nothing productive will come from further back and forth.

Sadly, AddryW, it appears so......

IF YOU HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY...THEN DON'T SAY IT.
I have not been on this forum for long and have found some really great support and ideas here. I understand about the "train wreck" and have seen some threads like this.....I would have to say my biggest frustration with the forum is that many threads get bogged down with people bantering back and forth and you have sort through all the bs to find solid answers - many times it really looks like these users should be utilitizing the chat function rather than the threads.....I am not criticizing - just observing - and I will continue to sort through threads and unsubscribe when my email gets blown up with silliness.

Told the rest of my family - I am in shock!
I finally told my parents and much to my surprise they were both 100% on board. Now I'm not going to MX but I still thought at least my dad would give me slack. Instead they said they are proud of me for taking control. ????

Need to hear from the ex-heavy smokers and current smokers
@Ro2x - I had the same concerns about chantix but in the end the only side effect I had we're really weird dreams. I eventually connected that the dreams were only when I drank alcohol.

How much did you lose pre op?

Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fries, Icy Coke, Milkshakes, Sundaes and Apple Pie!
Why would you want to eat a Big Mac after everything you through to even get the surgery?

Need to hear from the ex-heavy smokers and current smokers
I was a heavy smoker and was required to quit for my surgery. I used chantix which had not worked in the past. This time it had to. It hasn't been easy and the one thing that has kept me from caving is knowing I must pass a blood nicotine test. I can actually say I feel better. Walking is easier. Climbing stairs is easier. Not covering the smell is a great relief. I was sick most of this winter and now realize that my smoking and my age is why. Now all that being said I can tell you that I was pissed off about having to quit. Still am actually. I went through one particular stressful week where I didn't think I would make it. Even had someone blow smoke in my face - which did calm me some. My partner still smokes and is very considerate about it. I still get pissed off but it does get easier each day. I have started making an X on a calendar to track the days and money saved. Eventually I will save enough to buy a coveted D&B bag as my reward. Will I pick it up again? I don't know but I pray not. I know this is necessary for my health. I will say I had it a little easier because I could not smoke at work as it is totally smoke free which will be harder for you. But when you get the psychological desire wait it out a few minutes and it will go away. Now I see it that if I could quit smoking I can handle to food restrictions. I even lost weight during the process. Let me know if you have more questions. I've been there done that.

How common is a liver biopsy with VSG?
Either way biopsy results should be back. I suggest you contact your surgeon for the results on Monday just to put your mind at ease.
-
Insurance question.
I have never heard of it being a ore-existing condition. It basically comes down to the plan your employer chooses. Approval for these surgeries are becoming more common in regular health plans because of the long term savings from the effects of obesity - diabetes HBP heart disease. Also most plans eventually fall in line with Medicare guidelines (with Medicare being the slowest to cover new procedures). Medicare just this year has added the sleeve to a covered service. Before that bypass was the only option. (I work on the business end of healthcare so have a fairly good understanding of some of these issues) Hope this helps

Time off work for surgery
It's really for job protection and not money. My son was in and out of the hospital over five months. I got intermittent FMLA that allowed me to take time as needed and they could not use it against in terms of performance etc

Time off work for surgery
It's not illegal. In my organization you are required to use all PTO balances prior to utilizing STD.......and I work for the government.

Muscle Milk?
I love EAS. Couldn't stand the muscle milk. The chocolate had what seemed to be a hint of coconut which I abhor. Luckily my kids drank them!
