  1. Congrats! I have BCBS Federal and am so worried.
  2. Thanks! Great ideas. I'm sure it all be fine. Just trying to figure out what I can do proactively.
  3. I have Federal BCBS, which requires, among other things, a two year history of being morbidly obese. I have a unique situation. I am a wheelchair user and cannot stand. Because of this, my primary care physician has been unable to weigh me. My VSG surgeon's office was able to weigh me with an accessible scale. However, I am concerned that I do not have the 2 year history documented. Thoughts?? Ideas??
  4. Why isn't my BMI showing in my profile? I don't see a place to add it.
  5. I'm from Mass too! Where did you have your procedures done?
  6. Thanks! I'm actually pre-op...just beginning this journey.
  7. At my first meeting with my surgeon and nutritionist they told me to begin taking a multivitamin and calcium citrate. I have been doing that for a week or so. The last few days, I am having stomach discomfort and loose stool. Is this a side effect of the vitamins?
  8. Who was your surgeon? How was your experience? What do you mean conservative?
  9. I'm just beginning this journey but wanted to introduce myself. I'm 4'11" and 187lbs. My BMI is 38.
  10. Hello, I'm just beginning the journey but love Newton Wellesley's program. I'd definitely recommend it!
  11. Hi! Does anyone have experience with Newton Wellesley Hospital?
  12. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 4'11" and 187 lbs. I just had my first appointment with the surgeon.
  13. Thanks everyone!! It's an exciting and scary journey!
  14. Hello, This week I had my first appointment and after talking with the surgeon, I am leaning toward the sleeve. I'm considered a "lightweight" with a BMI of 37. I'd love to hear people's experiences with the sleeve. Thanks!
  15. Hi! After lurking for the past few weeks, I wanted to introduce myself. I went to an informational session recent and have my first meeting with my surgeon February 6th. I have been overweight since high school. I'm a wheelchair user which likely is partly the reason (limited exercise). I don't actually even know what I weigh because my PCP has never been able to weigh me! They will weigh me during my first appointment. Trying to decide between the sleeve and bypass. I'd love to know why people chose the sleeve. Looking forward to getting to know you all on this journey!
