  2. Just sent you a request. Please let me know if you did not get it or if you have any trouble accessing the group.
  3. The pill is a bit larger than an eraser of a pencil. It's a ppi so I'm not sure if this one can be crushed or not. I, of course, know that I'll have to run this by my surgeon for his approval, but for now, I was wondering what you all thought. Here is a photo of the pill. As you can see, it is oval in shape and slightly larger than the eraser of a pencil.
  4. It has been doing that lately, and I have no idea why. It makes me want to kick it. I just sent you a friend request so I can manually add you to the group.
  5. I sure will! Just sent you an invitation to your e-mail inbox. Please let me know if you did not receive it and/or if you have any trouble accessing the group.

  7. Just sent you an invitation to your e-mail inbox. Please let me know if you did not receive it and/or if you have any trouble accessing the group. You couldn't find it because it's a secret group, and only members can see it. It helps protect our privacy from family and friends. Sort of like a "secret society." Just sent you an invitation to your e-mail inbox. Please let me know if you did not receive it and/or if you have any trouble accessing the group.
  8. How long can you sleep at a time once you're discharged from the hospital? I know that probably sounds like a weird question, but I'm doing all that I can do to prevent blood clots. My doctor wants me up and walking around at least once every one to two hours, so I was wondering how long is it ok for me to sleep post-op for the first couple of months without getting up to walk around and get a little activity going?
  9. I sent you a friend request so I can manually add you to the group. It won't let me send you another email invitation. Once you accept the friend request, then I can add you to the group.
  10. Just sent you an invitation. Please let me know if you did not receive it.
  11. My family lives in a condo on the second story of the building. No elevator, just stairs. I walked up a couple of stairs (we lived elsewhere) after the birth of my son, who was born via c-section. Should I be worried about having to climb a flight of stairs the day or two days after I'm sleeved? Like, is it painful and/or hard to do that soon after having your stomach cut out? I was fine after my c-section and the incision was much lower on my abdomen, so I figure I'd be ok with the sleeve/stairs thing. Just wanted to see how your experiences went. Thanks!
  12. My plan has two phases: stage 1 is liquids and stage 2 is soft foods. No pureed or mushy phase. The plan says I can have lean ground meats (beef, chicken, turkey) on day #22, but doesn't say anything about meat sticks or beef jerky. I'm assuming that I shouldn't eat pepperoni or jerky until I'm on full foods. When did you you turkey pepperoni/regular pepperoni sticks?
  13. Just sent you an invitation. Please let me know if you don't receive it. It has been giving people problems lately.

  15. We have a facebook group for April 2013 sleevers. If anyone would like to join, please send me your e-mail address associated with your facebook and I'll send you an invitation to join. It's all secure and no one on your friend's list will be able to see that you're apart of the group, that the group exists, or any of the postings in the group.

  17. Nuke a Hershey bar in the microwave for a couple of seconds 'til it's soft. Then it counts as a soft food, right? Just kidding! Please don't do that. I was going to say a chocolate Protein shake, but these ladies beat me to it.
  18. Laughed so hard at this. I concur.
  19. I'm a Dr. Nick patient, scheduled for April 8th. I love Dr. Nick! He put my husband and I at ease. I started out as a patient of Dr. Barker's, but didn't like the assembly line feeling I got in his office, so off to Dr. Nick I went. His staff has been nothing short of amazing. I started the process on February 1st and could've had my surgery on March 4th, which meant that they moved the insurance process speedy quick. Any time that I have needed them, they've responded quickly via e-mail or telephone call. Like, they return calls back within 30 minutes. They're just great so far. I feel completely secure in my choice for him as my surgeon.
  20. My experience was quite different. I contacted my surgeon's office directly about two weeks before my insurance was actually going to go into effect. They scheduled me an appt for February 1st, which was the day that my insurance became effective. I met with the doctor's staff, who weighed & asked me questions. Then the surgeon came in and we discussed everything. He answered all my questions. We had a nice chat. Then, I met with the insurance coordinator, who gave me a printout of all that my insurance required before they would approve surgery (one nutrition visit, one psych evaluation, and clearance from my pcp.) The ball was in my court after that. I called the next day (a Saturday) and scheduled an appt w/ the psychologist for my psych eval for the following Thursday. I also made an appt w/ my pcp for Monday (three days after my surgery consult) and my nutritionist for that Tuesday (four days post-first surgical consult.) I completed all my requirements in less than a week. My insurance coordinator had all the documentation she needed within a week after my first appointment with my surgeon, and she sent it all to the insurance company on February 11th. I was approved on February 18th. My surgeon's office wanted to schedule me for March 4th but I took a date in April, because I needed time to get all my stuff together. I have a 2 year old son and had to make arrangements for his care while I'm recovering, as my husband will be working from home the week of my surgery but then has to return to the office. Plus, I wanted to give myself time to make sure I had covered all my bases. All that is left is my pre-admissions medical testing to the hospital, which consists of another EKG, blood work, and a barium swallow. That is scheduled a week before my surgery, and are my surgeon's requirements, not my insurance. I should also mention that I had been through the pre-op process before with another surgeon in 2011. I lost my insurance last minute and had to start back over. I was very educated on WLS before going into my appt so I didn't have to attend a seminar or anything like that. It can happen quickly. I walked into my surgeon's office thinking I had 6 months of a medically supervised diet ahead of me, only to find out that all I had to have were three visits that would be completed in less than a week. Had I taken the March date, I would've had my surgery a month from the day I started the entire VSG process. My advice is to be fully prepped, because you never know how fast it will happen for you. Best of luck to you!
  21. Have you had an appt w/ a surgeon yet? They should be able to tell you what your insurance requires. Or you could contact your insurance directly.
  22. My insurance didn't require it. All I had to do was an appt w/ a nutritionist, a psych evaluation, and have medical clearance from my pcp. I started my journey on February 1st, completed all my requirements the following week, submitted to insurance on February 11th, and had my insurance approval on February 18th. It just depends on the terms of your insurance policy. Who is your insurance through? Mine is BCBS of CA.
  23. Just sent you a request.
  24. I just sent you a friend request. My name is Khloé T.
