  1. I am just curious - in general- have you felt more support from your fat friends or skinny friends? please forgive my terms of fat and skinny (not trying to offend any!) I thought for sure my skinny friends would be more judgmental and I was more hesitant to share with them about my surgery. To my surprise, they were the most encouraging and supportive. I thought my "fat" friends would be more understanding of this struggle and therefore more supportive and encouraging. However, I have found them to be the bigger "naysayers". Wondered what other's had experienced?

    Ouch!

Yes I think this happened to me- I am three weeks out and was feeling pretty good then lots of pain recently under incision where stomach came out of. Feels like a pulling pain- very tender. how long does it last? should I call my doctor? what to do? I have been icing it and trying to relax
  3. So I am 3 weeks post op and my incisions appear to be healing nicely. The don't show signs of infections. After the first week or so I had no pain but then at 3 weeks out I have pain under one of the incisions (where they took stomach out). it is like a pulling pain. I would think this is normal but why didn't this area hurt like this before 3 weeks out? I would think the pain would have been worse right after surgery and better by now but instead it was better after surgery and worse now? It feels good to put ice pack on it- any other suggestions? is this normal or something I need to call the doctor about?

    Incision pain

I am having the same thing. I was feeling pretty good and then 3 weeks out pain under the incision where stomach taken out of. it feels like a pulling pain and tender. Have been icing it. So was there anything they needed to do for the popped internal stitch? and since time has passed since your post- how are you doing now? did you end up with any complications and how long did the pain last?
  5. So I am about 17 days post~op and doing great for the most part. I am on week 2 of full liquids. Tonight I woke up two times suddenly with this rushing/gushing feeling in my mouth. Not sure how to best describe it but it almost felt like a burst of bubbles rushing up my throat. It startled me awake and scared the living day lights out of me! I didn't feel like I needed to throw anything up and there didn't really seem to be a bunch of liquid in my mouth although it made me want to sip a little water. Anyone else have this? What is it?
  6. one week post-op and I got my staples and drain out- feeling good- 18 lbs lost!

  7. I haven't see the liquid vitamins in Costco but if you order online they have some great sugar-free liquid Vitamins. The two brands are Reviva and Wellese. I have tried both multi-vitamin, b-12 sublingual and calcium. Wellese brand is nice because it comes with a built in measuring cup. Reviva is nice if space is an issue in your fridge (thinner bottle). When you order you get twin packs about two months worth for under $25. The b-12 is a pack of 3 and a 6 month supply. These are great money saving options! Also we were told to make sure you take in calcium citrate NOT calcium carbonate. Costco sold some chews as well but unfortunately they were the carbonate (guess the citrate is better absorbing
  8. Hey all. I got sleeved Feb 12th and am one week out. overall feeling much better than I thought by now. I am on clear liquids until tomorrow then I start full liquids. 10. Hi! I am new here and I just got approved for surgery Feb 12, 2013! I wanted to introduce myself and am so appreciative to find this forum. about me: I have been struggling with weight since about the age of 8. I remember going to weight watchers at the age of 12. After college, I gained 40lbs in one year. I have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which doesn't help with the weight. I love to eat- I eat for all occasions- happy, sad, stress, etc.... BUT I am tired of food ruling my life! I have always lived to eat and I want to change that. I want to eat to live! I gained more weight after two kids and have been quite miserable. I have done many different diets and lifestyle changes but it is typical...lose weight, gain it back plus some. I looked into surgery a couple years ago but my insurance did not cover it. In November, we switched insurance companies and they cover it! Here is my timeline of events: 11-10-12- Information session 11-12-12- Verify benefits 11-12-12- complete and return questionnaires to doctor 11-16-12- view on line EMMI presentation 11-29-12- Bariatric screening with nurse and dietitian 12-10-12- psychological evaluation 1-3-13- Consult with surgeon- Dr. Amir Heydari 1-21-13- Request for authorization for surgery sent 1-24-13- Approved! wow that was fast (though they did not call and tell me until 1-28-13) 1-24-13- 1st pre-op class 1-31-13- 2nd pre-op class 1-31-13- pre-op appointment with surgeon 2-2-13- Begin pre-op diet 2-12-13- Surgery scheduled! I am so excited and nervous all at once. I have prayed for this and God has heard my cry. I know it will NOT be easy but I am so ready for this.

    Hello world!

My surgery is tomorrow! I can't believe it. Sounds strange but I am so excited. I feel so at peace and look forward to a new life! I have completed the 10 day pre-op diet which was protein shakes and fruits and veggies. I lost almost 10lbs on that so off to a good start!. My surgery is at 10:15am if there are any prayer warriors out there! I will keep you updated!

    Hello world!

Thank you all for your warm welcome and wise words. Today is an emotional day- my last day before the 10 day pre-op diet. I am having my "last supper" at the Melting Pot- my favorite! I feel like I am losing my "best friend" of almost 40 years. That sounds so silly but I am sure you all understand what I mean! I am in mourning a little bit but so excited for my new life to come! for those of you who had the surgery already what were the first couple of weeks like. When were you able to drive? go out in public? etc...
