  1. I started a new topic in the post op section check it out...... http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/68655-february-sleevers-2013how-you-doing-after-youve-been-sleeved/#entry679387
  2. I decided to braid mines up and get a weave with 100% percent Indian Remy wet and wavy which will last for a while and give my hair a rest. I have been going natural for about 8 months now and have about 2 inches of relaxed hair left. But my Dr and NUT told me makes sure to take all vitamins and stay hydrated, I have been taking Biotin for a couple of years and my hair seems to grow pretty quick and the protein well extra protein helps greatly.
  3. Thought we could all convene here after our Feb sx so we could stay in touch....
  4. Juny trying increasing your water. Also try to have something hot/warm to drink first thing in the morning and then again prior to bedtime, this should help with that. The Dr I went to they give each gastric patient a binder called the Patient Handbook for Gastric Surgeries and just about every question that has been asked in this forum has been in that book, it is awesome tool to have and so grateful for it. Started rereading it again last night.
  5. You are so right about that, every since I started this journey this is all i can think . I eat sleep and breather Gastric Sleeve....It doesn't get any better the closer the date get, you get excited also....Best wishes with your surgery
  6. Hey all, hope everyone who has had surgery this far is recovering well, if not I hope you will be soon. I have about a week to go before my surgery and I feel like I am nesting...lol...Cleaning painting and tearing off wall paper...I guess I got alot of nervous energy and probably will until the big day. Getting more nervous as time goes by..
  7. Well I am a nurse.....lol Facing and I see no good rationale the NUT ...welll anyway. You are absolutely right Facing about the metabolism. i do hope see has sought another opinion because she be headed for trouble if she keeps that routine up with less caloric intake.
  8. he math doesn't add up to me, if you are only taking in 400-600 calories a day, and burning 700-800. what are you left with to function. At that rate you will start using muscle to make up for the calorie and fat lost. I think you need to talk with some else, because that just doesn't seem to make alot of sense to me.
  9. I will be sleeved on the 19 liquids only on the 16th the all clears on the 18th til midnight, Fee
  10. I had my last preop appointment today. Met with my wonderful surgeon, Dr. Joseph Steiner Lexington, KY St Joseph Hospital East, Weight Loss Center of Excellent. While driving to the appt my heart did flip flops why you ask why, BECAUSE THIS JUST GOT REALLY REAL.....YES I AM DOING THIS. WOW. It was really a learning experience, always something to learn. The first thing, they give you this wonderful wonderful Patient Handbook Binder, yes I said binder, any question you can ever think of is answered in this book. A lovely lovely thing to have for you and your supporters. Another yeah I am down 11 lbs, Dr said I am doing great great and I will do wonderful. I am super excited now, I ready to get it going got alot of stuff together before my big grand brand new life...................So excited...Got so much I want to say but to excited can't even get it all out....I did ask him a question that brought chuckles to the room. I ask him you some of us older women getting sleeved are not as perky as we used to be and we don't want know one tripping over the boobies during surgery, so what you gonna do with them.....ROFL.....He said strangely enough that is not the first time I was asked that......Lovely man with a great sense of humor. Oh and he said he would takes pics for me during the surgery, he is doing it robotically........Yes 21st century surgery.........Happy Happy Joy joy
  11. I got great tip my NUT today she said to make my broths/soup up and freeze them in ice cube trays and bag them 2 ice cubes to a bag and I have ready made meals.....will be doing that this weekend...
  12. I had to do the same thing today, I lost 11-12 lbs, and my Dr was truly excited for me. Your surgeon might cancel. Losing weight prior to surgery shows him 2 things, that your liver is shrinking and that you will and can adhere to the protocols after your sleeved is performed. You don't have to give out the foods you like, it's not like you will ever have them again, you will just in smaller amounts. I would get on the that quick face and in a hurry. Even during my preop diet or what my Dr's office call is my Bari Diet, I till ate the things I like with the exceptions of the carbs and the amount of it I eat. I love Chinese food, so what I would do is got to the buffet and get a to go box and maybe a tablespoon or 2 of rice and the rest veggies and protein, eating most of the protein first, why leaving less room for me to eat all the rice. And it worked 12 lbs lost. I even had a cookie and an orange slice or 2 every now and then......

  14. We don't know why some things happen but God does. Think of it as a blessing. Cause we just never know what we might have been saved from....
  15. I dont plan on taking much myself. No pj or nities, don't want to run the risk of getting any blood on them, they provide you with nice purple gripping socks and I am good with that. I will bring my phone and tablet, tablet I takes notes on and write down any question i need answers to and instructions and tips. i can read on my tablet and listen to music as the hospital I will be in has free WiFi for everyone in the hospital. I brought a sweat suit if you will that I will wear to the hospital and wear home. I will have it on about 1 hour tops so it will be clean, a couple of pairs of underwear/panities, a bra, probably a front closing sports bra. And my blankie....lol yeah I said blankie...don't judge me....lol... That is about all I am taking and will need. They have these huge gowns which will double as a robe so I am good. Oh and my head phones gotta listen to my tune, more thank likely will have a private room so I am str8. Best of Luck everyone
  16. congrats to you sweetie.....Welcome to the losers bench......
  17. Since I have been on my pre op shrink liver diet (lean proteins and veggies) half the time I don't even want to eat. Nothing even taste right anymore.....I fine myself making myself eat on some days well most day....Mu liquid diet starts on the 16th clear liquids the nite before sx on the 19th of Feb
  18. You have truly said a mouthful. Here's the thing I truly get your point. I am still pre pre-op if that makes sense to you and I am sure it does. Today wasn't son good a day but not a bad day, I got my protein is and some carbs, but not that I think about it after reading your post, the carbs I had today was as much carbs as I had all week last week. I am typing post sleeping pill so bear with me....lol...I totally understand and agree with your point. No one ever said we couldn't have or eat anything, we just have to modify how we do that's all. I love orange slices and prior to the seminar back in dec I could eat a hole bag in about 2 days but closer 1., But to date I brought a bag of oranges slices about a 1 week ago and I still have that bag which is about half full still.....I call that PROGRESS for me, just learning my new normal way of living. Great Post Nurse.
  19. oh ok I would bring it to then. Are you taking some antiacids with you
