  1. A direct quote from a friend who was sleeved in march "One thing I wish someone had told me beforehand (not that it would have changed my mind, but I wish I had been prepared), is that I would no longer enjoy eating. Nothing tastes good to me, and I get disgusted with most things after a couple bites. My tastes have completely changed. I no longer like anything sweet, and tend to like things a lot spicier than I did before. I have mixed feelings on all of this. Sometimes I get a little down thinking that I may go through the rest of my life without ever enjoying food again. I just wanted to make you aware because no one made me aware of this before surgery. Overall, I am VERY happy with everything, and would do it all over again."

  7. I'm struggling as well. My surgery is on the 19th... I have been making good food choices but I just can't get full day in of liquids... I'm going to be try to be strong for the last week. I'm so concerned that it will be cancelled. That's my biggest fear. Trying to stay strong....
  8. Good luck to you! Keep your chin up and remember this journey is your own. Keep positive!
  9. June 19th.... My surgeon promised me that when I wake I will have the sleeve... If there are complications he will open me up and forgo laparoscopic ... Or go ahead with bypass.... It's been a long road....
  10. Before pictures:::: make sure everyone takes before shots!! Trust me!! You will have days that you feel that your not losing, your bad days... Look at that before shot and it will help you remember!! This is my second go around..( so to speak) I've list 36 lbs since my first appt with my doc in dec... The 19th is fast approaching and ill say that I'm more nervous this time around. My biggest fear is to wake from surgery and it could not have been done again for the second time. ( first time was due to a mass on my stomach) so this is all a second chance for me... The surgery saved my life once and now it's time to go again. I have a friend who is having the sleeve in the same day, same doc. We are sleeve buddies! Looking forward to the other side if the sleeve!
  11. 19th sleeve sisters and brothers... We are on the 10 day count!! Good luck to sleevers this week!!'
  12. My sleeve is June 19th.... I already have thin, short hair... I guess I'll just pull a sinead O'conner (or Brittany spears for younger gen) and shave it all off... Thin and bald is the new beautiful!

I tried several rides and was asked to get out if line... In less than two weeks ill be sleeved and then next summer... I'm going back!!
  14. So happy for all us June sleeves!!
  15. This is my second time... The two weeks of all liquids... After a 3-4 days you adjust but... It's not easy.
  16. Hello!! I am Busybeingme! I am 35 yr, PreNursing student who lives near Annapolis MD. I am a full time wife, student and CNA. I have been married for 10 years and been with my husband for 18 years. We have two furry faced children, BamBam and Gracie (cats) I have PCOS so we have been unable to conceive children on our own, and infertility is not in our price range. In March of this year I went in for gastric sleeve surgery. When my surgeon went in he found a mass on my stomach, and nodules on my liver and spleen. It was decided at that time not to proceed with the sleeve surgery. After 7 days in the hospital and 3 weeks on home health care lots of blood tests, Cat scan, MRI and biopsies later... I am Cancer Free, Disease Free! So now I have a new date of JUNE 19th!! I am super excited about having this surgery. My journey started back in Aug on a day trip to Kings Dominion (Adventure park in VA) I went with some coworkers.. at 330 lbs I was unable to ride all but ONE roller coaster. I simply did not fit... that is when I decided to simply do something about my size. Until this point in my life, I was really not interested in having weight loss surgery. That day, waiting for my friends to ride coasters and me watching I knew I had hit rock bottom... so, I started looking into the lap band... I knew an old coworker who had it done... so i started to research... Then I found my ANGEL MD his name is Dr. Gandsas. I went to his seminar and knew what I wanted... Gastric Sleeve. My husband went with me and he said... "Lets do this together..." I have wonderful support system. This is basically my second time going through this whole process so id be happy to help with any pre surgical questions or concerns... Happy to meet you all!! Cant wait to be on the other side.... BBM
  17. Anne Arundel medical center... Look up bariatric support groups or dr. Gandsas...
  18. June 19th here too!! I'm super excited. This will be a second attempt after complications from march date..( nothing to do with sleeve procedure) I'm ready to go!
  19. Hello everyone. Well this is my second go round... I was scheduled approved and ready to go on march 20th. I went into the OR, surgery started and spots were found on my liver and spleen and a mass on my stomach. After 7 days in the hospital, liver biopsy's and 3 weeks of antibiotics to rule out several infectious diseases... Here I am. June 19 is my new date and we are a GO! This process is complex and the preop liver shrinking diet (if you are required) is not bad but tough... If I can answer any questions about it let me know... If you are interested in a secret Facebook group (no one but group members can see) let me know I did one for another group.
  20. Hi my march sleever friends: I hope everyone is doing well... Thank you for all the well wishes! I am cleared of all 50 infectious diseases they have been testing me for and treating me pre treating me for one.,, I was in home isolation for 2.5 weeks and in major antibiotics. I am now off of all and waiting for a new surgery date... I'm hoping for June.... So happy to have made all new friends in here... You are all in my thoughts and prayers best wishes and much success!! I can't wait to be with all of you on the other side of the sleeve... Xoxo
