March 12 th
I'm also 3/12. I'm in WA. I get the first surgery of the day. Have to be there at 5am. Woo hoo!!! How are you feeling about it all?

jeez, these knees
My knees have hurt on and off for a few years but never anything too too bothersome. But oh my gosh, in the last 3 months they have killed!!!! At first is was like a pressure when I had to bend my knees. But now, it's a dull pain or pressure constantly (like a 2 or a 3 on a pain scale) and sometimes when I sit for a while (20 minutes or more) they are very stiff when I bend them. Also, the pressure is so intense sometimes when I need to bend my knees it feels like they might pop like a balloon (like a 7 or more on a pain scale). Sometimes when im standing or working it feels like they are locking up and maybe I'll fall. I couldn't get in to see my doc so about a month ago I saw an arnp. She told me she thought my knee caps were moving or something. I don't know. It didn't feel right. I am just hoping and praying that this will alleviate itself after my surgery March 12th as my weight drops. Has anyone else had similar knee issues and did they resolve? Lord, I hope so because at this point the pain is getting in the way of everyday life.

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
I've started it twice. I'm pre op. I never made it past the 3rd week. I wanted to but the last time my knees and shins have me such grief I just could bare another go. I am hoping that post op I'll have a better go at it.

3/12 here.- Any March Sleevers?
My date is set for 3/12 ... I'm the first to go in in the morning.- approval - oh em gee!
No date yet. I wish I did because I'm set to start a new job.- approval - oh em gee!
So my surgeon's office submitted all my documentation to my insurance (bcbs) via fax on the last day of January which was a Thursday. I got my approval letter from the insurance and it was dated February 1st. OMG! One day?! That's crazy right?! I'm a 5'5", 29 yr old female, with a bmi of 40 (no diagnosed comorbidities). I've struggled with with since puberty. This seems so surreal that this is happening. I have a few walk in procedures to do (labs, chest xray, ekg) and the results of my egd to get back and then it's smooth sailing into the OR. Eeek! Nervous & excited!- What's it like to have the flu post op?
Hi all! I'm still pre-op but I'm sitting here miserable with the flu today. I am wondering what the experience is like post-op. Any of you come down with a stomach bug yet that causes you to throw up frequently? What's that like on your sleeve? How do you prevent dehydration when you are ill? Are there any specific drinks you try to get down? I imagine that it's probably very much the same as when you had your whole stomach but, just in case, I wanted to ask.- March Sleevers

Welcome LadiiBee!! You'll find plenty of support here!- Post-op care seattle wa
I don't know any surgeons who do aftercare for self care patients. However, I do know that Franciscan Center for Weight Management (Federal Way) is a BCE and they offer monthly support groups (in FW at St. Francis and in Lakewood at St. Claire). You could see about going to those support groups or, if you call around and find a surgeon for long-term after care they might have other support groups.- Before and after I feel awesome thank u god
So awesome! It's like happiness is radiating out if you. As I sit here pre-op, waiting for approval it gives me hope to see such success and evident happiness.- Any March Sleevers?
No date for me yet. My paperwork was submited to BCBS Thursday afternoon. The surgeon's office encouraged me to call them Monday. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, I suppose. Since I'm hoping to start a new job having a date would be very helpful so I can let them know I'll need time off. On a brighter note, I had my EGD Friday and it was a breeze! The surgeon and his staff were EXCELLENT!!- Any March Sleevers?

Hi Lisa! Glad you're here! I'm glad to hear you found a great doc and that things are going smoothly.- I'm nervous...
Thanks so much everyone, your support means a lot!! I told my patents last night. My mom isn't really too in-the-know about cuurent wls options. She first gave me some of the "I hope you know what you are doing.... this is permanent.... I hope you understand the risks." I think, based on some of her questions, that she initially thought I'd be getting roux-en-y. She asked if I'd be on shakes the rest of my life and if I'd ever be able to sit down and eat a meal with them. She said she didn't understand why I'd be able to stick to a diet post-op but not before. I shared with her some research findings about the long term success rates of those who have over 100lbs to lose and attempt it ::eye roll:: "the natural way." She said she'd like to see me thin and happy and I interrupted her and told her this was more than what I look like; it's about my long term well being, preventing health issues, living a life with and for my family (especially my kids). I shared with her some of the things that keeps me from living fully like, last week NOT taking my 7 year old to the school skating party because my DH was out of town and my knees have been killing me and frankly I was worried that if I fell I'd seriously injure myself, embarrass my son, and be out of commission for a while. Interestingly, she didn't ask about my husband or his thoughts. Which, I totally appreciate that one of her go-to thoughts wasn't about my husbands take or influence. I think she knows me well enough to know I'm my own woman, with a strong mind and personality. I'm sure she'll talk to my sister but I anticipate my sister will be supportive as she's been banded. I invited her to ask me more questions or talk to me about her concerns. So, we'll see how it goes. My DH told me he was very proud of me for facing my parents. I don't let many people rattle me but boy, they sure can. I respect them so much and how smart and strong they have been throughout their lives. But I'm a grown woman who has to do what's right for me and my little family.- Very happy!
Hey Karisss, congrats girl!! You look fantastic!! I'm 5'5" and 260 lbs. At 29 I can't think of a better 30th bday gift to myself than to loose all this extra baggage and go into the next 30 years fierce. I hope I'll be fortunate and not be too shrinkly. Thanks for sharing the pics, it's such an inspiration! - March Sleevers
