  1. Congrats on your decision! And welcome to the group!
  2. I'm in South King County. I'm getting sleeved on 3/12/13 by Dr. Houseworth at St. Francis.
  3. Hey all you grad students, just wanted to say congratulations on your journey - academically and weight-loss wise. I finished up grad school in Dec 2012. I'm a mom of 2 so the sleeve really wasn't something I could fit onto my plate at the time but I seriously give you all props for taking on both! Both of these major life changes are going to feel great when you reap the rewards.
  4. Stress can definitely play into our weight loss. Take deep breaths and think positively. You're doing this for lots of good, healthy reasons. There are risks to our life and well being from the moment we are born till the moment we die. Yes, there are risks involved with surgery but the cost of health is worth almost any price, don't you think? You've got this in the bag!
  5. Starting my liquid diet on the 5th. Not having doubts about the surgery per se but in myself and keeping to the dietary requirements.
  6. I'm 5am Pacific Standard Time so though I'm the first of the day for my surgeon it's likely you all will be ahead of me.
  7. I think the reasons vary. For some, their insurance doesn't cover the procedure. For others it's a matter of cost. Or, like another poster shared, they felt more comfortable with the surgeons expertise since they been doing the sleeve for years. I'm sure there are other results too.
  8. March 12th (first of the day) St. Francis Bariatric Center Federal Way, WA Dr. Houseworth
  9. Congrats mrati2d, we are sleeve buddies! Do you have a pre op diet? I have a week looking liquid pre op diet I start march 5th. How are you feeling about it?
  10. Thanks for posting this! My knees have really become bothersome. They hurt even when I'm not using them. And (TMI) they have made my favorite sexual positions really painful. As a result of having unsatisfying/embarrassing moments of intimacy I've been emotional and felt bad about myself. My partner has been super understanding and supportive. But, one of my main fears is that my knees will still be problematic and hinder me from a lot of physical activities. I'm glad to hear that knee pain has resolved for some other sleevers.

  13. Glad to hear it went well, allbeit strange. You're on the way now!

  17. Congrats to you all! I got my date a few wks back. March 12th is the day and u start the liquid diet March 5th.
  18. Huh, I've only tried ice, which helps. I should try heat I guess.
  19. I understand your concern. I'm a mom of 2 and though my husband is supportive I know he's worried. I just keep telling myself that I'm doing this for all the right reasons. About what people are saying, I have a bmi of 40 but I carry my weight fairly well. People have also told me they thought I could/should do it without the surgery. But, they don't know my struggle. Not in the deep, intimate way that i do. They are saying that on limited info. We have to do what is right for us because this is so personal. We both will do great!
